Guys I gotta be honest I’m freakin pumped about the mobile set up. I actually never got into this hunting thing until 2018, is when I made the decision and actually started shooting archery. That year never saw a freakin thing, only once for 4 seconds lol. I had no idea what I was doing or how to play the wind. 2019 I started putting up some stands, and getting a little more aggressive. But the equipment I’ve got is very inconvenient to be moving around. Some of this stuff is an absolute nightmare to set up, and because of that it’s not set up in some of the thicker places that I wanna be. Where I need to be going. I actually went with the Helium ultralight run n gun setup. It’s perfect for the place I’m goin.
This is a great stand, period! It's lightweight, climbs easy th-cam.com/users/postUgkxlQ7TDIrnnSXXbRgFFaxqwullRJJIuYAs and feels solid while in the tree. The seat is easy to fold up for climbing and sits comfortably for long days in the woods. The only downside I have is that it might be too comfortable, but I like napping in the tree anyway. This is the second Summit Viper I have owned. The old one is steel making it heavier, but this aluminum version is about 9-10 lbs lighter. I recommend buying a better fall harness as the one included is clunky and not super comfortable. I think it will work fine if you NEED to use it, but there are lots of other more comfortable options out there.
Pretty extreme switch to go from a LW Alpha II to a LWCG .5, but I guess the saddle gives a feeling of extra security. If I was in a saddle, I think I’d maybe want a platform with no cables in the way. With no saddle, at least, It’s hard to beat a LW Assault II and three full length sticks. I use a SRD (suspension relief device) strap as an adjustable cinch aider so I can hang my bottom stick as high as I can reach.
thats pretty awesome 17 lb sticks and stand...Everything I bring in the woods to saddle hunt and rappel weighs just under 18 lbs...predator phantom carbon kiwis 3 squirrel steps binos range finder saw kill kit etc just under 18 lbs...
Good video guys. At the end you showed weight differences and you mentioned that you had to run the backpack with your saddle setup but you must have to run backpack straps with your platform setup but didn’t include that in your weight comparison. I’m sure it’s a lot less than the backpack. What are you guys using for backpack straps anyway? I’m looking for a lightweight mobile set up because I have not been happy with how I can shoot to my weak side in a saddle. I’ve been saddle hunting for four seasons now but I’m thinking of doing a hybrid set up where I had from a salon but I also use the Treestand as my platform and can sit down especially in late season when cover is sparse.
Awesome setups. I'm going to try the LWCG .5 with three WE Stepps and a movable 5 step aider and see how light that will be. Goodluck this upcoming season!
Great video guys. I'm going more mobile this year as well I'm settling in with recon tree hopper saddle($159) 1lb, 3 hawk. Helium 20" sticks with 2step aiders 2.5lb each for about $100 I can get about 20' up.
Hey what’s the harness set up you guys have on the stands? I have herniated discs in my back so I need a good harness to distribute the weight to my hips..
Hey Kevin these are the straps from lone wolf custom gear. If you are looking for something with more padding I would check out the Kiui pro suspension www.kuiu.com/products/pro-suspension-valo-camouflage?variant=40340225589406
So if I go with the lightest setup period which was the last thing you said. What exactly do I got to get? I can only hunt on public land. So I need to be as discreet and simplistic as possible. Plus I'd like to shoot from it eventually. Also I've never actually been in a stand. So really I can't make much of a choice since I never did the stand before. Thanks.
Try some stands out first. The lightest set up you can find stand and stick wise right now is the lone wolf custom gear .5 paired with the tethrd one sticks. You may want a bigger more comfortable stand though
Good video... I would have talked about what bags you use to carry your gear, what you take in/out and what that total weight is. When you start justifying not using a saddle cuz of your pack because of your camera gear... it would be cool seeing what pack you use with the .5. And what that does with weight... but great video. I enjoyed the variety. And Michigan has some good bucks. There’s just less of them, and harder to find. lol but you guys gained a sub with this video I just came across. It was good.
I LOVE TREE HUNTING, THAT SAID I HAVE KILLED HALF MY ALMOST 50 DEER WITH A BOW OFF THE GROUND. PAY ATTENTION TO WIND DIRECTION, HUNT ACCORDINGLY. BUT DO LOVE THE TREE STANDS THE MOST. I'M NOT A FAN OF STICK TALONS! SWIMMING NOODLE CUT 12" WRAPPED IN CAMO TAPE AND SHORT BUNGEE STRAP. BOOM!!
Can we be friends I’m 24 from Wisconsin looking to travel and record hunts on public land, I have 100 acres by Buffalo Co, Wisconsin, great land but Im a diehard looking to learn
This video literally could’ve been done with zero talking just set it up and take it down as fast as you can that’s all I want to see show me the brand names

Most useful/practical/helpful stand review out there! Thanks for doing that!

Just found your channel, I’m from Lawrenceburg Indiana so I’m right there with ya guys
Great vid guys time for me to get a .5 and some tethrd’s 👍
3 tether one sticks, backwoods custom gear 4-step aider, cruzr xc saddle, still looking for the right platform.
Fascinating that the only difference in weight between Alpha 2 with three sticks and the. 5 with four short sticks was 4 lbs!
Solid work guys. Really great video. Keep it up.
Good video guys. At the end you showed weight differences and you mentioned that you had to run the backpack with your saddle setup but you must have to run backpack straps with your platform setup but didn’t include that in your weight comparison.

Gotta check into one sticks, the lack of weight may make up for the tight foot spacing
Won't be the most comfortable climb, but a very comfortable pack in.
Man I'm glad I came across this video. Thanks guy's
Do the tethrd sticks make any noise with the titans straps underneath the seat like you packed them?
Awesome setups. I'm going to try the LWCG .5 with three WE Stepps and a movable 5 step aider and see how light that will be. Goodluck this upcoming season!

very informative...great video...only issue is the amount of "umms" gets a bit annoying
I Think you just sold me. Thanks man.
Michael, how much stealth strip material did you use for the sticks?
Both sticks and the stand are covered in a couple rolls of camo hockey tape
I went the cheap route and used hockey tape instead. Kind of rushed the job but it’ll be cleaned up before season.
Hey what’s the harness set up you guys have on the stands? I have herniated discs in my back so I need a good harness to distribute the weight to my hips..
Hey Kevin these are the straps from lone wolf custom gear. If you are looking for something with more padding I would check out the Kiui pro suspension
www.kuiu.com/products/pro-suspension-valo-camouflage?variant=40340225589406
@@HuntingJunky it’s not as much the padding I’m looking for. It’s more the weight being distributed better..
What back pack straps and hip belt you got on the lone wolf alpha?
How high can Michael get with the 17lb set up?
Where can I get a buckeye woodsman hoodie?
What type of back pack straps do you guys have on these stands?
The back pack straps on the .5 are the lone wolf custom gear straps that you get with the stand. Michael also added a hip belt
So if I go with the lightest setup period which was the last thing you said. What exactly do I got to get? I can only hunt on public land. So I need to be as discreet and simplistic as possible. @@HuntingJunky I wonder if I can do that at bass pro? Thanks for responding.
Probably. Check out the novix helo. If I’d never had a mobile set up, that’s what I would buy.
What backpack strap systems are you guys using on your platforms.
Those are the ones from lone wolf custom gear
Ok thank you
the xop stand is heavy?? i thought it was only 10 lb.
That's 2 .5s
What do you have the LWCG .5 and dbl steps wrapped with?
Hockey tape
How did you attach the titan straps to the .5 seat?
Ran them through the holes in the seat and underneath the pad. also tide some bungee line to pin them down when not in use
@@HuntingJunky How long of titan straps?
@@whitewood2000 20”. Have 2 of them on there
Titan (or the original Voile straps) are awesome. Thanks for the idea to run some cord through them to keep them in place when not buckled.

Well done

LoL 4 sticks vs 3 sticks. 8 steps vs 9 steps.
These guys are set up in a public park!😂
What tighten straps are you using to hold those tethrd one sticks to your stand
What are you using for backpack straps on those stands?
Those are lone wolf custom gear straps
