Bigkik - Dreams of Goa 2 (Roland S-1 + T-8 - J-6)

Being back after a nasty flu ;-)
Some old style goa vibes here. No particular tricks ; each device plays its parts. I used extensively the midi sync to switch patterns from the T-8 (which is midi "master" in this case). I used a total of 9 patterns for this track.
I also used 1-8 delay on each units and I like it a lot. I discovered this setting while studying Deadmau5 tracks and i recon it works perfectly imho :-)
Tempo is set to 145 bpm.

I used the 1-4 preset for the pad and the 3-4 preset for the arp. The notes are strictly the same except the style/variation for the arp (2. 1.).
Sonically we are stuck in the presets and I tend to use a few of them. But the sequencer is really powerfull imho.

J'hésite toujours à acheter le S1. J'ai lorgné pendant un moment sur le Roland MC101 que tu possèdes, car il peut aller jusqu'à 128 pas, ce qui est pratique pour une ligne de basse plus complète (32 mesures), ce que le T8 ne fait pas et c'est bien embêtant.

Merci. Choix difficile ! Dernièrement j'ai acheté du matos d'occasion, c'est peut-être une solution pour la MC-101... On peut la trouver à moins de 300€ sur Audiofanzine par exemple.
Honnêtement elle peut faire autant si ce n'est plus que le T-8, le J-6 et le S-1 réunis... Simplement je la trouve moins "fun", moins immédiate que les compact...

@@bigkik oui je comprends. On peut déjà bien s'amuser avec le trio t8 S1 j6.
Je m'amuse pas mal avec le t8 et le j6 en ce moment. Je pars de rien et je lance des trucs intuitivement. Parfois ça rend bien et parfois c'est un peu plus merdique. Mais à force, on développe de bonnes habitudes et on automatise pas mal de choses.

It depends on your expectations. It can help you with its built-in chord bank. The sequencer is, once understood, easier to use and faster to program than conventional once imho (especially for arpeggios) but it has its limitations. Sonically I find it limited, being a preset machine.
If you can get a good price and have the money, yes it might be worth imho.
