Hey Chris, This is what I do for bows and packs on the ground. Go buy some normal rope 40 ft. it's not much to pack in. And when you are about to go up the tree put 20 ft of rope through your belt loop behind you. Tie one end to your bow the other to your bag. climb up & set everything up. then pull either of them up to you.
Thanks for showing your sling setup. I’ve been curious how comfortable they are and how difficult they are as opposed to climbing tree stands. I know climbers are limited to certain trees but I would like to try out a setup like yours. Love the channel !
Get a bow reel man, clips on the saddle very small and compact and hook it to your bow, feeds out line as you climb then when you have your bow all hung up you reel it back up, it’s smaller than a deck of cards
Chris, I’m looking at adding stabilizers to my bow. How do you manage your longer stabilizers in a saddle setup like this. I feel like they would hit the tree.
I was looking at these tethered setups. They look much better and easier to bring in then a traditional tree stand. Also as a added bonus it looks more stealth too so you might be able to leave the platform in the tree even on public lands.
I made amoveable aider, 1" tubular climb spec webbing, frost knot at the end and tied in some steps. super simplistic, weighs nothing and common in the climbing world for DIY Ladders
Get some Kydex clips from Eastern Woods Outdoors and put them on your Mollie loops. Tie some SHORT paracord loops on your sticks and platform and hang them off the clips, very quiet and much simpler than twist ties
I like cable aiders. Hell, you could 3 stick it with cable aiders and be 20ft. Those rope or amsteel on the sticks? Has a ton of stretch. Cautious. The stick might kick out.
Agree with everything you said! Ive been getting well over 15 feet with 2 sticks and cable aiders. But CAUTION is right! I had a stick kick out way back in some public with no cell service. I was stuck in the tree for 20 minutes or so! Scary stuff.
Saddle are supose to be light and very mobile, but it comes with a high price, deer stands also o lot give u the option to shoot the direction of which ur face and with the saddle u can move around freely and use the tree as cover when deer come in, I bought a saddle and I love it, I’ll never use a deer stand again
What is the REAL advantage to saddle vs something like the lone wolf .5 stand with sticks....??? id rather be sitting on a seat with the ability to stand up
Pay the extra and get an Apple SD card reader that you can use with a iPhone or iPad. They are a lot better than a cheaper copycat card reader. Exodus did a video about the pro’s of using one.
Hey Chris you will probably never see this but if you do I am a huge fan and I am 13 and trying to get my first deer with a bow and I was just wondering if you have any tips for ground hunting Treestand hunting just not working for us this year
So I've never hunted in my life. I am moving to Alaska in a semi-secluded area outside of Wasilla. The land we are purchasing has limitless access to literally as much wilderness as I could ever want. I want to get into hunting simply because a single caribou has enough meat for me and my wife for a year. Any recommendations?
Watch some meat eater episodes where they hunt caribou so you can at least get the idea of how it goes. Steven rinella sells a large game hunting guide that goes over everything from what you should bring to how to dress the animal. It's definitely a good investment for a place like Alaska where you can hunt so much large game
Ditch the sticks and check out NY saddle hunter and there rope climbing videos. That’s the route I go now and it’s so much better than the steps. Set paracord pre sets wear the saddle in and some rope in you back pack and that’s it super lite super fast much better coming out of the tree at night in the dark. Most of the time I don’t even use a platform anymore if you can set up close to a limb no need for a platform. It’s worth a try for anyone serious about saddle hunting run and gun lite setup
How long do you usually hang in the tree? Any problems with fatigue? I’m highly interested, just a lot of money to spend, like to know people’s opinions before going all in.
@@andrewbrowning1605 yeah Andrew I usually set around 4 to 5 hours but have set much longer also with no trouble or fatigue. I have found that if you plan to hunt say 25 feet up I try to set my rope so that it is at least 6 to 8 feet over my head the more rope you can give your self the easier it is to move around the tree and an adjustable bridge is the way to go also. Also you can always climb with the rope and get to hunting height and go ahead and tether in and set you platform and hunt just as you would if you were using sticks to climb it’s all preference. Me myslef I try to go in as quit and lite as I can and that has been the best setup iv found so far. I climb DRT and to climb that method all you have to have is a climbing rated rope. I use the Samson predator rope from Wespur and they sell it by the foot I paid right around 85$ for 75 feet of that rope and that will easily get my feet to 30 35 feet. Also now there is a promo code on NY saddle hunter for 10% off if you use that it would be even cheaper. That’s less than a set of sticks that you will probley only be able to get up 16 or 18 feet with. I recommend this to everyone wanting to be quiet fast mobile and super lite. My entire set up is right around 10 pounds and more than half of that I wear in on the saddle. Best thing I can tell you tho is check out the NY saddle hunter channel on TH-cam because there are several ways and techniques and they cover them very well and then you can decide what’s best for your style of hunting and budget. I guarantee though if you give it a try it’s the only way you will hunt from then on.
@@edwardkramer8738 Saddles are actually much quieter to set up than a climber, he just doesn't have a good system of carrying his gear up the tree in this video.
Everything about it looks like a goat rodeo! When I rock climbed many years ago, hanging belays halfway up a wall were so uncomfortable. Can’t fathom sitting that way for half a day. Gear intensive endeavor as well, I doubt u would save any weight as opposed to hiking in with a tree stand…my thoughts…
Never hunted in a treestand but it’s always interesting to watch any video you have on it man.🤙🏽🐝

Your arrow is sticking out so it dosent really matter

They definitely have perks and drawbacks.
Just started bow hunting and got my first deer off a saddle and a compound. Beereal ftw
At video time 1:53 what is that thing that is plugged into the iPad. What is the name and we’re can I buy it at

thats what i ended up doing. I feel like the twist ties would be a royal pain when youre trying to get them untwisted lol
What card reader are you using for your iPad? I’ve been looking for a new one and yours seems to be user friendly.
Good! Better! The best!!!! 🏹🦌
🤘
What camera setup are you currently running when you solo hunt? What shop dipped the climbing sticks? Thanks.
Would you be able to make a video on what you bring on an all day rut sit?
Can’t wait for the western tour!!!

Been loving the insta posts, cant wait for those vids!
What’s the adapter you’re using to see the trail cam pictures??
I’m old school I just scurry up
And down a couple times seems easier than latches and ropes
Whats the difference between a saddle and a tree stand? This is going to be my first bow hunting season im thinking of getting a tree stand next year.

What card reader is that? All the ones I’ve gotten have been junk
The video I’ve been waiting for
what game camera do you use
What kind of cameras you running with those good videos? And how long the batteries last?
For the bridge problem you just need to tie a danish plat and it won’t get in the way, easy to tie and looks good also, and easy to untie
Love the vids Chris 🦌🦌
Your screw gate carabiner is wide open, try to get in the habit of shutting them. cool set up all the same!
chris is keeping it contestant with the posts

What is your bow setup for white tail this year?
Great videos as always. What saw are you using? Please. Thanks again.
What lab top are you using to read cards?I like the small compact size.
That was an iPad with a keyboard
Either an iPad or windows surface
Google chrome book is great
Just get a card reader for your phone. It’s super easy
Pay the extra and get an Apple SD card reader that you can use with a iPhone or iPad. They are a lot better than a cheaper copycat card reader. Exodus did a video about the pro’s of using one.
Is there anyway you could let me know what kind of tape you used to wrap your sticks? Thank you
Stealth strips
@@pa_fly4514 thank you
It’s the calabiner! 🤣
What trail cam do you use? That’s some clear picture!
Read the brand on the pictures.
How long can you hang like that before feeling fatigue?
Do you hunt wiha in Kansas?
can you do a video on how to install the kadong
do you have to cover up that mineral hole before you hunt there? this is Iowa correct? or Missouri?
Yes and it’s far from stand locations
@@ChrisBeeReal cool
What’s the difference between the rope man ascender and the Kong?
You have to use the Kong for their new 8mm ropes. The ropeman 1 is for an 11mm rope. Same principle though on both.
Hey Chris you will probably never see this but if you do I am a huge fan and I am 13 and trying to get my first deer with a bow and I was just wondering if you have any tips for ground hunting Treestand hunting just not working for us this year

@@jeffsmith8066 Thanks for the tip.
You can hunt bear as well in Alaska. 1 kill every 2-3 years, though.
My wife loved the pic of the thistle and the bee.... She has a thistle tattooed above her ankle.
Good luck Chris from Canfield Ohio .
What Sitka pants do you wear

Hi Chris love the vids keep up the good work
4 mini sticks with a versa aider I can get my platform 22' without stretching to much
What trail cams is he using?
Check put Genisis 3D they print alot products to hang ur sticks and platform off your saddle
How do you age the deer by sight?
You can still see the sweat lines on his hat 😂
Put hockey tape around your steps on your sticks it’ll keep it from making noise
You should try one sticking perfect for run and gun public land great video
What kind of mineral site is that?
Which saw is that?
I’d look at some aiders either amsteel or tubular webbing! Get higher with less sticks and weight
Love to see new videos
Where in Ohio are you gonna head? There's some good hunting out here in some of these counties.
Can you go over your set up Chris
Love the videos
I killed a non typical buck 45 min into opening archery season I hunt in West Virginia
Seems like a pain in the ass, why not just use a climber 🤷🤷😂😂
You couldn’t even climb the tree he showed in the video with a climber….but yeah, simple straight trees are easy with climbers.
I'm just talking in general not to many trees like that in my hunting area looks like a loud pain in the ass 🤷🤷
@@edwardkramer8738 Saddles are actually much quieter to set up than a climber, he just doesn't have a good system of carrying his gear up the tree in this video.
Do more videos like this!!!!
I’m sporting one stick climbing. I’m surprised your carrying 6 sticks. B-cause one is lightweight than 6.
The way you have the bottom sticks is pretty dangerous. You don’t want you’re rope to be at that much of an angle
I ordered a hat a week ago and it still hasn’t shipped if you see this chris
Where in Ohio are you going I would love to meet you maybe go on a hunt I'm in Northeast Ohio
I'm tryna buy some merch and it's saying my number isn't valid
Saddle in my opinion is doing to much I’d just use my climber for hang and hunts

I promise a saddle is lighter, just as fast to set up, and aren’t limited to power pole trees
Have fun carrying that climber and finding the perfect tree lol
Honestly it looks like a pain in the butt, but nobody ever said it was easy
You need to look up one sticking so much better
I am a disabled hunter I have to hunt out of ground blinds. Wt my bow
