My grandfather was married to his wife for 54 years before she passed and it took almost 2 years for him to get back to living comfortably without her, and he passed just a month ago. They were both 19 when they got married, and just before we went to burry her he kissed her forehead and told her he loved her one last time. He also decorated her grave himself, going to the cemetery every week until he died. The older generation definitely knew love better than we do now. Edit: to those saying sorry for your loss, I appreciate it very much, but they're together now and I'm sure they're happier than ever. My grandfather was married to his wife for 54 years before she passed and it took almost 2 years for him to get back to living comfortably without her, and he passed just a month ago. They were both 19 when they got married, and just before we went to burry her he kissed her forehead and told her he loved her one last time. He also decorated her grave himself, going to the cemetery every week until he died. The older generation definitely knew love better than we do now.
Edit: to those saying sorry for your loss, I appreciate it very much, but they're together now and I'm sure they're happier than ever. I did not intend this to be a pity comment so don't feel obligated to put ur condolences. I'd much rather celebrate the lives they had than wallow in their loss. Thanks again for the kind words, though, as it has been hard for my mother. Please pray for her in her troubled time.
