    I’m in the market for an ultra wide monitor
    I only need it for productivity
    I won’t be going w the dell only for one reason
    customer support is a nightmare ‼️‼️‼️‼️
    Anything but a Dell 😖😫
    What are your thoughts on lg ultrawide 49”?
    Thanks for the review

    Wow...this is old, but I ended up buying both the Dell and the Samsung. I got the dell which cost around $1100.00 and it worked well for work, but when it came to gaming...no can do. I already have 2 Alienware 25" gaming monitors and one went bad. The AW's are 1080 and 240hz refresh 1ms response time. I returned the Dell and bought the Samsung for $899. I must say, the Samsung needed some tweaking for productivity, but gaming it works flawless. Its not as good as my AW but way better than the dell.

    The question is how well does the Dell or other upcoming QuadHD 32:9 monitors display the 1080p based res of the older models.
    Some users may enjoy the full res desktop experience but for gaming seek to go with the lower res (if the monitor scales well)?

    I would go for the Dell Ultrasharp 49. But if it would be a model that is as wide but at least 30% higher that would be even better

    what would you recommend for a side monitor for running and viewing multiple windows at once. For instance I game on a 27" monitor which i find to be the perfect size for me when it comes to gaming. a 49 inch monitor would be the monitor i use to have open my stream software, chat windows, and web browsing. I'm currently using a 27 inch monitor as my production monitor and have to switch between tabs to view different windows during a stream which is a pain. Being able to have 2-3 windows up and running in view at the same time is the utmost importance. Also would be using it for work in video editing and photoshop creation

    HI. Tanks for this video in the first place!. I was debating on these two brands. I am more inclined towards the Dell bcse I need it for productivity ( excel and business apps) but maybe my bf will be more inclined to the Samsung for the gaming and the price too. I wonder which one is better for eye strain? I spend 8-10 hrs daily in front of the computer and my eyesight is not very good. I appreciate your answer.Thanks

    What is the minimum required GPU to use these monitors please, without hurting your eyes, nor experiencing tearing nor stuttering?
    Let's just say use case is for everyday office work use, not gaming... will it need the 12GB RAM of Titan GPUs?

    • @floriandury5720
      @floriandury5720 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you'r not gaming you won't need a expensive GPU, but if you do then go for a GTX 1070 or a RTX 2060, that's the bare minimum for a smooth experience imo. Also for tearing and stuttering i bet at that price these screen have freesync or gsync so no problem here.

    Very important to note, Dell has IPS compared to Samsung has VA panel.

      @Sup3riorr 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh rly ? And by that u are implying what ?

    • @GAzcona
      @GAzcona 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      IPS has better accuracy, color, viewing angle than VA panel. Unfortunately, VA has higher refresh rates than IPS.

    • @Lemure_Noah
      @Lemure_Noah 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also VA has contrast is around 3000, and IPS is below 1000. The above Dell has less than 700. Colors, specially gradients, looks (much) better on high contrast monitors.

    • @JoNNyCLOUD171
      @JoNNyCLOUD171 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The viewing angle is nearly identical at the most extremes which is a pointless experiment to begin with because who the fuck sits at those angles.
      Also the panel doesn't guarantee colour accuracy vs another, its a general guidline but in this case im not sure which is better but the Samsung has crazy good accuracy with well above average in each Gamma category and I believe true 10 bit colour not 8 bit frc which is crazy good on top of HDR content from console games and films that have a lot of support even if it is the lower tier HDR, its still really good on this size of a monitor with the rest of the specs.
      Also IPS gets backlight bleeding which is likely over time if used for gaming which for 150% of Samsungs price is not something you want to really be purchasing.
      The Dell has 1 strength over the Samsung, and its for top end editing for picture detail so long as your only using the half screen resolution at which point you should ask yourself...... "Why not just buy a 4k, 5k or 8k 29 inch monitor if its truly that important like a job or something.
      Samsungs is the better all around and better gaming that also offers that immersion that a smaller monitor doesn't provide. It has a place in the market unlike the dell tbh.

    What laptop are you powering this with? I'm considering purchasing one of these for use with a Dell XPS 15, but I'm unsure as to whether the laptop can drive the Dell UltraSharp 49" at the full 60hz

    • @Tresla
      @Tresla 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For anyone looking to do this. I did it and it worked just fine. Turns out the total number of pixels in this 49" behemoth is actually less than a standard size 4k monitor, which the XPS can also drive just fine.

    • @SmidgenPC
      @SmidgenPC 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Probably the Dell? I really like refresh rate and HDR are the Samsung but if you're going to be seriously doing work, the Samsung's low (for its size) pixel count might get to you. And it's not like the Dell looks bad in games. 60Hz V-Sync isn't the end of the world.

    • @Yeet42069
      @Yeet42069 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the samsung personally but thats because i enjoy gaming as a past time more than anything, if you're serieus about getting better productivity out of it with 60hz gaming on the side go for the dell. If you, however, don't really care about text sharpness and know your way around the sharpness control (build into the samsing monitor ui at the very least) you can turn up the sharpness all the way and slightly make the windows and other program ui smaller through the windows interface to mimic what you would see on the dell with perphaps some jaggy lines here and there if we are talking about text. Spending less money helps as well.

    Very good review! Thanks took most of all the guess work out of making the decision. Problem is I want the res. of the Dell but the price and refresh rate of the Samsung. Think I like the curve too of the Samsung but that alone wouldn't be a deal breaker. So, which one would I buy? Still undecided, Monitor would mainly be used for work. Just think the 33% increase in price for the DELL is a deal killer, I actually want two stacked, no now we are talking huge cost differences! Thanks again for a great review!

    i currently own the samsung super ultra wide and ill tell you this, coming from a 1440p monitor, the 1080p resolution really really bothers me. I dont care what anyone says, HDR, refresh rate, etc doesnt matter if you can physically see the pixels on the screen, even when viewing from a distance. I thought it wouldn't be noticeable while gaming but if i had the choice i would go back to my 3440 x 1440 monitor and just play at 60hz. 1080 on a 49 inch monitor just isnt enough!! only get this monitor if you need the 144hz

    No reason to get freesync when amd cards are so far behind. And i would never get a 1080p res, after gaming on higher. I would wait for a least 1440p with gsync or the new line of amd cards. I would also wait for true hdr of at least 1000 nits. Shame that monitors are so far behind tv's right now.

      I do agree FreeSync is just kind of ok...Nvidia cards are definitely what most people buy. But if it had G-Sync they'd probably start at $1,500. Still have to make compromises, I guess.

      @@SmidgenPC having had both a gtx1080 and a vega 64 I would disagree. In most games the 1080 has no more than 5 maybe 10 frames on the vega 64 at best. In others the vega has higher FPS. The Vega is especially good at 1440p gaming. There fairly well matched. Through in the savings you get on a freesync monitor vs gsync and price to performance goes to AMD.

    Content truly comes alive on the CRG9, with dual QHD resolution (5120×1440) and HDR10 with a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, providing superfine detail in the brightest and the darkest parts of an image.
