    It's amazing how much society has evolved...even journalism. This segment makes so many ignorant remarks by ABC news "gay agenda" and just the general tone of her being gay is made into such a huge deal...yet today being gay is no big thing at all, and most of humanity has progressed to accept gay people as everyone else. Humanity always prevails. Love Ellen.

      It’s so true. I was thinking the same thing. Most of humanity has progressed to accept AND LOVE gay people EVERYWHERE. And I love your thought HUMANITY WILL ALWAYS PREVAIL. Yes! I have so much love and respect for Ellen.

    I can tell you all that in 98 after Ellen came out the year before people in Hollywood and on ABC were being too over dramatic! Because of the way they treated her and Anne Heche the two of them retreated to a ranch in Wyoming till things settled down. It breaks my heart to this day what poor Ellen went thru. She was just trying to help people and make those that are gay comfortable in their own skin. I'm so happy that shes well loved by everyone and she just wants people to accept her for who she really is. She also wants to help those that are suffering in the world with an illness or money issues. Like her words what she says at the end of her show everyday "Be kind to one another"

    Ellen's a smart gal and made the right choice. That sitcom was garbage, just like most sitcoms, but what she did with it is legendary. She's right--one year doing what she did was better than a decade doing a "safe" sitcom. It would've likely been pulled eventually even if she'd never come out, just because she was the only interesting aspect of the show. And now look where she is.

    I remember watching this show as a teenager in UK and loved the humour of all involved.
    Never did I once question the humour or any topics involved in the episodes, to me it was comedy and great.
    I watched the last episode with tears, as I couldn't understand why they had cancelled this amazingly funny show. I was saddened/ angry/confused that it had ended.
    Then years later when Ellen's talk show appeared and it became bigger and bigger and bigger, I thought back to the sitcom and wondered, how many people who turned their backs on her then, where now climbing over themselves to be involved !!!!!🤔

    Seinfeld isn't about Jerry being a heterosexual male. WELL DUH. A tv show with a gay character coming out is going to have different episode themes than a show with a straight character. If society didn't whine about gays in the first place, we wouldn't have that issue.
    'Our audience has been dealing with racial issues, and is much more open to differences in race than differences in sexual choice'. Ok Sherlock. That's BECAUSE of pioneers for civil rights....like ELLEN! Plus it's not choice.

    A person isn't about their sexuality~ its about who they are as a person! What they do in their private lives behind closed doors, has nothing to do with anyone else! Heterosexual, metrosexual or homosexual, Black, white, yellow or red--- who we are as people doesn't change us because of our skin colour or sexuality! I love Ellen & her great talk show, as she has a heart of compassion for EVERYONE... Thanks Ellen for allowing us to be apart of who you really are xx:) A big fan

    Today I spoke to few of my friends, and they were all homophobic. One of them told about the punishment given to the gay people (in bible) another one was disgusted at the whole idea. For a second there I didn't know how to tell them that one of my all time favorite celebrities is gay. I was thinking of Ellen the whole time each time they spoke against gay people.
    I love Ellen and because of her as a heterosexual I am proud supporting gay people.

      karthu1993 i feel like a lot of people demonize homosexuality instead of realizing we are all human and we all sin and in the eyes of God all our sins are the same. So me judging someone for their sin is hypocritical when i also sin, just differently

    She did help pave the way for equality.. I love this woman, she is a light to every Gay person, and some who might just happen to be in a dark place in their life. She is a huge inspiration. Personally, I owe her a lot, even if it only be the fact that she exists in this world. I'm still waiting to legally marry the love of my life, so progress has a ways to go, but I am thankful for what rights I do have, even if I do have a sense of 2nd class citizenship, it's shifting in the right direction.

    I know Ellen's not the most favorable character in the world, but I feel so bad just watching the newly-found happiness from the '97 interview, finally being out and feeling free to be herself, to how defensive and hurt she is here. ABC are scum. America is, has, and always will be scum, but I digress.

    I live in Spain and I'm homosexual. I saw the series when in was already canceled in USA and didn't knew who Ellen was and all that happened because her coming out. I was really surprised when I saw "The Puppy Episode", although it wasn't a great deal here.
    I agree that the next episodes revolved too much around her sexuality compared to the previous ones, but I think the real problem is that they became too serious and less funny.

    • @luisnatal8658

      But black people was hated as well. Black people had to live with an apologetic attitude for years. It is not the same, but socially does not make any difference. We are all people, we do exist.

    • @jeremyjeriscando3553
      @jeremyjeriscando3553 11 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Black people do NOT have monopoly on civil rights. Black people think they own pain and suffering...you don't..native americans, woman's liberation, chicano movement, jews all suffered...and so too are gays with homophobia. One thing that can't be denied is the black community has been at the forefront of anti gay laws and voting against gay rights. That's a STAIN on YOUR black community. Every other demographic seems accepting and open minded, but black people consistently want to play the oppression Olympics. More over, I the black community wants to get biblical...it's laughable considering the black community has the highest rate of teen pregnancy, divorce and out of wedlock pregnancy. So please spare us your anti gay soap box.

    • @collinsmugodo380
      @collinsmugodo380 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As true as that is, the oppression is similar. There are people who stand as firm on their opposition to skin color as there are people who stand firm on their opposition to sexual orientation. The only difference is when you're black, people will accept you can't control it and it's who you are even if they're racist...they can accept that simple fact because it's visible. You can see it. If you're gay you're isolated because unless other people are gay too, they can't share in your struggle. if gay people had a permanent stamp on their forehead from birth that said 'i'm gay...people would accept it easier. But as soon as something is internal people automatically assume that you can control it. And that's not right because that's like painting the world in black and white when nothing in the world is that simple.

    • @SandrineAnterrion
      @SandrineAnterrion 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeremy Jeriscando poor poor little orphan gay guy!!... Why is gay woman Ellen using the Black thing then? That was my point.... Monopoly?!!!... Do u do the same to Jews or women? The same amount of resentment? Beside the fact that I was merely making a light joke of the whole thing, I do think u need to come down a notch... Keep ur political crap to yourself. Black bashing bastard.

    @HorrorDoctor Because straight people do not relate to homosexuals. Simple as that. It's not a hate, or a dislike. It is simply a different lifestyle that tends to not interest heterosexuals. I don't see why this is shocking to people. I'm not a big fan of tennis. If there was a sitcom about tennis, I wouldn't watch that either. What's the big deal? When homosexuals stop being a minority, I'm sure there will be more homosexual shows.

Just as a kids show is not going to hold my interest. Why? Because I'm not a child. If there were enough homosexuals, I'm sure the show would do just fine. This doesn't make it a "gay" issue.

    Just knowing I serve Christ should tell people my views. Why hate? Why tell them that I think its wrong? I will in a discussion group because it is for opinions or if Im asked.
    But I can keep my beliefs and still love people. Christ does.
