I've been going since the first one. Saturday arvo was pretty wild. The heat and beers always brings out the "looseness" of the crowd. I stayed away from that area and chilled out. By Sunday arv I was desperate to get back to the Sunny Coast 🌞 . I'm lucky to have a son living in Canberra too.

The Stittmobile has some history. Started off NA hooning around the Castle Hill showgrounds on Friday nights in between racing F1 rc cars. It had a turbo added, got stolen and recovered. Had a lot of work done to the rear suspension, full respray and lots of polished engine parts. And blown head gaskets. 7Ms love a blown head gasket.
Thanks, Al. I've copped some stick by commenting about d-heads putting organised events like Summernats at risk of being shut down. Not only does is put the event at risk, but as the saying goes, "It's all fun and games until someone has to call an ambulance."

After modifying cars for 30 years it makes me respect what some factory engineers are capable of. I still love watching this stuff though, and still love swinging the spanners....and crimpers.....and the welder. I'll never get it as good as factory but certainly have fun trying. I grew up a grommet but the older I get the more bogan I get.

After watching your video i wanted to know what happened on Saturday that you didn't show any footage of, so i watched a couple of other videos. The event organisers have to really take a look at what there promoting and so many things but WOW.
great to see Stitty made it into the episode. kind of inevitable really, a local with another Crown (which he's had for about 20-odd years). I've ridden in that dicky-seat and still got pics of what it looked like before its transformation. top episode, unfortunately Summernats never really has my attention because it has everyone else's, and yeah... inevitably it leads to what happened on 'that' Saturday. problem is bogans don't know a limit, and won't until something becomes that limit. I'd rather save my money and keep away from that shit, personally.

HK,T,G can be easily identified by taillights, the HK has the slim lights with the chrom trim extending across the boot, the HT and HG lights are similar but the HT has a chrome strip between the red and amber lenses, HG doesn't. So in short the monaro was a HK and the premier was a HG.

Many lessons learned. I'd suggest a little bit of self editing of the behaviour among groups is required. That means not glorifying skids through crowds outside maccas until the cops show up. I agree the security hired were low key useless. I agree the yobs got loose. Its your event. Treat it like its your kid's backyard party and it will grown up strong respectful and disciplined. Sometimes the kid needs a clip over the ear and a quiet word

I would have happily accepted a ride in the RX3 mate. The lap in RotorBens ute took quite a while due to 2400rpm idle speed and a Honda half radiator but we made lots of new friends randomly pulling up in peoples campsites to let it cool down every couple of hundred metres.

Pity its come to this but after almost being taken out by an out of control blown HT, HG, HK on Gunghalin drive, in heavy traffic, when taking the family to dinner and what we witnessed inside Nats on Sat, I can see why it needs to change.
