I have interview for train servicing... like making sure the train is perfect to go .... I have the job descriptions... can please help me ... I tried to buy your book on your website but I didn't find something similar for the position
You probably dont care but if you're stoned like me atm you can watch pretty much all of the new movies on instaflixxer. Have been watching with my girlfriend lately =)
Secured a job as a conductor last week and your guide really helped me immensely. From the application to the interview it really helped me to prepare. Thank you!!!
Hello Richard. I would like to thank you for making this video. I used this as guidance to help me prepare for my interview for trainee Senior conductor and it paid off. Start my course later this year. Great material
That is alot of good advice. I have an interview for BNSF RR this coming Tuesday and I've been kind of writing out a practice interview with their skills to mine and have read about the company through and through to get the concept of their values, culture and so on, so I can be ready to match and show them I'm a good fit and that I can relate and can do the job requirements. Thinking about behavioral questions and how I applied them to jobs. So great video. The thing about the Railroad I've learned is once you are offered a job it doesn't stop, you still have to learn and show them you can do it cause if you don't pass their classes and OTJ then you will fail and not have a job, so it's best to bust your ass and be serious about it especially safety
Thanks for your prompt response,I am going for CN Railway conductor interview and they are sole into freight transportation,no human passengers. Thanks for your effort, I'll be expecting your response

I have an interview for a Customer Service Advisor with a train company this week, have listened to your videos and made lots of notes but do you have any other advice?
Hi Richard, great video. Do you have any advice on where I can find customer service experience before starting to look for a job on the railway, or what kind of education would guide me the right way? Thank you.

This will depend on the TOC, and whether or not you have been successful. Generally, most companies won't send you any correspondence if you haven't been successful. I hope this helps!
Hi, I recommend checking out the eligibility requirements of the Train Operating Company you wish to apply for. Head over to their website for more details :)

There's one role that isn't mentioned in this video. It's opening and closing train doors.
Thanks for your comment. Of course, there are lots of roles to being a Train Driver - I didn't mention them all, but yes you are right :)
Probably the most important role of the job. Safety critical and you must be prepared for anything especially the unexpected
Thanks Richard this was very helpful!
You are very welcome :)

Will they send you a confirmation after completing the assessment test?
This will depend on the TOC, and whether or not you have been successful. Generally, most companies won't send you any correspondence if you haven't been successful. I hope this helps!
I know CN, BNSF and NS will send you a email letting you know you didn’t get they job.

CareerVidz would the train companies take on someone that has worked on railways before I have done a similar role on steam railways
No, Go back to where you came from and drive train!!!
Is this same as train manager role ?
Yes. Train managers are essentially the same except maybe they manage other onboard staff
