This tutorial currently has: 5.9k Likes and 111 Dislikes
In keeping with our promise of full transparency to the viewer, NBST videos will now list the amount of likes and dislikes in the pinned comment. We believe it is important for the viewer to know the like to dislike ratio when determining a videos quality (especially in the tutorial scene) as it offers an accurate and unalterable depiction of the general response to a video.
We do not want viewers to feel that we are in any way hiding information from them, so we have elected to do this until (hopefully) another method is made available to creators.
    Thank you for choosing NBST

You don't need turn off all the firewall, just add server port in "Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security" > Inbound Rules > New Rule...

This method definitely works however I did take a different route instead of using the "Public IP Address" from google, the input I used for the player connecting to the host is my IPv4 Address. This solved the issue of the Terraria app saying "Connection time out". Also to note this video method seems to work only for LAN connections so you have to be connected at the same wifi, I tried going upstairs and turning on my cellular data without being connected to my wifi, I attempted all sorts of IP Addresses related to my host, all which resulted to forever "Connecting to: (IP address)" I couldn't verify if it can connect or not since my patience ran out. So to viewers curious if this works or not, my honest answer is Yes if you're connected at the same wifi as the host, but if you're someone who's connected to your own wifi and not the host's wifi then No, I guess.

But when I try and give my friends my public IP (the one you google) they just get stuck on a "connecting" screen. Ive disabled firewall also. Dunno if you'd happen to know a fix or if I just fumbled somewhere along the process...

    • @DRECUBED

Hey There Triston Good! I'm not 100% sure what may have happened here, but my best guess is that your IPv4 address changed once your router reset due to the outage. Try running "ipconfig" in the cmd again and see whether or not your current IPv4 address matches the IPv4 you previously entered into your port forwarding configuration. If it doesn't, just replace the old IPv4 with your current one and you should be up and running again.
Let me know if this works! :)

A good tutorial, little sidenote/fix, you shouldn't really turn the firewall off on a pc that is constantly connected to web, instead you can add an exception to firewall(terraria), allowing only the terraria process to bypass security, and limiting the risks to only Terraria application, and trust me you really need to rub someone the wrong way to get them to deliberately attack you through terraria process :) stay safe cyberbuzums

for some reason it doesnt work, friends still cant join :(. I can join the server with my IPv4 address so its probably something to do with my port forwarding, but i'm not sure what the problem could be. I disabled the firewalls on my ISP and windows defender and set up a virtual server like you did with WAN port and LAN port 7777-7777, but it still doesnt work. I used some online port checkers and they cant find the port.
