Bob was fantastic in that third. As a lightning fan im happy for Florida and their fans. It’s hard to root against a team that works insanely hard. earned cup win. Seeing the blocked shots that the panthers had, their insane forecheck in the game 7, the best team won tonight. Props to Edmonton for the fight back it’s a tough pill to swallow. One must think if Drai was himself what the result would be. But that doesn’t matter anymore. Props to guys like Barkov, Tkachuk, PoMo, Carter, Bennett and Reinhart blood sweat and tears given. Panthers’ fans what I’d recommend is buy the gear, buy the banner, shirts and hats. Enjoy this, relish the moment It wasn’t easy, but their names will be remembered by south Florida forever.

Something that wasn't talked about but was very significant was the extra day off between each game. This worked against Florida. Florida's game was wearing the opponent down. The extra day off between the last three games allowed Edmonton to be fresh. This is not an excuse. It's just a fact.

Amazing playoffs. It seems voters and fans forgot that if Bobrovsky wasn’t otherworldly and out battling Shesterkin, Vasy and the hottest goalie in playoffs in swayman, the panthers don’t even get close to seeing this cup final without Bob. But he has two bad games in the finals and he suddenly isn’t a conn smythe candidate. Only McDavid is allowed to have bad games and be a ghost in the biggest moments, which Bobrovsky showed up for and win the mvp. I’m sure Bob doesn’t care, he has his cup. Sure, but by that logic you could also blame him for McDavid going nuclear in the two games prior to that. That's really just cherry picking. The online reason this Edmonton franchise is relevant at all currently is because of McDavid. This was probably the best team he’s had around him but personally I don’t think they were better than a good number of teams out west and the fact they made to game 7 was surprising to me. Edmonton was built off there speed and firepower but that’s a terrible matchup for a squad that’s bruising and physical like Florida and we all saw that in the first three games and tonight. Sure the Oilers needed McDavid but there flaws for years is that they have needed him to do everything with Drasitil being a quality number two.

For the most part, Florida played a strong breakout game, and forechecked well in the Oil's zone. They deserved the win.
Also... glad to see OEL win a cup after being bought out by the Canucks a year ago. He played well. Always thought he was unfairly targeted by some Canucks fans because of the trade that brought him and Connor Garland over from the Yotes.

McDavid is the best player in the league and the Oilers wouldn't be anywhere without him. But when you get zero points in game 1, 6, and 7 of the finals, you can't take the MVP from the goalie that locked it all the way down to the championship. It was a pity award and I don't blame Connor for hating it at all. He knows the truth.

Foegele/Perry/Carrick/Ganger will probably leave bring up Lavoie who got 25 goals in AHL and sign Pickard to 2 mill.

As a result we missed seeing a miracle, on ice, unfold before our bare naked eyes.
We're missing the basement Oilers rising up from the shadows of hopelessness to reach the show. Then win. They lost.
The Oilers missed making heroic history. That hurts. It now hurts more feeling how we "can't" feel, and share, that victory... we're left with; everything else.

I didn't technically have a horse in the race (Atlanta lost both their NHL teams before I ever really had a chance to get behind them), but man was I scared for Panthers fans last night. As a fan of other Atlanta sports, I'm all too familiar with the whole catastrophic collapse thing (Basically all I knew the Braves for before 2021 as I wasn't around in their 90s haydays, I was physically at their 2012 Wildcard game, and don't even get me started on the Falcons), and especially after game 6 I was praying that Panthers fans wouldn't have to endure that same kind of trauma.
Thankfully for them, the Panthers remembered what they did to win the first 3 games last night and held on with every ounce of energy they had left. They got to experience what I felt when I finally got to see my Braves win in '21 as opposed to being saddled by the hockey equivalent of 28-3, and I couldn't be happier for the fans of the long-downtrodden franchise.
Now, if only Atlanta could get another shot with a competent owner...
