  • Pastor Robert Morris has from his pastoral role at Gateway Church. Along with that, the Gateway elders are now claiming ignorance of the details of his "moral failure" and have hired a law firm. In this video, you'll get all the details and some lessons to take away from it all as Christ followers and church leaders.

I pray along with you that the God will continue to "clean His house" and expose sin in our altars. I don't know your circumstances but pray His sustaining love will draw you closer and back to Him, once again, if you're still offended. I've walked with the Lord for over 30 years, and served in leadership as well. I can tell you that the underlying issue is that in a number of cases pastors recruit elders that are pretty much loyal yes men. The congregation votes on the elders to the board but the congregation is generally uninformed about specifics. I have experienced this reality first hand. The Gateway/Shady Grove Church elders should have asked for all the details of Morris's story and interviewed the girl for her part of the story but they took the easy way out and apparently investigated nothing. Outrageous!! If you are an elder, you are obligated to get to the truth and protect the body of Christ even if it involves a "highly gifted" teaching pastor.

Do you also believe Donald Trump should be condemned? And "fired"? He has not only been found guilty of raping a 57 year old woman but one of the dozens of women alleging he sexually assaulted them alleges she was 13 years old when Trump raped her at the home of Jeffrey Epstein (then a good friend of Trump) in 1998. She alleges that she went to what she was told was a NYE party at Epstein's apartment in NYC but found only Trump and Epstein and some other underage girls were there. Her name is Katie Johnson. Shouldn't we believe the dozens of Trump's victims and demand he step down? How can we as christians condone that? Shouldn't leaders and presidents be held up to high standards as well?

⚠️ People, let these exposures be a warning. Judgment begins with His house, and He said anyone who loves Him will keep His commandments. It is a wrathful thing to fall into His hands of wrath.
Night is coming, and the Lord is exposing the Mother of Harlots and will distinguish her from His Bride. Many claiming Him will see Hell for there lawlessness. While the is not qualified, may he truly repent and live a repentant life with this as part of His testimony of how the Lord can restore anyone. We need to walk in the fear of the Lord, and obey His commands. I am disgusted by Robert Morris's actions, but sadly not surprised. The church is being run by a bunch of cowardly sycophants who wave the Bible, but know nothing about obeying it. God help us. I was away from church for several years, and have recently returned. Also, the church should have known this type of sin that took place but was not dealt with this properly, nor opened truthfully within the four walls of the church.
Her speaking it out publicly was probably her breaking through more of her healing and freedom to this sinful act that was done to her. The way it should have been dealt with in the first place.
Yes, she could have been set free also behind closed doors and not exposed it.
But again, may be she needed to do this because the Lord may have led her to do this.

Neither you nor I KNOW what they actually KNEW in the beginning. That is an ASSUMPTION, and it MIGHT be correct, or NOT.
Yes, American Christians tend to want to believe our spiritual leaders when they hear such "stories." But when someone uses evasive, vague, "weasel" words and phrases, and the ELDERS are reluctant to listen to the Spirit, face the doubt, narrow their eyes, confront the leader, and ask uncomfortable, probing questions about the narrative, that's where the Church fails and can become complicit.
It behooves them to make themselves aware of all the details. It didn't always used to be this way, but in this last generation or two this is what we have become.
But AFTER you learn something that casts doubt on everything you thought you knew, the first person who brings it up tends to get shut down and it's very hard to fight against still in denial.
That tells you that following and enforcing Biblical rules and guidelines is avoided among too many churches. It's considered "legalistic."
People who shade the truth (lie) and have a long history of doing it can be good at it and very convincing.
"Oh what a tangled web we weave
When first we practice to deceive."
      Sir Walter Scott
ONLY God actually knows. WE should never make assumptions one way or another lest WE be guilty before God of false accusation, which is in the same category as gossip.😬
We should remember Jesus words: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
And I'm not just saying this to you, this is something I have to practice, we all have to practice. Especially in this digital world.

I applaud Cindy for her courage and boldness to come forward and tell her story. I can relate to her story completely as I was a victim of a pastor's abuse when I was 11. Thankfully, I told my mother as soon as it happened and my parents called the authorities first, then the church elders. The elders immediately terminated him and he went to prison. That is what should have happened in this case. Yes, God will give him forgiveness if he truely repents, but he should still have to suffer the consequences. Cindy, I hope and pray that you will stand firm and stay the course. May the Lord bless you and comfort you.

This often happens. The very people who are telling you to behave are actually telling you what their tendencies are. Haven’t you noticed that political candidates and religious figures promoting family values are often caught with their genitalia where it isn’t appropriate? Trump= sex abuser, rapist, bragged about sexually attacking women, liar, adulterer, swindler, and more; Jerry Falwell, Jr, -= a man who likes to watch his wife have sex with 18 year olds, and so many more! Time to wake up! Blind faith is no faith at all, but being led by someone else, true faith sees the traps, decides for self, to walk the line of righteous behavior. You have to look to yourself for the answers, those telling you how to behave, are too often simply in business for themselves. If your faith is real, you alone are responsible for it, not someone making a huge amount of money and power telling you what to do. Jesus Christ knew the temptations of wealth and power, and turned his back on them. He did not praise the rich, but preached against them (Eye of the Needle), found the religiously powerful people to be pseudo religious, holier than thou hypocrites (his comments upon the Pharisees), and when asked by some of his followers to claim earthly kingship, replied,”My Kingdom is not of this Earth.” Look long and hard at those building grandiose churches, traveling by private jet, claiming your money is needed to further their work, snd those who preach against others, or advocate condemnation of others. May your eyes. Be opened and your path straightened

Wow!!! Excellent commentary. I suspected institutional preservation was going on based on the elders' responses too, I just hadn't been able to label it like that as a way to describe how I was feeling. So, as a current member of Gateway Church, I feel you are not off base in what you are saying about all of this at all. And I can also say that one of the most hurtful things of this whole process has been the reaction of the elders in response to this crisis. If the church is "all about people" as their tag line states, then why did their own members have to find out about everything that happened through the media? Why did we not receive a personal email or text addressing the church body directly, explaining what happened and what the next steps are going to be? (And I don't mean hiring a law firm! Lol) Better yet, why have I not been invited to an all-church prayer meeting, or been offered pastoral counseling from the church, made available to all of its members, in order to help cope with such a devastating loss? And yes, ELDERS OF GATEWAY CHURCH: DON'T YOU WANT TO INVESTIGATE IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY MORE VICTIMS SINCE THE CHURCH'S INCEPTION?
Robert Morris and the Gateway leadership have broken my trust. I, like many others I'm sure, are trying to figure out, pray, ask God about whether or not to leave the church. The existing Gateway leadership response will mean everything in the days ahead. I hope the leadership folks truly care and are listening. But unfortunately there has already been a track record of nontransparency and seeming lack of care or concern in some areas of the church, in my experience previously. In a culture of getting surveyed about how I've liked my time at a doctor's office or during a customer service call, I have yet, in my 17 years of attending Gateway- and volunteering my time and tithing God's money-received any kind of query from them asking for my opinion as to how the institution might be improved.
This is a long comment I know so lastly I'll say that this commentary, Bob Hamp's commentary, and Cindy's courageous actions in speaking up, are brave, mighty, and downright historical, and I hope they start a seismic shift towards positive change/overhaul in all religious institutions. Thank you for your prayers. I too am praying for all involved.

If There’s no statute of limitations on this, he needs to be charged, prosecuted and imprisoned. Forgiveness has been done by the church, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t serve his sentence. If his heart was right he’d have surrendered to the law years ago to endure punishment. The fact he swept it under the rug implies no actual repentance. Do the crime do the time. No surprise that they are lawyering up. According to a former staff member at this sham of a church there were several elders and/or people in leadership positions at this organization who knew the truth and knew the victim was an innocent child and not a young woman at the time she was assaulted. As recently as 2005 the victim reportedly told the churchbeldersnthe truth. These elders are in my opinion despicable. Robert Mirris in his own word ls admitted he sought out vulnerable girls. These offenses as reported by this victim constituted rape of a child and as such were reportable offenses.Reporedly one of the individuals who knew this had a background in law enforcement. He and anyone else who knew the details and failed to report it as a mandated reported should be in prison along with this pedophile and child rapist. His statement about the offense after the story broke clearly demonstrates he has no remorse. What kind of miserable excuses for human beings much less Christians puts someone like this in a position ot authority over a church body including children? Furthermore the wife of Robert Morris allegedly blamed the 12yr old victim. In my opinion she is.jusr as disgusting as he is.

It's very convenient to accept that lie because it protects their "legacy" and their incomes!!! The victims of these horrific acts and the congregations of these leaders are shown just how valuable they really are. All we have to do is to look to the example of our Lord Jesus, his original 12 apostles and the apostle Paul. None of those early leaders heaped up fortunes for themselves or victimized anyone in any way! Instead, they lived pure lives in humility and were willing to die for the message of Christ.

his personal worth may include housing or other gifts given to pastors as part of the compensation package.. They vary church to church. He was permitted to resign as it probably impacts the departure package vs a firing for cause.. but what he owns through prior compensation including personal books sales belongs to Morris unless as contractually provided for in his agreement..the Elders cannot arbitrarily repatriate income just because.. it’s certain that Morris,, at a minimum, will end up with a significant monetary impact. How many truly knew the truth? I don't know. That is on their own consciences. However, Mr. Morris has yet to repent if this remains the case. The Elders failed miserably in their role to protect the flock and must go as well

I’m not only in shock but, confused as well. I followed Pastor Robert for many years. He is a gifted preacher. I have many of his books. I wondered why he wasn’t on the TBN lineup, as of late and started to google as to why; to come upon this shocking news. I pray for the victim and her family, as well as for Pastor Robert and his family. God bless us all.

I just wonder how many more PASTORS are going to come forth? The Lord used my pastor mouth 👄 to tell us back in January that this is the YEAR for Exposure and everything that was done in the dark GOD is going bring it to the light 💡. I think we as a church need to pray 🙏🏽 for all PASTORS and LEADERS instead of talking about them PRAY 🙏🏽 for them…

The Elders don't want to lose the congregation cause they will lose their job and benefits. Forget the fact that a crime has been swept under the rug for years while children's lives were subjected to possible abuse. It's all about GREED.

What really wrong here is the elders let him stay as the head pastor all these years. Do you think that when you are in leadership that you stay silent to sin behind the scenes.. Why are you in leadership if you are not leading.

If you research the time away from the ministry, he actually only stayed out of ministry for 1 month. He worked, I believe, as a security guard for a month, went to work in ministry in a different place, and returned to the original church two years later. But he did NOT take two years away from ministry. ONE MONTH!!!

Dear lady, I feel for you the trauma and pain you and family have gone through. My question is, if you would have gotten the money $ 50,000 you requested, would that have erased the trauma and pain you’ve been through, even if Robert Morris would have been fired? Remember we are all human and we fall, but as children of GOD we had the strength in HIS power to get up again, But the Bible teaches we also have to forgive the wrong doers but to also forgive ourselves. If we haven’t done that jet, no amount of money can change the situation. You lay heavy on my heart dear. 🤔🙏🙏🤗🥰

I support your decision to do so! Years ago, I attended a full-gospel church led by a pastor who was also secretly targeting young teen girls. I was unaware at the time, but the Lord directed me to leave the church. Afterwards, it came out that a congregant found his teen daughter alone with the pastor at the parsonage. Then my best friend at the time told me how she had been called into his office where he kissed her on the lips. He then tried to keep meeting her alone in the office. She refused. He also did this to another friend of mine. It does matter who you allow to lead you!!! These sorts of people are wolves!

I thought they said, he came forward at the time and confessed, now everybody wants to crucify him. I don't condone these actions by no means but, did anyone forgive pastor Morris? Because if you didn't, can't, or won't, don't expect God to forgive you for anything you have done either. I think a lot of people going after this pastor, hate God and his Shepherd anyway. Mind you (I DON'T DON'T CONDONE HIS ACTIONS, BY NO MEANS). I'm just saying, after he's been nailed to the cross, is there anyone going to forgive him? ijs. ✝️♥️🙏

Of course, he deserves to be forgiven. He, however, must undergo punishment from the law. Forgiveness does not exclude him from the legal consequences of this situation. Forgiveness does not exclude Gateway and any of Gateway church counselors or Gateway church Elders who knew of any criminal activity against this girl now woman between the years of 1982 and 1987 and did not report it. Having the knowledge of a crime as a counselor or Elder and not reporting it to law enforcement is a crime in itself.

This is a great breakdown of the situation. Thank you for sharing the actual letters (facts). I am hopeful that others will come forward, if there are more victim's they can help to protect others. Help others to heal from the events that went on by not burying your head in the sand and saying I did not see it. Please help others who may have been hurt. The victims matter more than the one who victimized them. Even though God forgives the victim's matter.
