Rule 1 of shaking out a tree: Put a clean sheet (or 2) around base of tree to easily catch fruit. Learned that in Santa Fe when harvesting Piñon (pine nuts). Love your videos. I watch all and get premier notices. This was a comedy kitchen sketch.
Love Luke and Julie in the kitchen!!! Luke and Lee are very brave to face the hornets.I really liked seeing the gardens behind Luke and when they were up in the Cherry Picker. The drone view of the roof is interesting. Luke is a master drone flyer! Raymond is a awesome! Love from Vermont
Hello Julie and Luke ... coming to you from Virginia. Wow, my grandmother and aunt would make damson preserves. You are the only other people I have heard of making anything with this fruit. I am not a gin drinker but would like to try the damson gin. You brought back memories. Thank you for sharing. What a lovely estate!
You & Luke are hilarious together! It's so nice to see a couple have such a good rapport. I never heard of Damson, which I looked up - the flavored gin will be great Xmas presents. It seems it is never ending work on the house, but the work must be done to keep the house looking good. Thanks
Video was just as nice as i expected...was smiling the whole time..you and your husband are the best..even the cherry picker and drone parts was quite facinating.
Hahaha Julie. Bless your heart. You've been married long enough. You should know that husband's intentionally pretend to mess things up hoping their wife will quit asking them to help with anything lol. I just made my husband's honey do list longer and would hide his beer. Lol
I've never heard of Damsons either as an American but I looked them up and I may try to make jam or a cobbler with them! Love your outfit Julie! You and Luke are so funny together! Thank you for sharing and thank you to Claire, Stephen and to your staff! Great job Luke!!! I love your opening music and scenes!
Hi Julie & Luke, Fi here from good old Yorkshire! Once again a brilliant video of the two of you larking around! You brighten up my day seeing you two having fun, but I was a little worried about Luke with the meat hammer lol lol Can't wait for the results of the Damson Gin!
Well, your comedy-routine style is getting rave reviews! The fact that you two talk over each other and comment on each other is really endearing. I don't know how much or even if you pre-plan these episodes, but they feel unscripted, with Luke going off-piste at every junction, while Julie attempts to stay on plan. So when you are planning out your episodes, if you can keep this impromptu quality, it will be great! (PS - I've just subscribed.)
You both remind me a little bit of myself and my husband. Except we're more Lucy and Desi, and together for 35 years. Very different from each other, from different continents, but we love each other.
Julie, I just put up some elderberry syrup, which is an old fashioned cough and cold medicine that works quite well, but I'll be making some cordial, too. Thankfully, I'll not have a helper like Luke. Tell me, is Raymond single? I enjoy seeing him take care of Mapperton, and he's also quite handsome. : )
So pleased so see both Julie and Luke in this video, I love how they both interact with each other. The story about the table cracked me up laughing 😃. I'm planning on visiting Mapperton next year and can't wait.
Luke is just always trying to get out of work. It's this for real? That is only funny once... If that. I'd be like, "You are not fired. That is your briar patch."
Next time you make a damson/mirabelle/sloe gin/vodka, don't put the spirit in for at least a month. The sugar will then extract all the juice by osmosis. You'll get much more colour and flavour. Try adding (just) a couple of drops of almond essence. I only shake it a few times before I put the spirit in. And then only a couple of times afterwards. Keep back a few bottles, it will be even better next Christmas.
I can so relate to the water problems (coming into the house, that is); we have had water come 3 different times on each of 3 levels separately! All from builder or maintenance errors too. So not fun...
Lovely episode ! I never bother to freeze them, just prick the skins a few times with a big needle ! Damson gin ages well and is lovely at Christmas in a glass of prosecco ! 🇧🇬
So happy that you both started with blue outfits while on your "blueberry adventure"...white clothes would have not been good, lol. I was just happy you both survived and neither of you turned violet like "Violet Beauregard" did in that iconic "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" scene...anyone remember that from the original "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" movie?? 😨🤣 (Here it is: th-cam.com/video/grOb3ypJTfgr/w-d-xo.html The song from the movie was playing in my mind as I watched you two go back and forth with the blueberries...so funny!!)
I do hope the damson gin is a success for Christmas presents! Looking forward to updates on the leaking chimney. That seems like a large undertaking but also a necessary one.
The damson gin should be quite pretty. Ah, sure enough there is a Damson Gin Royale! Perfect for holiday toasts. Cheers, Julie. Luke, I too am not a fan of heights. I was ready to give you a medal for going up in the cherry picket at all. Nice painting technique. The drone is in no way for fun and satisfying curiosity about what it can do. No, business only.
You guys are so funny 🤣😂 I love the idea of homemade gifts, btw. Hey girl, I usually just go with the locals, if anything goes wrong it's on them 😉 I would like to mention, well, maybe someone already pointed this out, but putting a sheet under the tree when you give it a shake might make for easier harvesting next time. If there is a next time 😉 Awe, poor Luke was having so much fun ☺️ Getting out some frustration too, I bet 😅 It was fun watching you guys making the mundane more lively. ☺️👏
I definitely think you two should be wearing eye-protection goggles when making gin! Can you tell what the beautiful blue colourway is on the cabinetry either side of your gorgeous Aga ~ is it a numbered heritage colour? Absolutely love your vlogs x
Oh no. I think Luke is right for once lol. If they are too frozen you wont be able to break the skin without cracking them apart. Good call on the cutting board. I cringed when Julie put them on the table and whacked them! I laugh at Luke...he's the ultimate man-child in the loveliest way.
The lighting is not very flattering in some portions of this video, but we know that you're lovely people, so don't mind it too much. I love seeing how calm your husband is when you're shutting him down while he's obviously right. It reminds me of every time I've figured out that my own husband was in fact right...about a month after he let me win the disagreement. (I do wish he'd let me win fewer arguments.) It's very endearing. A lovely 🥰 video!
Julie...a vacuum cleaner will get the sugar out quicker and better than a toothbrush that can push the sugar granules in further. I think he was having a laugh with you. Antique kitchen tables are only as good as the beating they can keep taking.
I really like Luke’s commentary and his one liners (which I would consider close to dad jokes, which I love!) But I will say I get a lot of anxiety watching you guys interact 😂 Im not sure if it’s because Luke is European and maybe he does things more relaxed and by contrast I can see Julies American “go go go, can’t stop” attitude come out more (which being American I can relate to) It’s still cute never feel you have to rush your videos…I would sit here and watch you guys do a 4 hour video on really nothing lol you guys are just really entertaining
Luke has great hair, so thick & full & I assume his Blonde Locks are au natural? Julie, you are so beautiful & just have the perfect Personality for Luke ❤️ Perfect Couple ❤️
I did not know you could make damson gin. I make sloe gin every year, it's delicious. I find it quite surprising, given that I hate gin, to me it smells of cheap perfume. Luke is wrong, you have to freeze the fruit, so when you defrost it, it is all mushy, you then sieve it through a cheesecloth. By the way, I don't be to be rude, are you sure they are damson and not sloe? Damson is edile, sloe is extremely sharp.

With the number of times Julie’s fired Luke, he will be collecting unemployment for years 🤣🤣
I love Julie’s outfit. I also enjoy seeing Julie and Luke together. They are so funny.

Lol Luke is like this big kid! Lol
You guys are hilarious. Pure entertainment! Thank you for jump starting my week with humour! Love it.
It’s the comedy team of Mapperton! And I’m here for it!!😂😂😂😂😂😂

Nothing better than homemade gifts at Christmas! They’re full of love and creativity. Thanks for a fun video!
Mappenton is always interesting, mostly fascinating.
Video was just as nice as i expected...was smiling the whole time..you and your husband are the best..even the cherry picker and drone parts was quite facinating.
Is like watching Lucy and Ethel in the bon bon factory🤣🤣🤣
Go Luke Go! you are doing a great job with that mallet. Love to see you both working together. Reminds me of my hubby and I here in Oregon USA
This is going to be good.
Looking forward to this video😄
Lord Hinchingbrooke is very elegant and pleasant! Regards to Lord and Lady Hichingbrooke from Italy!
Hahaha Julie. Bless your heart. You've been married long enough. You should know that husband's intentionally pretend to mess things up hoping their wife will quit asking them to help with anything lol. I just made my husband's honey do list longer and would hide his beer. Lol
So honest, so natural, so joyful , and so refreshing to see ! Brightens my day! Thank you both for being you!!
Luke didn’t even get three strikes and he was out, lol! So funny. I smiled the whole time watching you two. Thank you for another great video! 🌸🌸
Oh I love that have them work together more often it makes it so much more interesting
Julie and Luke together in the video is so great. They are very funny together.
Luke's signature: give the camera a bit of the side-eye and say: "it's true." 👍Throw a wink in there, Luke and you're golden, LOL! 😉
I've never heard of Damsons either as an American but I looked them up and I may try to make jam or a cobbler with them! Love your outfit Julie! You and Luke are so funny together! Seriously, you two are too much! Wonderful. 🦋
😊 thank you
I’m watching this in 2200..Luke is adorable.

Luke has come to the Damson in distress!!

Thank you Lisa! We are so pleased you are enjoying the episodes.
His fired again, hahahahaha
When food are frozen it breaks the cell walls down . That’s the purpose of the freezing of the damsons , to release the juice .
🤣🤣🤣 Luke stay getting fired. Love you guys when you do videos together lol.
There’s netting you can spread underneath the tree before you shake it. Makes collecting them a breeze .
You both remind me a little bit of myself and my husband. Except we're more Lucy and Desi, and together for 35 years. Very different from each other, from different continents, but we love each other.
So entertaining to watch, Thank You... 🤩
Keep Luke behind the seems. That’s a very important job too!!😉
I love Julie and Luke and their repartee 😁...This made be laugh out loud -- and was also fascinating, as always💕!
Looks like fun..cant wait. Will the Countess of Sandwich be doing a tour of the gardens soon?
Yes! bring back Caroline and John!
Kitchen help can be so frustrating!
Use a cast iron skillet to squash those berries. You two are hilarious!
So pleased so see both Julie and Luke in this video, I love how they both interact with each other. The story about the table cracked me up laughing 😃. I'm planning on visiting Mapperton next year and can't wait.
We look forward to welcoming you to Mapperton!
Did you not think about bashing them in the bag ? I can fully recommend it and you will find it less messy .. but thanks for the bashing laughs 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you both for another great video. I'm sure the medium quality Gin will be better than good enough. Cheers.
Love you as a couple !

Thank heck I have 26 years sobriety too!! No Damson order sorry guys! You are the best.
Basically you're making a Damsen extract.
❤
This reminds me so much Fanny Craddock and Johnny .Hilarious!
The banter between Julie and Luke is pure Gold! Hahahaha🙃
So funny - bless you both 🤣 this one reminds me why I do enjoy the single life
I can so relate to the water problems (coming into the house, that is); we have had water come 3 different times on each of 3 levels separately! All from builder or maintenance errors too. So not fun...
This is my favourite new sitcom 🤣
Comedy gold , the two of you together are comedy value😅
OMG the both of you in kitchen are so like Hubby and I. Lmao!
If you put a sheets on the ground next time before you shake the tree it's easier to gather them up
Luke is like a two year old banging his hammer.
Lovely episode ! I never bother to freeze them, just prick the skins a few times with a big needle ! Damson gin ages well and is lovely at Christmas in a glass of prosecco ! 🇧🇬
The pair of you are hilarious 😂😂 it adds fun and laughter while watching your videos
nothing better than picking one off the floor and throwing it in! LOL..its ok, as long as no one knows...hahahahahaha love it

Love watching you two . Funny guys xxx. How many house cleaners do you employ? I don’t think you would have the time between you !
I made sloe gin, bramble vodka and crab apple brandy a couple of years ago. Delicious, but I was cross eyed until May :D
I just want to pinch his cheeks. He is so cute. That baby face.
Luke to Julie...."They don't want it anymore." OMG! I cannot stand it. I am laughing so hard!!
I do hope the damson gin is a success for Christmas presents! Looking forward to updates on the leaking chimney. That seems like a large undertaking but also a necessary one.
Did you notice he picked up one of the damson's up off the floor and put it in the bowl?
@@RachelTScott No, I did not notice. Hopefully, there will be a fresh batch made for gifts!
I cant wait to hear how the liquor turns out. Fun times 🙂

I'd love to try the Damson Gin
Have never heard of damsons here in the US. Maybe we know them by some other name? Funny kitchen session.
I suppose u could use blueberries ...or saskatoon berries in the gin

Thank you so much Julie! I’m not the only one who calls alcohol spirits!🤣. My friends think I’m fruity?
The Gin is fine. Did you use extra fine sugar, not regular sugar but castor sugar, extra fine? Julie's outfit is so cute!
How much would you charge to ship it to the US?
