Dead by Daylight’s lore is so simple and the real meat of the story lies with the backstories of each of the characters. The universe’s lore is just “there’s a god and it needs sustenance to survive. This sustenance is emotions. It does this by kidnapping these survivors and killers to play in endless trials of death and despair until they become insane, which it’ll repeat the cycle.” Short, sweet, and to the point. The lore needs no further explanation since it involves a god like entity that can bend the rules of conventional storytelling anyway it wants. Also, the entity doesn’t intentionally destroy universes. It’s just the consequence of it trying to stay alive. Kinda like you don’t mean to butcher the carcass of a fish, but you got to in order to get the meat and none of the bones or scales. While forcing people to kill each other is detestable, it’s hard to blame the entity entirely since it’s trying to farm its food to stay alive

I Haven't ever played Silent Hill and don't know a whole lot outside of it's a manifestation of guilt (I think). But one theory that I really like for Pyramid Head is that he's there to punish the entity. He rips holes in the trial (the trails he leaves when stabbing the knife in the ground) and starves the Entity of some of the emotions (When he executes a survivor as part of his power) and that's why he's able to keep existing despite his original purpose not being there in the realm

If I remember correctly there's this crab that you meet near the beginning who says something like "I'm worthless" & then instantly turns into a normal enemy crab.
