    Here’s a Big Tip! Good vid for sure, but he should have showed it in his video.The Top Plate (Steel) in the clutch pack is actually smaller, and the “teeth” on the edge do not reach or go into the clutch basket. It goes on the backside of the basket cover that holds the springs. I had never seen this before, and I’ve done a lot of clutches. If you don’t line it up with the back of the spring holder cover, the cover will not seat properly. The clutch will stay engage. Make sure you put that plate in place, and that it stays there when seating the cover….

    Nice video man. I need the same done on my z400. It’s unfortunate that Kawasaki hasn’t done a recall on this. It’s a shame they made such a good bike for its class, but can’t be ridden to it’s full potential from the factory.

    Thank you very much for the info ! A have a question: kawasaki also changed the springs in 2020 model ? My doubt is, won't the slip problem be fixed just by changing the two (ROD and Bearing ball) modified parts ?

    • @MrCcjcool
      @MrCcjcool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same springs. They're are actually also the same ones from the ninja 300. The springs will help reduce slip, the pull rod and bearing actually allows more clutch wear because before you only got 60ish percent worn down before you had to replace. I suggest Barnnett Clutch Springs. If you're gonna replace the rod and bearing, Mind aswell put new springs in. You're already taking them out. Aldo, norton motorsport makes a whole kit for it. I'll add link.

    Lay the bike down on the left side and you can probably not have to drain the oil. I guess it depends if there's a breather on the left side that might leak oil if the bike is on its side.

    • @MrCcjcool
      @MrCcjcool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the same problem. And ended up being the inner clutch basket didn't seat properly. So I took the four disc closes to you and put it on the inner peice of the clutch basket before putting it back on to ensure it seats properly. Should sit flush with no gap.. Also make sure the pull rod goes in before the basket and that the basket bearing is in its spot.

    Do you ride your bike hard on the street? Do you rev to redline often etc? I've owned a 2019 Z400 since new, now have 4k miles, zero clutch slip issues, not once. Just curious how common this slip issue is when riding the bike on the street under normal riding conditions?

    • @MrCcjcool
      @MrCcjcool  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's year dependent I'm pretty sure. But most people experience the slip. Sadly they put the ninja 300 clutch in the 400 and it can't handle the extra power. Never hit redline yet. Luckily they help the problem partially on the 2020 + models

    Bro, my Z400 was showing the same problem. Beyond the 3rd gear, if I opened up all the throttle the clutch would slip. I thought it was the clutch cable that wasn't going back all the way. I cleaned and lubed it, adjusted the clutch cable as the manual recommends and the problem disappeared.
