I think she's a beautful and courageous woman, as well as incredibly strong. Ellen is such an inspiration to me, a lot of people don't notice how brave she really is.

I am a chinese girl, who grow up in a small city of China, I don't know what gay is like, when I was young, and I "ACCIDENTLY" become a gay. that is not I planed for or I was taught to do so, I just met someone and become aware that I am fallen in love with a person who is at the same sex. Please be tolerent, our love don't hurt anyone and we respect anyone else and I believe we deserve your respect as well. Don't hurt us any more!!

I've been in a 10 year relationship with a samesex partner, and have no regrets, or even care what people think about me.. I love my husband and always will, I grasp at the possibility of marriage , but until we as a society decide for ourselves to stop trying to control what we don't understand, we will never be able to progress forward in a peaceful excepting existence.. Sad really.. I love Ellen and I thank her for paving the road for understanding with her pain and tears.. I love U Ellen.

Dealing with people like this is not easy right now, now imagine in the 90's when people were more uncensored in the way they spoke and LGBT+ rights weren't really taken into consideration or even thought of existing by cishet people... Ouch... When I came out I threw a coming out party and invited everyone by giving them rainbow invitations and saying "Come to my coming out party this Friday!" I mainly got replies like "You're throwing a what party?!" :P No one was horrible, I wouldn't let them come to my party if they were.

Honestly, the show stopped being funny after her coming out. She tried to turn the show into a gay version of 30 something, forgetting it was a supposed to be a comedy. The first year (when it was called These Friends of Mine") was actually the funniest.
It makes me sad to see her crying... All she ever wanted to do was be true to herself and make other people laugh. I'm glad she ended up being so successful because it is a big middle finger to the ABC president.
