@anessahamilton9279 for Robert's family, Gateway, and the grandkids.....a very minute/small/insignificant mention of the "so called young lady" who was 12 years old when she was sexually assaulted by a 21 year old man....continuing until she was 16 or had just turned 17. Yeah, his son-in-law thought he was doing damage control.....no mention of worth noting for the victim....a 12 year old girl.

    • @FaytheInGod

@@carygriggs7he didnt need to repeat the victim's age or her name. It was very obvious that the SIL meant the girl, Cindy and there may be others as I highly doubt she was the only victim of RM. We only saw part of this sermon & he may have said her name at the beginning tho again we all knew who he was talking about. I dont believe he was condoning Roberts actions or anything else

@@SueBradbury-zz6rp well you have to remember that he hasn't been in court and declared guilty yet. He's only been accused at this point in time, even tho he basically admits to it, and should be in jail, he will have to go to court and be found guilty before he gets sentenced to jail, no matter that we believe he should be in jail already. He gets to have a trial first, unless he makes some sort of plea deal.

I so appreciate your sensitivity and understanding of how far reaching sexual abuse is!! I was abused by a youth leader and didn't tell my parents for 20 years. When I did, they chose not to say anything to protect his family! Also, I was married for 25 years before my eyes were opened to my husband's acts of abuse with our daughter and then later our granddaughter. He has never admitted any of it and he has had no consequences. My daughter then married a man that was an abuser. Our family is so dysfunctional and torn apart. I have, alone, tried to be there for everyone but now at 63, am unable to handle life myself. Sexual abuse of any kind changes your brain and therefore your decision making process. I am so thankful that through it all, God has drawn me (many times kicking and screaming) to Himself. I know God uses all for our good and His glory and this is what brings me comfort! Thanks again!

Janice, I am so sorry. I understand you completely as I am a survivor as well. Someone who was abused this way by her pastor father told me once to remember that Jesus was watching and He was weeping. He did not cause this sin, Satan did. That has stuck with me ever since. I hope it can be a comfort to you. He loved the children and always called them to Himself because He was loving and gentle. He is our hope and one day we will be with Him in a place where no one can hurt us again. Cindy will be there too and many other abused women. But we will be whole and totally healed. Thank you for addressing the fact that though God is a God of love and forgiveness, God IS a God of justice! Robert Morris has not truly repented; rather, he continues to deflect blame. However, "whatsoever a man sows, that he shall also reap!" My heart is so heavy for Cindy for the many years she suffered without support. Many of us who have been abused, have been victimized again by the church, who sides with the abuser; listens to and believes the narcissistic lies of the abuser. Jesus knows the truth! Luke 12: 2 reminds us that "there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known." For all the brokenhearted, Jesus has promised that He "will never leave us or forsake us." Keep clinging to the Lord through this horrific trial. Cindy is a living testimony of her faith in the Lord through this whole sordid time, bless her heart. Clinging to Jesus is what has helped me to heal from years of abuse. Isaiah 42:3 has always encouraged my heart. May this verse encourage many who are greatly suffering in these days: "A bruised reed He will not break. And a smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth." Thank you for sharing your thoughts in the midst of your own heartache. May the Lord be the "lifter of your head," as Psalm 3 encourages us all!

I don’t need to hear any apologies from the man of God Robert is today. Believe me, I have no doubt that the sorrow and the grief he is experiencing now is so much worse than any of us can imagine. The shame of the sin he had committed over all of the decades ago, has opened a wound to bring on much pain and sorrow to his entire family and his church family. I was on the other end of the sin of betrayal by my husband. Trauma is awful and I’m sure he is more concerned about the pain that this has brought on to his wife, children and grandchildren. @@karenhatmaker7775 this needs to be a lesson on how to properly hold leaders accountable. The rush to forgive and restore the leader is so misguided. It's always about the leader needing to stay in our her back in the pulpit and victims are told to forgive and move on with their life. And if they struggle with that, they're not good Christians. The Church has so much work to do. This formula that you've laid out is the go to response for decades and it's the reason so many leaders have not been held accountable and so many victims struggle with what happened to them for years or even decades. Until the victims become the priority and the Church learns to truly bind up their wounds, no amount of restoration will matter.

I know how difficult forgiving is in this situation having been horribly abused and cheated on myself for many yrs. God's grace is greater than the pain of the abuses. What bothers me most is the way some of Robert's closest friends have totally turned on him for something he did and repented of 30 yrs ago. Thank God that He doesn't treat us this way. I know he has to face the consequences of his actions. But the church should be about restoration of the victim and offender . Let’s go to the word and see how the Bible handle it Forgiveness is the 🔑 as God has forgiven us . The same measure you give will be used against you. Again, let the lord comfort the victim and church, let’s not destroy each other , but know that we have an enemy. Lets tender grace , for by grace we are saved, not works . ❤️

He never repented. What you have to ask yourself is why you are so dead set on protecting and defending a pedophile. This pig continued to lie about what he did, and when the truth came out, he still lied- calling her a "young woman" when she was a little girl; and saying a "inappropriate relationship" when he groomed and molested a little girl and stuck his fingers inside her for almost FIVE YEARS. When she filed a civil suit against him in 2005, she only asked for $50,000, to cover the cost of lifelong therapy she has needed; Robert and his lawyers told her no- we'll give you $25,000, and you sign an NDA, agreeing to never tell anyone what was done to you.
That is nowhere near asking for forgiveness or repentance. Jesus said it is better for a man to have a millstone hung around his neck and be tossed in the middle of the sea, than what He's gonna do to him, for hurting a child. Stop coddling pedophiles and start caring for the victims. It's sick minds like yours that kept this evil man in the pulpit for all these years.

This "who are we to judge" nonsense is old and falling on deaf ears. Asking for forgiveness does not mean he is a changed man. Then I thought of king David, his sin of adultery with Bathsheba and his trying to cover over his sin, even to the death of her husband Uriah. Sin is sin and we need not brush it under a rug, I am not saying that. But God is a very merciful God and does forgive and restore what the locust has eaten, and we ALL need to remember that. And the other point is this, this is all from Satan to destroy the church, his family and to cause, at the least, great division, criticism and judgment. But each of us need to remember," For ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God", all of us! and failed the Lord and our families at times, some much worse than others. Jesus also told us, Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. I am praying for mercy from his church family and that great glory and good, and healing to come for those believers and spiritual growth. God can and will bring beauty from ashes for those who place their hope and faith in Him.

It takes nothing from the young lady who was sinned against if we acknowledge the concurrent pain of Robert Morris' wife, daughters, family, and church. I'm amazed at the level of judgement so easily expressed toward an innocent family. Many of us ARE concerned for the primary victim and many of us ARE praying for her. Still, it's 100% right and good for pastors to encourage the wounded sheep to keep their eyes on Jesus, not on fallen Man. There's no need to bring up the victim's name every time. Virtue signalling does her no good; praying for her does. It would seem from some of the comments that the church is no more humbled by the Grace of God they've been shown than the critical theorists of the World. What I’m waiting to see is the church reaching out to pastor Robert and Debbie to acknowledge their redemption they worked through and embraced and believed in Jesus’s forgiveness. How could they have served feeling guilty or shameful? They believed in their forgiveness. They committed to serving the church. They’ve done this for decades. It’s like we are judging this act and refusing to be Christ’s love towards Robert and Debbie. Don’t you see that outwardly loving Robert and Debbie will not lessen their consequences?? I’ve not heard one supportive statement to them. This is not a reflection of Christ’s love. 😢

@judywilliams2213 Judy, my father was a minister, and he was caught cheating on my Mom in 1970, when I was 13. He was put out of the ministry, and we had to move away, to put distance between him and his paramour. Prior to that, I had formerly viewed him with almost the level of respect I had for Jesus. Then, in 1992, my sister told me that her son said my Dad had been molesting him since 1989 (he was 3 years old then)!!!! This was also surprising, but less so because the respect I used to have of him was already gone. He served 2 years in prison, had 9 years probation, and spent the rest of his life on a sex offenders list. In 2012, my son told me he had also been molested and that he couldn't remember who his perpetrator was!! Of course, we both suspected that it was his grandfather because of Dad's admission of guilt in the previous case, and it was SO devastating!! Knowing Dad's hair-trigger temper, I had done almost everything I could to shield my sons from him EXCEPT not ever seeing my parents again. I NEVER left them alone with him! But my husband, who'd been assigned to take our sons to the men's bathroom at my parent's church, had trusted Dad to take them to the bathroom 🚻 a couple of times. And this was possibly when it happened! My son has rejected God and church, possibly for this reason! Trust me, families suffer the most when their family head and minister has moral failure!!!!

To me it is very obvious after seeing the emails from the victim to RM in 2005, he had ample opportunities to make things right and consider the heartbreak he caused the victim. But he didnt - mayb it was his pride and the fact he was in such a high position, he thought he was invincible. He probably didnt want it exposed even back then, as often abusers love the power to cover their sin. If the sin was exposed, he knew he had committed a crime and so often told his congregations about his immorality with a young lady, not a 12 yr old girl. I (Linda) respectfully would like to say this happened 40 years ago. Since then, as far as I know he has not continued in this sin.. The American Church is soft. We have yet to learn what the forgiveness of God is. It is easy to sit in judgment on one and not the other. I understand this went on for 5 years. She said her parents knew about it. Obviously, they did not know about it until many years later. Why 40 years later? I am sorry, but the victim is not pure in this. At first, yes in the beginning, but now? If we didn't need a Savior, we wouldn't have one. If we didn't need a Redeemer, God wouldn't have given us one. If we didn't have a Deliverer we wouldn't have one. We live in a battleground. The Church is terrible at destroying their own wounded. This whole situation at the root is a grievance between 2 people. I question the intentions of the 50 plus year old victim. This should have been dealt with years ago. Jesus gave instructions in Matthew 18. There is a process. The Church is negligent in following the Word of God concerning these things. If God forgives, then who are we to not forgive? A mature person in the Lord will forgive and move on. People who leave the Lord because of what another does to them are spiritually immature and refuse to trust God. When we idolize men, they will fail us. When we worship God and keep our focus on the Lord, we will grow in grace and favor with the Lord. I trust that God will bring healing on all levels in this. Just as King David committed adultery with Uriah's wife, Bathsheba, who became pregnant with his child, and then David killed Uriah using the enemy to do it, God sent a prophet to confront him with his sin. David's immediate reaction was repentance. it is amazing that even under the Law of Moses, God did not remove David from his position and order him to be stoned. There were consequences that effected his family, but he remained King and is still honored as being in the Messianic Family Line. REPENTENCE IS NOT AN EMOTION, IT IS A CHANGE OF BEHAVIOUR. This has been seen over the years in Robert Morris's ministry. I am not saying he is perfect or pure, but neither is the other party. FORGIVENESS IS BIG WITH GOD. WE NEED TO GROW UP AND BECOME THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS HE HAS CALLED US TO BE. We must remember these people are part of the Family of God and pray for healing and wholeness for all involved. We must lift up the person who had this happen to her and her family, and the Morris family that these things can be remedied according to the wisdom of God and not the laws of man.

Changed behavior???? 😂 Are you serious? He gave a sermon many times on Jake’s Motel that he dedicated his life to God in 1981 ROOM 12. He said that he may have sinned but he never returned to sexual sin! He said if you were saved when you were 8 and you sinned sexually in your teens, that your salvation was not real like his wife Debbie. He said Debbie’s salvation was real at 8 because she was a true believer during her teen years. He said that he turned in 1981 and that’s when he was actually saved because he didn’t turn back to his son knowing dang well he did what he did from 1982-1987! He preached this over and over! I was thinking for years that I wasn’t truly saved when I was 10. He said my family was cursed because we weren’t tithing. We started tithing! I reached out to gateway for help from my cheating ex husband! The pastoral care made excuses for my ex and made me feel as if it was my fault! They made excuses for the cheater!!!!! This would be totally different had he been honest and said that he was “saved” in Jake’s hotel and fell back into sexual sin, but he didn’t! He made us feel that our salvation wasn’t real! This is not a man who changed! Everyone let him preach room 12 over and over, making people feel like their childhood baptism wasn’t real! There’s something wrong with this on soooooo many levels! Unbelievable that anyone would say this! How inconsiderate of the victim! It’s so hard to come out because you are afraid of people like you!!!!! This is not God’s fault, this is a man’s fault! He lied for years! We also went to a 911 couples counseling after another affair with my ex. That couples home group also blamed me, “the wife” and made excuses of my ex with his porn addiction! Her whole being and innocence, childhood, young adulthood, shattered, destroyed, twisted and total confusion then and every day since up to today and beyond. Utter annihilation of all she knew and believed in to be true, gone. Never to get even a shred of any normalcy, ever again. Even if healed, it remains in her memory, feelings and continued thoughts.

Sure there's going to be victim haters, but I expect Cindy counted the cost and felt it served everyone best to expose a hypocrite and false teacher, especially someone that never should have been in church leadership.

I don’t feel the family should be held responsible for the sins of their father . They were children themselves when this happened. But Robert still should pay for his CRIME it is a crime to molest a child .

Gateway has been my place of worship two different times. I have watched Robert’s sermons many many times. For people to even infer that Robert is not a repentant man…..I may be missing something….but have we not seen that fruit with our own eyes? People need to look at his heart not his sin. This is the exact thing that Jesus did in his ministry. Matthew 15……what comes out the mouth is what defiles us. These things have not come out of Robert’s mouth…..he is a repentant man. He’s been in counseling has he not? The woman that’s going all over the place to continue spewing her bitterness…..she needs to repent and let Jesus heal her. Bitterness is just as damaging to the body of Christ. I was molested by two men when I was 6 years old (am 70 now). I carried that bitterness for 24 years until Jesus healed me. Noticed I have gone 40 years without bitterness…..what’s wrong with this woman that cries she’s a believer, but yet she still walks broken. If she is truly a believer then she needs to be healed where she does not want to see “justice” done to her perpetrator. Does the body of Christ forget about forgiveness….do they not preach the Jesus of the Bible. I am disappointed that this sin was hidden. But I am more ashamed that the body of Christ does not heed to the scriptures. Let go of the hurt, the bitterness, the unforgiveness, the hate, the retaliation…..let this Jesus of the Bible heal your wounds. He will do that if you ask him.

You are missing something. He did not repent. He lied about what he did for 40 years. Does that sound like repentance? He didn’t come clean. He got caught.

Out of all the men that served God in the Bible, they too had to repent, which they did to be able to serve God and bring others to Christ.
Robert Morris was definitely in the wrong, but I truly believe he has repented.
He has been greatly used by God since repentance.
I don't know if he asked the woman and family to forgive him and possibly this is what he needed to do for them to get through the horrible acts that he did.
I do not know what the family or the woman went through mentally and I do pray they can get through this now by forgiving and moving on.
I can understand the anger, frustration, hurt and pain, but after 42 years, forgiveness is their only way to find peace for themselves.
Did she and the family try to call Robert Morris before going public and try to talk about what happened?
Maybe, he has tried to call you to ask for forgiveness, if not, he should.
If he has called and they didn't accept his repentant apology, then they should again try to reach out to him for their own peace.
Joyce Myers was sexually abused by her father and she found peace by forgiveness.
Yes, it took her many years, but that is when she got peace from God.
Unforgiveness holds us captive and keeps us bound from going forward.
God has forgiven many sins of many of His teachers and followers.
He forgave murderes and used them, of course after repentance.
That did not help the ones that were murdered, they could not forgive the murderer but Jesus could and did, just as we should.
I'm sure the murderer relived those murders over and over even after repentance, because even though God can forgive them it is so hard for us to forgive ourselves a lot of times.
Eventually we can when we truly understand His forgiveness and that is when we can forgive others.
May God's forgiveness fill all of these hearts so all may feel the freedom of peace that God wants us to feel.
