His domination of the sport for the past few years (vettel and Schumi were hated in the same way at the time), the fact his car was the best (even though it wasn’t when he won his first wdc with mclaren), the fact he isn’t an extrovert and is kind of cold and calculating (much like his mentor Niki Lauda) Obviously there’s also the racial component but nobody ever wants to acknowledge it

Vettel is 2nd favorite for the same reason. He was way more cut throat to win his titles but is now just the funniest, nicest bloke and utter legend.
Lewis a good man, I don't get why people hate him. Same for Max, on track he's aggressive, but as a person he's a nice guy,
