a little note about voltai - the reason krill gets depressed after killing her in particular is that she 1. obviously has no idea what’s going on, and 2. might legitimately be a small child. every other boss that kril has previously fought has done so because they straight up wanted to murder him, but voltai says in her opening cutscene that she’s lonely and wants to play. killing voltai is a major turning point for kril since there’s absolutely no malice being leveled towards him in the fight, and by killing her he’s briefly become just like roland - destroying the life of an innocent bystander for the sake of an easier, faster way to get to his goals. of course there are major differences in their circumstances and you could definitely argue that with kril’s knowledge of the treasure and the race that was going on killing voltai was justified (although I personally don’t think so. if the treasure were a dangerous weapon then maybe, but kril is fully under the impression that it’s just money) but ultimately that doesn’t matter because an innocent person is dead either way. kril recognizes this almost immediately after doing it and that’s why there’s such a drastic shift in his character for the second half of the game . it’s a bit hard to pick up on if you’re distracted from struggling with the fight but kril’s subtle turn here is my favorite bit of writing in the entire game
I came to the same realization after beating Voltai. I actually stopped playing for that day. Just dropped the controller and thought, "My god, I just killed a child."

There is a stowaway called rubberband that you can find in the factory which makes you immune to electric attacks. Making voltai's hairdryer, adapter and the attack where she bursts from the wall do literally nothing, making her the easiest boss in the game. I personally am guilty of using the glock though, i didn't know storywise i have to come back to the cannibal crab later so i tried to beat him straight away and i got angry
@@drake637 I have no shuckin' clue. I tried it on against the big crabs with the battery hammer. Still died. Thought it doesn't really work and never tried it on again after this.
WHAT!? i thought the enemy crabs were homeless or overworked shells of themselves. That were desperate to rob you and they were looking for micro plastics. Made sense with when you meet a LOAN shark in the beginning 😅

Great game, great themes, great summary! I'm so happy I just discovered this channel. I loved how you did a little bit more of an analysis with the ending here more so than you typically do with your other videos.
Voltai can be hooked to remove her electricity except for the toaster, just something that might help someone if they're struggling with her, and so you don't need to use the accessibility mode (maybe)
You’re supposed to use the toast as platforms to hit the electric eel. And use the rubber band to make sure immune to electricity. The gun is not needed 😭
Oh I got the toast thing, I just had no idea about the rubber band or being able to unplug the appliances 😂 I’ve since gone through and beaten the game again without using the accessibility menu so we’re good!
I really hope there's a dlc for this sometime in the future. I feel like there's a lot more that they can do in this world. We never really get to the bottom of the gunk. If I remember correctly there's this crab that you meet near the beginning who says something like "I'm worthless" & then instantly turns into a normal enemy crab. My theory was always that as soon as one of the creatures in the ocean truly believes themselves to be worthless they become just like an animal in real life with no personality, & it's cool commentary on how we see humans sea animals as worthless.
@@NotFrickingNick nice, I literally finished the game like an hour ago it's so fun, I might replay it to see if other bosses have similar gimmicks that I missed out on.

I think I had upgraded it 3 times before this point? Maybe only twice. I put this video out the day after the game released so towards the end I just kinda rushed it with parry windows increased to make it a little easier. Then I went back and played it legit and 100%d it :)

Its funny cause Firth promised that he would never be like roland and never be SHELLFISH and also said he would share the treasure yet the second he got it he immediately went back on his word not even caring about Chitan's life
“The absolute worst thing you can do is nothing” except that runs entirely counter to the actions of Krill in this game. At two points in this game Krill acts on anger and makes things significantly worse for those around him. The second of which has literal apocalyptic implications for the residents of New Carcinia. Surely “doing nothing” is better than spurring a literal apocalyptic event.
@@zGoldenHawk he did something and not only is the city buried under trash island anyway, he also destroyed the only immediate fix to the problem in a fit of childish rage.
Yeah, I didn't really like the ending. It undervalues Chitan's last words about using anger as fuel responsibly, and it honestly makes Kril look more like a villain than Firth, whose antagonization comes from misunderstanding.
@@oggolbat7932 i does undervalue chitans words because kril always embraced them subconsciously, dude was always angry and even he acknowledges it (and that he was angry but didnt know) chitan was always in the wrong not because her intentions were bad but because what kril did at the end was exactly the path that chitan would follow, using the whorl to destroy the bad people but then we see what happens when you use power to only violence but no betterment, he makes things worse due to being overly emotional. chitan is the radical revolutionare which is even why she was vulnerable to praya, its why she said that while praya used her body, chitans own anger was still being used.
2:05 oh wow a going under reference, wait is this game made by the same devs? oh shi- agro crab actually showed up it totally is made by the same devs also inkerton is a reference to the pinkertons who are known for union busting and magic the gathering cards
Remember, never talk about how ancient nomads, like the aboriginals in Australia, destroyed the lush forest of their homeland because they decided the best way to hunt was mass fires. That is to say, every system has greed and destruction in it. That said, the overall message of how you, PERSONALLY have to act for the world to change is accurate. So that's nice at least.
On the note of colorful (kind of) soulslike games with strange creatures instead of humans, have you by any chance checked out Clash: Artifacts of Chaos? Like AC'sT it's very colorful, creative, has solid gameplay and more to the story & characters than one may expect. It's not fully Soulslike though there are recognizable elements. More focused around melee and martial arts than weaponry, and a prequel to the Zeno Clash series. It's become one of my favourite games in recent years and can warmly recommend it. Clash: AoC is also a prequel to the Zeno Clash series, so there is more to look into beyond the game alone.
Thanks for summing up the plot and making the messages the game wanted to convey relatively easy to understand. It was clear from the get-go that environmentalism and critique on capitalism were the main themes of this game's story, but what really stuck out for me personally was its take on violence. When that snail at the beginning started attacking me, I immediately reacted by swinging back only to realize a few seconds later that I could have just decided to run away. Instead, I killed a non-zombified being with human-like (or, in this case, crab-like) intelligence, and to rub in the meaninglessness of my impulsive behavior, the shell it left was too small for me to wear, meaning that I didn't even benefit from my brutal action. I just sat there for a whole minute and then decided not to let this death go to waste by promising to the dead snail that from this point on until the end of the game I would be very careful about where I'd swing my fork at and avoid violence wherever possible, a promise I was reminded of by Nemma when she pointed out the horrific nature of fighting against other sea-creatures when talking to her in the Expired Grove. I just finished the game for the first time, but technically speaking, I didn't finish it at all. When the prompt for attacking the pawn owner appeared, I was awestruck. I was instantly reminded of my promise, searched the whole city area for another way of ending the game, of just leaving the shell behind and letting it be. You could argue I did exactly what the game's credit scene said was the worst thing to do: nothing. But at least from my point of view, I did something: I decided against violence. I sat there for another minute, took a last look at the pawn owner and my shell, said "Fuck it!" ... and turned off my console. I honestly couldn't have wished for a more phenomenal ending to my already overly-phenomenal experience with this game. Thank you so much, Aggro Crab 🦀
There’s so much nuance to this game and Kril is such a flawed and impulsive protagonist that it really makes Another Crab’s Treasure a gem of a game. Easily my favorite of 2024 so far. Thanks for your comment!
I agree for the most part of your arguments except the last section:''Prawnathon deserved it''.Prawnathon deserved it cause unlike Firth who is naive,good-natured,oblivious to stuff around him and looks through blinders Prawnathon was evil, greedy,a bootlicker and knew what his actions does.He doesn't care about anyone but himself,a merciless bastard who will side with anyone who holds power for his benefits.By striking Prawnathon we do the right thing:Prevent him from becoming another Roland.
Honestly the message could have been better handled with the ending. Making Firth understand how the pollution is affecting the ocean and redeem him instead of killing him mercilessly, polluting all the city, and then for some reason making Kril look like the hero.
@@oggolbat7932 but the thing is, the story wants to point out tha krill was wrong in the last second, he got too angry, he got the perfect whorl and instead of using to save new carcinia chitan, he focused his anger on firth and only firth, his choice to be more violente than he should have was what caused the tragic ending, if just got the whorl, undid what firth did and went on to push his own plans then krill xould have either saved the ocean or maybe in a more tragic way develop a god complex e rule with an iron fist of a god. in the end the whorl being destroyed was kind of necessary since it would be cheap for such powerful macguffin exist and solve everything. the ending we got is a solid neutral ending with a good message.
I wasn't happy seeing the ending at first but you make a good point, it's the only "real" ending one can expect. No one here was good, all were working for their own interests and Kril was no different. The few will exploit the many and all you can really do about it is limited to your own sphere of influence in your own life. Granted I'm a Christian so I look forward to death with joyous expectation, not fatalistic depression. And the time I do have can best be spent doing what good I can in the time that we have. There's no way you're going to change how people act in general, 'nothing new under the sun'. But you can do the few things that actually matter by helping others; Feed the poor, visit the widows, care for the fatherless, take in the stranger. In your own life, avoid things where you can that feed the corrupt systems. Use your things longer, repair them, buy used, keep things out of the dump. Garden, if you can. Not because you'll change the world but at least you can do what you can.
Hearing other people's experience with this is interesting. I honestly struggled the most with Pagurus out of any other boss while I considered Voltai the easiest out of them all
No no you’re good I was just very stupid and also dumb during this part. I’ve since gone back and beaten this boss legitimately after learning more about her 🙂
This game is twisted, I have never played something so unrelentingly dark. Kril is just a avatar of destruction and despite all the talk of making a change he just kills and endangers everyone then leaves his victims to clean up as he moves on to undoubtedly cause more chaos without ever growing or changing as a person.
I know you said the themes are subtle as a brick but your video just made me realize the acronym for the game is literally ACT like someone shouting at you to get your shit together Kinda wished there was more hidden more in the video but thanks anyway
Hearing someone say that voltai is a difficult fight surprised me tbh when I was playing it I was at the edge of my seat thinking it was gonna stop being easy suddenly but it never did, easiest fight in the game

You've mastered the skill of the one sided arguments, congratulations. Democracy isn't perfect either. That doesn't mean we should give all our freedoms to a nominal benign dictatorship.
I am simply echoing the message of the game. I agree they offer a simplistic take on it and I agree that any socioeconomic system is going to have major issues because people are shitty, but I also agree with the game’s final thesis that there is literally nothing that will fundamentally change with our current systems, so I didn’t deem it necessary to spend 5 minutes delivering a soliloquy on how communism only works in a vacuum or whatever. Hope this helps!

"Why should we own land? Isn't it just like there?"
To quote Squidward, "GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!"
You can use the rubber duck shell to nullify her attacks, if you didn't get the rubber band
I tried the rubberband, but still died to electric attacks.
@@multiverserifthow in the world did you manage to do that
@@drake637 I have no shuckin' clue.
I tried it on against the big crabs with the battery hammer.
Still died.
Thought it doesn't really work and never tried it on again after this.
@@multiverseriftI'm two weeks late, but I'm pretty sure it disables the extended hitstun from electric attacks, not the damage.
Fun fact: you can use your grappling hook to yank the cords out of voltai stopping her from using the gadget and leaving her open to attack
WHAT!? i thought the enemy crabs were homeless or overworked shells of themselves. That were desperate to rob you and they were looking for micro plastics.
Made sense with when you meet a LOAN shark in the beginning 😅
“YOUR DESTINED FOR THE DRAIN!!”
-Nephro Captain of the guards of kingdom Tyrant
“AND MAY YOUR B****** BE YOUR LAST”
-Gabriel the Apostle
“DONT do that again..”
-Sebastian The fish shop keeper
I love the child like design and the gulliton dude
fun fact about voltal you can fish the power plugs off her body turning off the weapons making it a much fairer fight
I just used a maxed out version of topodas ability and knocked her out so hard it deactivated the weapons for one cycle
Great game, great themes, great summary!
I'm so happy I just discovered this channel. I loved how you did a little bit more of an analysis with the ending here more so than you typically do with your other videos.
Thank you! Glad you enjoy the channel 🙂
5:28 The sands between.
I see what they did there
Krill looks like mrcrabs
This game is Mr. Krabs Origin Story
Added to my library! Thank you!
Happy to help!
9:08 the magic wand is crazy 💀
I about died laughing when she whipped it out and giddily exclaimed "I don't even know what this does!"
@NotFrickingNick for some reason, I doubt that she doesn't know 😂
It's a massage machine (I think)
@@SebastianMelendez-p8w Well, you can call it that
Voltal is easy if you have rubber band. It just negates All electricity based attacks.
Voltai can be hooked to remove her electricity except for the toaster, just something that might help someone if they're struggling with her, and so you don't need to use the accessibility mode (maybe)
If I took a shot for every krill joke I’ve heard in a,c,t. Videos I would be died way after the 30th
I love how the Sands Between is pun for the Lands Between lol
dude the key to beating volta is that there is a rubber band in the power plant that makes you immune to elctric attacks
Great video! Loved plaything through this one and adding it to my 100% list 👍
Nice! I have 2 more bosses to hunt down then I gotta find every shell. After that I’m going to go back and do Voltai and Firth without a gun 😂
What is the chance that I was watching someone playing this game and I got this video in my recommendation? Anyways great vid!
Thanks!
You’re supposed to use the toast as platforms to hit the electric eel. And use the rubber band to make sure immune to electricity. The gun is not needed 😭
Oh I got the toast thing, I just had no idea about the rubber band or being able to unplug the appliances 😂 I’ve since gone through and beaten the game again without using the accessibility menu so we’re good!
end game music was tranquil
I really hope there's a dlc for this sometime in the future. I feel like there's a lot more that they can do in this world. We never really get to the bottom of the gunk. If I remember correctly there's this crab that you meet near the beginning who says something like "I'm worthless" & then instantly turns into a normal enemy crab. My theory was always that as soon as one of the creatures in the ocean truly believes themselves to be worthless they become just like an animal in real life with no personality, & it's cool commentary on how we see humans sea animals as worthless.
Thank you 🙏🏻.. really like the way you present the story.. what a nice game 👌🏻
You can unplug the eels weapons.
Fun fact! If you play another crabs treasure than Maneater than biomutant it feels like you just played a trilogy
Wait what, you're telling me i wasn't supposed to fight Pagurus, the Ravenous the moment I saw him? Well fuck.
This game story was amazing. After the boss fight on the pinball machine with Krill just losing it is just ...different you know?
9:00 Nani tf also ty for making this video I was wondering what the story for this would be
No problem! It’s a fun game and an interesting story. And yeah when Voltai whips it out she’s like “I don’t even know what this is!” 😂
The video made my day thank you and you definitely deserve a follow❤
Thank you and welcome aboard 😊
I'm not sure if anyone's said this about the eel boss but I found out if you shoot a grapple at it you can disarm it momentarily.
Oh yeah I’ve learned all sorts of strats from these comments and I went back and re-played the game since I rushed this to get the video out 😊
@@NotFrickingNick nice, I literally finished the game like an hour ago it's so fun, I might replay it to see if other bosses have similar gimmicks that I missed out on.
@@joshuac-b8204try getting Pagarus to accidentally eat a banana peel
2:26 Fun Fact: Thats gianni matragrano, aka Gabriel Ultrakill.
I'm kinda mad that one of my fav streamers flushed this game before finishing it
don’t know if this is just purely for editing purposes but, when you killed prawnatahn at the end it looks like you still had a low level fork, you can use the stainless relics (keys) found in the game to upgrade your fork at the blacksmith in new carcinia at the under area
I think I had upgraded it 3 times before this point? Maybe only twice. I put this video out the day after the game released so towards the end I just kinda rushed it with parry windows increased to make it a little easier. Then I went back and played it legit and 100%d it :)
It’s funny how many angry reaganomics-loving bootlickers are coming out of the woodwork here
I thought “Capitalism has its flaws and can’t exist without exploitation of people and the planet” was like a pretty universally-acceptable statement but here we are lol
Well done, fantastic video!
The game surpassed my expectations. Yet another indie game proving why indie games are truly superior to AAA. I couldn’t put the controller down.
Just ELEVEN PEOPLE made this, it’s insane
@NotFrickingNick, WOW
Surely “doing nothing” is better than spurring a literal apocalyptic event.
if he did nothing the entire trash island would completely bury new carcinia
@@zGoldenHawk he did something and not only is the city buried under trash island anyway, he also destroyed the only immediate fix to the problem in a fit of childish rage.
@thricecreamcone yeah but the island was blown into chunks imagine how much more damage the trash island would do if it weren't in chunks
How is the eel boss hard just grab lil red cup and a few puffer qwils and beat the shuck out of the eel
Fun fact: Praya dubia is actually the genus name of the species the boss is based on.
2:05 oh wow a going under reference, wait is this game made by the same devs?
oh shi- agro crab actually showed up it totally is made by the same devs
also inkerton is a reference to the pinkertons who are known for union busting and magic the gathering cards
Voltai fight Just get esier wen you get Rubber band, and "navalha" The blade item, and a Love her design, this game was awesome
3:48 you just got coconut malled
Fucking coconut mold by the QR code
hey, your're a cool and good guy
thanks for making this video, it's awesome
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
I honestly struggled the most with Pagurus out of any other boss while I considered Voltai the easiest out of them all
when firth dies its a reference to the original spongebob movie ergo bigger boot
This, and Mortal shell are two good starting points to souls games
Before the game even prompted me to kill prawnathan I was already charging up with R1. Made the homicide even more satisfying
9:02 im not trying to that your wrong about that but you know you can unplug the items she's using by hooking them right?
No no you’re good I was just very stupid and also dumb during this part. I’ve since gone back and beaten this boss legitimately after learning more about her 🙂
Welp.

*casually screaming infestation from terraria calamity*
4:43 do NOT scan it i swear 🤣🤣
for the electric eel you can be immune to the electric attacks by using the rubber band or a rubber duck
This game is twisted, I have never played something so unrelentingly dark.
Kril is just a avatar of destruction and despite all the talk of making a change he just kills and endangers everyone then leaves his victims to clean up as he moves on to undoubtedly cause more chaos without ever growing or changing as a person.
1:27 THE OUTSKIRTS????
i wish there was a sequel of this game or dlc
It came out like 6 weeks ago give it time ❤️ hopefully Aggro Crab is cooking something
I know you said the themes are subtle as a brick but your video just made me realize the acronym for the game is literally ACT like someone shouting at you to get your shit together
Kinda wished there was more hidden more in the video but thanks anyway
Hearing someone say that voltai is a difficult fight surprised me tbh when I was playing it I was at the edge of my seat thinking it was gonna stop being easy suddenly but it never did, easiest fight in the game
Why is this game funny
Game looks cool but holy that "Le capitalism bad" message is so on the nose.
Learned that the perfect whole got no ability
How dare you make quality and thoughtful content while only having a small following, just for that im subscribing
Thanks! I’m trying not to have a small following!
Wow, I need to play this game
3:08 what is the gunk exactly, and how does it cause the crabs ta loss there minds 🤔
I think it’s soda or some form of drink that combines with other pieces of liquidy pollution
It’s just oceanic pollution, the creatures are corrupted because there’s microplastics in their bodies (plus some later revealed other causes).
Literally, it's toxic sludge. But metaphorically, I think it's supposed to represent nihilism
am I the only one who thinks the "guitar" voltai used was a scrubber?
Why did you have a shell that’s a red among
us
You buy it at Shellfish Desires and it actually came in clutch cuz it can drop a smokescreen and I used it to avoid giant laser-shooting crabs.
Should I watch this video now. or should I get this game and after I beat it I then watch the video?
Up to you! It’s a really good story so if you want to go into it unspoiled this video will still be here :)
I will leave a like and sub for now. Then come back after I beat the game 😂
Edit: Just wow, just wow. This games ending was insane. Vibrator eel was the funniest thing. And the writing during the abyss. 👌

There’s stowaway item called rubber band that makes you immune o electric
09:18 ...or Megaman, THE boss weapon absorber ;j
