I'm pretty sure this song would not have enjoyed the fame it has now without PeggyLees version.Otis Blackwell a co writer also wrote 3 or for of Elvis's major hits.He later appeared on the Letterman show if you look it up it will become obvious how much of Elvis's vocal styling he got from Otis Blackwell as well as three or four major hits.I believe that the late Rob Wasserman played upright on at least one version of that cut as well as Take a Walk On the Wild Side.
