The Marine doesn't have four bullets in his head. These are his badges. Depending on the color, they represent 10, 50 or 100 years of service. Marines are genetically enhanced warriors and have a greatly extended lifespan.

The "bullets" are service studs and the metal used denotes the amount of time each one represents. In the case of Titus, the main character of Space Marine 2, his represent 200 years of service. You were *close* on PvE and PvP. PvP is Player versus Player (competitive mode), PvE is Player versus Environment (single player or cooperative play). The PvP mode is loyalist vs heretic astartes, PvE is the main story and a series of missions that take place during parts of the game where the main character's plans rely upon other squads completing objectives. In the campaign it is assumed those objectives are a success, in multiplayer you team up with others to be the squad that completed the other objectives. The first of these is a part in the campaign where a second squad needs to sabotage a refinery and detonate prometheum (super napalm) to destroy a large portion of the enemy swarm in order to buy time for the main characters to do main character things - in the multiplayer mission, you get to be the squad that completes the objective and buys them the time. Oh, and you should totally find time to play Fallen Order, even though it would take you a while to complete with your schedule - it's a fantastic game with a satisfying story.
Titus has 4 Gold Service studs so that's 400 years of service in the Imperium of man, they'd be Silver if he had 200 years of service as silver studs equates to 50 years, Gold is 100
Doom and Warhammer 40k have been kind of referencing each other and cyclically upping each other's ante for a while now. It's no accident you see Doom tropes in a Space Marine game.
"Brutal Doom" is a mod for the first two Doom games (from 1993) released in 2010 that added modern game mechanics (such as iron sights and full 360° camera control). One of the mechanics was Mortal Kombat-style fatality kills that restore HP. So when Doom was rebooted in 2016, the mechanic was lifted straight out of Brutal Doom.
@@HannaHsOverInvested Specifically, Kill Team is the smaller and (supposedly) cheaper game compared to full 40k. Squad vs squad instead of army vs army. This season of Kill Team are the Tempestus Aquilons vs the Vespid Stingwings, and that's who you were watching fight. Players can play as either faction, hence why the cinematic didn't show either side actually winning.
Hannah, you're not a fraud. I've always enjoyed your content ^.^ As for the "in-between state" a good label might be "casual gamer" which I love that there are so many people enjoying games on their terms these days. Unfortunately there is a bit of a toxic, loud minority of people who might be like "you haven't played 1,000 hours of [insert game], you're not a real gamer." But they're just gatekeeping whiners. Keep doing what you do, when you feel like doing it and we'll be here to enjoy what you're enjoying ^.^
As an 1,000 hours of [insert many games here], you're totally right. I love watching somebody react to things I love for the first time, even if they're clueless lol!
I love that, whenever I come back to your channel and you upload a new video about 40k, your knowledge has slightly expanded but your overall attitude is still an overwhelmed „oh damn that’s crazy, I wanna know more but it’s a bit much.“ it’s great. It shows that even though you’re not „interested in it“ per se, you still appreciate and can enjoy it. You watching the trailers and going „oh I recognize this“ and going „wretched things“ and „for the emperor“ and such shows that despite your lack of knowledge, you still appreciate it. It’s like when you watch a movie with a friend where you don’t get most of it but you’re just along for the ride and having fun. And that’s what we’re all here for in the end.
I'm 99% certain that PVE means, Player vs Environment (monsters, raiders, ect.). You're catching on. 21:18 - 21:34 All I could think of was a song lyric: "Sometimes, darkness can show you the light." Artist: Disturbed. Song: The Light.
@@HannaHsOverInvested I don't know videogame ratings in Canada, but in the US there is an "E for everyone" rating. You may have also heard it referenced somewhere.
No, it's really "Player vs. Environment", as a shorthand for "computer-generated enemies, environmental puzzles, interactions with NPC and all the rest". Easier that way. (Welcome back 😃)
@@HannaHsOverInvestedBasically PvE means anything that puts players against the non playable characters, A.I., bots, NPCs etc ... PvP, yes, means player vs player. Not coop, specifically multiplayer where people play against each other. Some games have PvPvE. Like hunt showdown, an extraction shooter where you have an open map with up to 12 players in teams made of up to 3 players, fighting monsters, where the objective is to kill a boss and then take it's bounty to an extraction area. The caveat is that the players of different teams can, will and should kill each other and get that bounty for themselves. Basically a PvE game mode with more players of opposite teams thrown in, which can kill each other.
15:40 - Yes you're spot on here. There is absolutely a language to video game design that you start picking up as you play more of them yourself. You will recognise more and more how there is a shared understanding of mechanics and design between games. I'm happy you commented on this because a lot of people play games very mindlessly without being aware of this part of it.
Surprisingly, most of the names for Tyranid creatures are actually real words. It just so happens Hormagaunt is made up(or rather, is a reference to a monster of the same name from a science fiction novel), but their ranged counterpart, the Termagant, is "a harsh tempered, or overbearing woman". One of the more unbelievable ones that is real is Carnifex, a huge Tyranid monster that can rip tanks apart(and is a mini-boss in Space Marine 2), and it's a Roman title for public executioners who put slaves and foreigners to death.
5:57 Space Marines are revered in the Imperium, it is rare for regular humans witnessing a space marine, except of course the military branch of the Imperium who work with them on a regular basis, but for your average joe it is literally seeing an angel to them.
11:06 east problem to solve. When streaming, join up with other TH-camrs/Vtubers who are good at the game and or will keep playing with you and y’all can help each other improve. I mean, that’s legitimately my favorite part of playing with other people. Getting advice, reasonable criticism when I’ve made a bad decision which helps me change things up and improve, information I wasn’t aware of before, and also improving team work as well. My favorite kinda games are the ones that DONT hold your hand like your toddler and overwhelm you with more information than you can process, but still have a ton of deeper info that you get to learn over time. Darktide for example has a lot of details and mechanics that the game doesn’t slap you in the face with. Lets you feel like you’re improving CONSTANTLY. So take your time, network with others, and keep on playin girl! Love seeing your reactions and further delving into gaming and stuff, you’ll be a regular gamer girl in no time at all and whooping ass with the best of us! …and I’m being serious when I say I’m excited to see you improve your gaming skills over the next couple of years.
I love your reaction videos cause you’re on the limbo between being a gamer and a non gamer, while also being a writer, that gives a different perspective and even though you pause the videos frequently is almost always to say something constructive about the video/media you’re reacting. I like the bricky video reactions and would appreciate some more halo reaction videos ❤
What you said at the end is actually what makes a lot of the good 40k stories good, you root for a good ending despite the characters living in such a terrible world. I'm sure you remember from the 40k novels you read how the main character is a fairly normal person trying to navigate their way through the world of warhammer
For your information and if you're curious to search about that, the thing you describe about gamers being informed through games about other games, making understanding of features easy the more games you play, is called "game litteracy". A very interesting subject.
That first trailer has a lot more going on under the hood for us lore-nerds than most people realize. Some examples: The regular troops in the green outfits are Cadian Guardsmen. In the lore, Cadians are known for their purple eyes. If you look closely, you will notice when the soldier kneels down, his eyes are violet. When Titus (Helmet withe the red and white stripes) kills the Hive Warrior (the big monster with the two sword arms) , Titus hits it in the specific points that (according to the lore) are especially vulnerable. When he rips the head off and all the little guys (those are the hormagaunts, BTW) run away - it's because they have reverted to their animalistic state. The Tyranids are a cascade mind where the higher hive-forms are more intelligent and psychically control/override the minds of the lesser hive-forms. This continues upwards in a sort of feudal structure. The higher hive-forms are controlled by even higher forms, above them all is the Hive-Mind - the central governing intelligence that controls the entire race in a chain of psychic dominance. Break the chain by killing a hive-form and all the lesser hive-forms beneath it are dropped out of the network. This works in the game itself, BTW. Always kill the big guys first. The "bullets" are service studs that display a given space marine's years of service. Titus' four studs indicate he's been serving the Imperium for at least 200 years. The Cadian (and most normies) are awestruck and refer to the SMs as the Emperor's Angels of Death. They are practically demi-gods of war. The appearance of even a single SM is simultaneously the most terrifying and awesome sight a common guardsman can see. Awesome because the SMs are essentially angels of war in direct(ish) service of the God-Emperor. Terrifying because SMs are only deployed in the most dire and important of circumstances (at least theoretically). So, to see one is a clear indication that the odds of a merely human guardsman surviving the coming battle are practically nil.
Also to answer your question on the metal studs on the forehead, some Space Marines use it to mark their years of service: 50 years per silver stud and 100 years per golden.
Love the comment on how playing games help inform how to play other games. There are some things intuitive to long time players about how a game operates or the limitations of what you can and can't do (ex red bar = health, waypoint markers for objectives, loot chests/crates). The more games you play, the more experience you have to fall back on and the more you'll recognize. Don't be intimidated by gameplay! All that matters is you find a game YOU think would be fun to play.
Fun fact: Hormagaunts (the little raptor-bugs with the stabby hands) are roughly 1.5m tall and 2.5m long. And the hive mind will throw them in waves numbering in the thousands to tens of thousands 😁
The Tyranid aliens the Space Marines were fighting have a hive-intelligence and rely on the larger specimens to coordinate their attacks. When the Space Marine killed the big one with swords, the rest effectively turned feral and fled as they no longer had the wider hive mind compelling them to attack in a coordinated effort.
6:12 Those are “Service Studs”. Each one represents 50 years of continuous service. Making Titus, roughly over 200 years old. (Unless killed, Space Marines are practically immortal, in which the rate their bodies break down is drastically reduced/slowed)
4:55 what is fun is learning that 40k took a huge amount of inspiration from the world of Dune, which in turn went to inspire many many other sci fi and grimdark worlds. Fallout Brotherhood of Steel is easily inspired by Space Marines. If 40k is the father of grimdark sci fi, Dune is the grandfather, and so much other western media has huge inspiration from those two worlds.
Tbh, the fact that you make time to experience things you are pretty sure you won’t like but keep an open mind to (with some bias which is ok!) is part of why I enjoy your channel!
17:55 About the time and effort, it's truly something astonishing just how much work goes into them. Every video game ever released is it's own miracle.
Co-Op/Campaign = you can play the main story single player or with two friends PVE = you take on missions done off-screen from the main story solo or with two friends PVP = in this game, it’s 6 versus 6 players in various game modes Hope this helps!
Brief sum up of the tyranids Homragaunts are basic cannon fodder. Termagaunts are cannon fodder with guns . Tyranids warriors are elite they have variety of weapons they use . Lictors, ambush type enemy that deals in melee damage very speed an can cloak it self. Raveners , another ambush enemy that burrows underground . Zoanthrope, psychic space bugs that buffs other bugs Gargoyles, cannon fodder with wings . Ripper swarm : baby cannon fodder that will swarm you with it vast numbers Neurothrope : bigger psyhic bug Carnifexes , big bug tank Hive tyrants, the general of the bug's , has the powers of psychic bug , tank bug , acts as a mobile control tower for the hive mind fleet.
Please pardon my misspelling, I'm Dyslexic A rather sad fact about Titus (the guy we play as). In the first game, he was suspected of Harasy because he was able to withstand the powers of chaos. Something that only traitors and haratics can do. So he was taken in by the Inqasition, the Imperium's secret police. After being tortured for years, he was sent to the Black Shield, a suicide squad for Space Marines that go on the hardest and most dangerous missions. Basically, the Imperium's was of saying, "Die with dishonor, scum!" But the inqasitor who took Titus was a traitor, and the ideot who turned him in was put into a position where he couldn't do any more harm to good Space Marines, so Titus had that dishonor erased from his history and now he's back!
You're not a fraud at all Hannah! Keep doing what's best for you! :) 8:48 You pretty much had it PvE is Player vs Environment (i.e bots/npcs/ai etc) and PvP is Player vs Player which would usually be online (or offline local in some cases depending on the game)
i’ve collected warhammer 40k going on 26 years now. The lore is expansive. 40 years worth. Some of the best sci fi horror written comes out of the publisher “The Black library”. Space Marines or “Astartes” are called the emperor’s angels for their selfless devotion to duty. Space Marines are created. They are generally enhanced, Psycho indoctrinated and they are the gene sons of the Emperor’s Primarch’s. Demi gods of war. I collect the dark Angels. The first legion. their Primarch being an “Apex predator” amongst Apex predators. The Ultramarines or “Smurfs” are from Roboute Guilliman. They are the poster boys. The Dark Angels are the executioners. where they went the Emperor wanted 😊erased from existence.
Nothing says Devs that care about their game like "Proudly Presents". Most Devs and publishers are no longer proud of presenting these days, they are just happy to present and make more money.
"Oh, they were the bad guys" In Warhammer 40k, everyone is the bad guys. It's called the grimdark future for a reason. This portion of the video was for Kill Team, which is one of the various tabletop versions of the game, where you are using small elite teams of operatives to complete missions as opposed to the standard 40K tabletop game where you and your opponent have whole armies that fight.
I think she would enjoy the first Space Marine game. It's older, but also shorter and simpler, and there are a lot of similarities with Doom and God of War. Plus it has Mark Strong as a voice actor, and some funny Orks.
Space Marines do indeed look similar to the fallout power armour dudes because.. big power armour! Truly one of my favourite type of characters in games or shows
Congratulations on the gig. For folks that grew up gaming playing space marine with friends is the relaxation/recreation of the evening. The game is a pretty fun time but if anything the level of gore is under-represented, it is very much like Doom as you literally execute enemies to regain armor and health constantly. This one might be a more chill experience as you can play entirely Player Vs. Environment PVE and it has a full difficulty setting system. If you're not having fun playing a game then that sucks. Girls Play did the whole campaign as a 3 person co-op and it was a hilarious watch. You might enjoy watching some of the cinematics from the game as they're just as grimdark and dramatic as they are beautifully rendered. It's WH40k so everything is both a church and a factory, or like a graphics card that's 6 stories tall.
Kill team is a boardgame that uses different rules set from the classic 40k rules It is made for fast and easy match making between players. It pits a small crew of Operatives Vs another one, usualy those units are Stealth/reconnaissance and/or Saboteurs and assassins. The game is pretty much like Navy Seals vs other countries equivalants. Its a good way to get introduced to the tabletop game of 40k and its univers, in this trailer you see an Imperial Guard unit, called Tempestus Scions, wich are elite trained Imperial guards soldiers for tactical and insertion missions. The ones they are fighting are Tau's Empire soldiers called Vespids, they are a sort of Flying Humanoid creatures that functions in the same way as a "Bee hive" and are "Auxiliaries" of the T'au Empire. The T'au Empire as a tendency to make work for them species that they either conquered or have good Diplomatic relations with, the other often used species for Warfare by the T'au are the Kroots, who are like reptilian/Avian creatures that has cannibalistic tendencies, but they are good at melee combat and stealth/scouting, so the t'au makes use of them.
If you are looking for more Warhammer content to react on in future videos I highly recommend the Hammer and Bolter Series on Warhammer TV. Each episode is another short story out of the 40k universe and every episode is like 25 minutes when I remember it right. I think it would fit very well into your kind of videos and I really would like to see your reaction on these little stories 😄. The Emperor protects!
4:47 It's more like a bigger guy, in a bigger suit. An apt comparison still. 10:47 We all sucked at games at some point. Having fun is just as important as getting good at playing them. Bring friends and it's a party! 15:35 Exactly. 14:34 No, but there is some crossover in how it looks and feels to play.
Basically think of space marines as the be all end all, they're whole universe is humanity pressed into being the most dangerous thing that walks on legs. Fighting the undead, fighting xenomorph's, orc hordes, the list goes on.
You wrote a book about Vampires? So you will be thrilled that the most beloved martyr of the Imperium, Primarch Sanguinius was basically a Vampiric-Angel. Space Marines who have implants of his lineage (Blood Angels) not only have blood hunger that they try to keep at bay with culture but also sometimes get visions of him getting massacred by his treacherous brother Horus and are going mad trying to avenge him (even if Horus is long dead, killed completely by the Emperor millennia ago). Customization is a big thing in the Warhammer community - people have already painted and modified miniatures to play tabletop for decades. So nothing strange it was a thing to implement into computer games too. Kill Team is a small unit skirmish tabletop wargame, played with fewer units than full-scale Warhammer 40k games. This trailer is about introducing flying units to the game. Here we have Tau and their Vespid allies fighting against Elysian Drop Troops of Imperial Guard. And if you don't like horrifying stuff - don't even try to check what Dark Eldars do like... most of the time...
In 40k, you are on the team you think is either the coolest, funniest, or most depressing. There are more Kill Team cinematics due to it being a small scale version of the table top game
15:33 oh yeah, "video game literacy" is a real thing, it is useful for both finding other games that you might like (eg.: I like RPGs, Metroidvanias, Strategy...) and understanding what's going on in a game (eg.: knowing an explamation mark on an NPC is a quest. What is an NPC to begin with, knowing that if you find a fork in the road, and the left is the right path, then you go to the left because there is something you probably missed there...) And it can be a real problem when game developers do something expecting their audience to be video game literate, and end up excluding a portion of their potencial audience that don't keep up on what to do because it's their fist game ever.
the reason there is a lot of similarity to doom is that the creator of doom has said Warhammer 40k was one of his inspirations for the atmosphere and setting for the game.
Nice to see you again, Hannah! Along with your future videos, you should absolutely make one on internet culture and game franchises. In this case, Space Marine 2 is the sequel to the original from 13 YEARS AGO and was very short but became a cult classic, particularly amongst male gamers, for its incredibly masculine story and gameplay. The second one expands on this even further with all the things listed but still remains just as masculine and adrenaline pumping as before.
4:42 Not that crazy but there are several key differences: In Fallout knights are regular soldiers that have proven themselves to earn the right to that power armor so elite soldiers. Any regular human can pilot a Fallout power armor. In Warhammer 40K space marine aspirants have to prove themselves but they also have to go through a ton surgeries adding various extra organs, muscles etc. along with trials and a Primarch's gene seed to then come out a 7-8 ft tall super muscular demigod and then get the power armor and weapons. That is why in Warhammer 40k space marines are seen as demigods or angels because of how far they rose above normal humans. th-cam.com/video/whtHtyAy0Wo/w-d-xo.html Here is video by Luetin on how one becomes a Space Marine and steps it takes.
If you want anything close to happy ending in warhammer 40K. You can only read Ciaphas Cain books. Most other books have varying degrees of bad or tragic endings.
Honestly I think watching trailers/gameplay now that you have played a few games is a natural progression for the channel. Recognizing the Doom execution/heal mechanic, and what that would mean to how the game would feel to play, gives you a bit more of a foothold to know what you're looking at. Even for games in genres that you otherwise have no experience with you'll recognize elements borrowed from the genres you have played. And I can see it now, one day you'll blossom into a full videogame know-it-all that condescendingly dismisses any game that doesn't put a rocket launcher in your hands within the first five minutes.
Hannah, im super glad that youre using your experience with different games to equate to this! Coming from someone who's played the game and knows what you seem to like for your action games, think of this as God of War 2018's combat with DOOM's shooting and Glory kill mechanics, IN the Warhammer setting. Very much your speed if you decide to give it a try
Ill tell you right now if you need a narrator for your audiobook, try and get one that had narrated a 40k novel for the dark library. They go far beyond what is needed, delivering emotional impact and tension filled elegance more than any voice actor i have ever heard. The audio collections are straight audio plays with sound effects and everything like they took the sounds from a movie.

To be fair a lot of games with some sort of progression system can be overwhelming at first. But as you get into it, it gets more familiar. I kind of grew up on CRPGs which is a type of game that tends to have a crippling amount of depth for character creator and management. They are kind of like Mass Effect but more complex for reference and every time I have to get into 1 that uses a new system there is a whole learning stage to it before it doesn't feel like I'm constantly making huge mistakes every time the game asks me to choose something. But really Space Marine 2 is pretty simple. Only choose you have for the main story is really how hard you want the game to be and what weapons you want to start with on a mission and even then is constantly gives you the option to swap them. Co-Op isn't much harder. It's more of a skill ladder than skill tree. Besides you level so slow you don't really have to make real choices until hours into co-op. Most of the options are in playing dress up barbie space marine edition.
Hormagaunts are basically expendable close-combat drones. They don't really have much brains of their own, so that's why they tend to scatter when their bigger buddies get killed. Those ones have big enough brains to act as wifi routers for the hivemind.
The Tyranids are one of the most horrific sci fi races I've heard or read about tbh. And really only the mechanized suits are somewhat similar between the power armor users in Fallout and the Space Marines. The Space Marines are genetically and surgically modified super soldiers who are literally connected to their power armor like it's a second skin, whereas the power armor users in Fallout are just regular humans, albeit very skilled and trained. A single Space Marine without his armor would probably be a match for a power armor user from Fallout.
The important thing from a story writer point of view for Space Marine 2 is what the main character is suffering from crippling ultra-depression, but throughout the story his 2 younger brothers hAlp him to get through it. P.S. the campaign is just 8 hours long
There is nothing wrong with being bad at the game. It's practice, play it enough and you are good. Like doing sports, playing a musical instrument, driving, etc. Just do it and you get better at it. I remember getting the first time into dark souls. I died dozens of times but finally beating a boss was sooo satisfying. After the nth attempt, it was a victory. Pure rush. Also you can defeat it the next time too since you know his weaknesses.

The Brotherhood of Steel in Fallout 1 was clearly inspired by Warhammer. Both visually and thematically. A mix of Astartes and Admech.

@@colinfraser685 Games Workshop the company began in 1975, back then all they did was make minis for RPGs with no system of their own. Warhammer FANTASY began in 1983. Warhammer 40k (Then known as Rogue Trader) didn't start until 1987. Starship Troopers THE BOOK came out in 1959.

@@TheKsalad copy and paste king 👑💪
@@colinfraser685 Starship Troopers was written in 1959 by Robert Heinlein.

Oh, and you should totally find time to play Fallen Order, even though it would take you a while to complete with your schedule - it's a fantastic game with a satisfying story.
those are 4 gold studs, that should be 400 years of service...
Just a FYI the Killteam trailer is for the miniatures board game. 😊
I did not know that.
I've always enjoyed your content ^.^
As for the "in-between state" a good label might be "casual gamer" which I love that there are so many people enjoying games on their terms these days. You watching the trailers and going „oh I recognize this“ and going „wretched things“ and „for the emperor“ and such shows that despite your lack of knowledge, you still appreciate it.

Like hunt showdown, an extraction shooter where you have an open map with up to 12 players in teams made of up to 3 players, fighting monsters, where the objective is to kill a boss and then take it's bounty to an extraction area.
Funny enough I heard somewhere that warhammer space marine power armor was a huge inspiration for the brotherhood of steel knights in fallout.
Congrats on the acting role! 🎉 always great to see hard work and dedication rewarded 😊
5:57 Space Marines are revered in the Imperium, it is rare for regular humans witnessing a space marine, except of course the military branch of the Imperium who work with them on a regular basis, but for your average joe it is literally seeing an angel to them.

4:04 “nasty, just nasty”
Oh don’t worry, it gets worse.

Watch the horus heresy cinematic trailer
space marine is rare view. most guardsman will never saw space marine throughout their entire service
There are entire star systems where people don't think space marines are even real.
There is a narrative driven game called "The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe". I think as a writer, you would love it.
Fun fact: Hormagaunts (the little raptor-bugs with the stabby hands) are roughly 1.5m tall and 2.5m long. And the hive mind will throw them in waves numbering in the thousands to tens of thousands 😁
Millions usually.
Please do a playthrough of this you're awesome! I loved your react to the trailer.
Those are service studs in his forehead. Those four studs in his head denote that he's been in service to the Emperor for 400 years.

Neurothrope : bigger psyhic bug
Carnifexes , big bug tank
Hive tyrants, the general of the bug's , has the powers of psychic bug , tank bug , acts as a mobile control tower for the hive mind fleet.
Please pardon my misspelling, I'm Dyslexic
A rather sad fact about Titus (the guy we play as).
Glad to see you back! I'm sure you won't fall into the 40k hole, to deep ;)

"Oh, they were the bad guys"
In Warhammer 40k, everyone is the bad guys. It's called the grimdark future for a reason. This portion of the video was for Kill Team, which is one of the various tabletop versions of the game, where you are using small elite teams of operatives to complete missions as opposed to the standard 40K tabletop game where you and your opponent have whole armies that fight.
Missed your reacts vids. Nice seeing you again

I think she would enjoy the first Space Marine game. It's older, but also shorter and simpler, and there are a lot of similarities with Doom and God of War. Plus it has Mark Strong as a voice actor, and some funny Orks.
It’s not shorter (not the campaign anyway)
@@HistoritorJimaldus The main campaign is shorter by at least 2 hours.
That Space Marine is no other than the legend himself Demetrian Titus since the first Space Marine game
Kill team is a boardgame that uses different rules set from the classic 40k rules
It is made for fast and easy match making between players.
To be fair, now you are just a casual gamer. Still in the family and we love you :D
21:30 could be a combination of morbid curiosity and what I like to call "the dichotomic appeal of tragedies"
As a dude who played the original Fallout, yes they absolutely stole everything from Warhammer.
15:33 oh yeah, "video game literacy" is a real thing, it is useful for both finding other games that you might like (eg.: I like RPGs, Metroidvanias, Strategy...) and understanding what's going on in a game (eg.: knowing an explamation mark on an NPC is a quest. What is an NPC to begin with, knowing that if you find a fork in the road, and the left is the right path, then you go to the left because there is something you probably missed there...)
And it can be a real problem when game developers do something expecting their audience to be video game literate, and end up excluding a portion of their potencial audience that don't keep up on what to do because it's their fist game ever.
You are not a fraud... you have graduated from "non gamer" to "casual"
the reason there is a lot of similarity to doom is that the creator of doom has said Warhammer 40k was one of his inspirations for the atmosphere and setting for the game.
Space marines remember you of the Brotherhood Of Steel because they inspired them.
6:15 those aren't bullets, there nails which shows how many centuries he served The God Emperor
That's a Warhammer word, not a real word
Hannah in the first 8 seconds, "Keywords!", she gets TH-cam. Great title btw.
Did I do that? Did I do a keyword thing right? Good for me!
4:42 Not that crazy but there are several key differences:
In Fallout knights are regular soldiers that have proven themselves to earn the right to that power armor so elite soldiers.
That is why in Warhammer 40k space marines are seen as demigods or angels because of how far they rose above normal humans.
th-cam.com/video/whtHtyAy0Wo/w-d-xo.html
Here is video by Luetin on how one becomes a Space Marine and steps it takes.
LOL that sounds highly plausible. I did end up with a strange Stockholm like attachment to the rocket launcher.
That does sound appealing

It is a fun game, and even more fun to collect and paint the minis, which I've been doing since 1990.
Doom's glory kill system was actually inspired by Gears of War and Space Marine 1.
Hormagaunts are basically expendable close-combat drones. They don't really have much brains of their own, so that's why they tend to scatter when their bigger buddies get killed. Those ones have big enough brains to act as wifi routers for the hivemind.
In Fallout Power armor is almost like stepping into a mech were as a space marine is that height the armor doesn't make them taller necessary.
If you like Doom, there's a 40k game that's a direct homage to old-school Doom. It's called "Boltgun" and it's available digitally.
