About the creative process : I first designed the bassline on the J-6. Pretty straight forward with the "beat" set to "1-2" to achieve a 8 bars long pattern in 4/4 time signature.
Then I composed the main melody and the "bridge" in Bandlab and programed the S-1 sequencer.
While still with firmware 1.00 I decided to upgrade it to 1.02 (highly recommended and fairly easy to do). To my great surprise i discovered that you can write any combination of notes including different step length in the limit of 4 notes simultaneously in "poly" mode For instance, you can write a 3-notes chord of several steps long and have a one-note-at-a-time melody playing on top of it. That's what I did in this track because the J-6 was already in charge of the bassline. It is perhaps not perfect but for me it adds richness in the track and opens new interesting possibilities !
Like the J-6, the S-1's pattern scale is set to "1-8".
The track needs 5 patterns on each machines to play the different part of the track.
Because I liked the track, I also decided to replicate it in the MC-101 :

I watched this version after the other, it’s interesting comparing them. I think the MC101 version is significantly better, it sounds more polished, and the swells are really nice. I really enjoyed both, BK 👍🏻

I totally agree with you. I could have spent more time on the aira compact but the MC-101 sounds really well with very few adjustments. On the other hand I still think the compacts are really great to learn and be creative through their limitations

Oui, j'explique pourquoi en commentaire ! Comme il s'agit fondamentalement du même morceau c'est facile de le repliquer dans la "grosse" boite et ca permet de faire le comparatif sonore entre les 2 configurations !
