Aka if you're certain taking the right path is North, but your compass is saying it's South... is the compass broken, or did you take a wrong turn? It'll very likely be the latter :P. The same with him saying everything was 'wrong' probably just meant he was disorientated because he was certain he was going one way but the position of the sun etc was saying another. Rather than listen to air traffic control who were trying to steer them back onto the correct path, or pause and get their bearings better (read the compass/ position of the sun/better look at landmarks around them), the leader forced them to continue on the trajectory he was certain was 'correct' and ultimately flew them further out to sea. Due to it being a training flight, they were only running on limited fuel, and would have run out thanks to going too far off course. They were basically all sadly killed due to one man's stubbornness and ego.

in school we once learned that in the triangle there are imbalances of chemicals (naturally in water) that change the density of the water in some areas so it can’t hold the ship anymore
Yeah I've heard there were methane vents on the floor of that area of the ocean that cause the change in density and sinking. Possibly also effects the air causing issues with planes and radios.
@@anapoda3081 methane (among other gasess') vents are common on the sea floor. but in the scale required to cause changes in the density of water? I don't really know cause I am not a scientist yet

Someone probably commented this already, but it is now known that Plato’s Atlantis was a fictional place written as a metaphorical representation of Plato’s belief that if his society continued its “immoral” behavior, their civilization would fall. It was meant to be a moral story, and not a historical account of a real place.
Seems like everything deemed “unsinkable” sinks. 1. Those dude’s small boat 2. RMS Titanic 3. HMS Hood 4. KMS Bismarck I’m sure there’s more, but you get the point.

I think the bois, tho Ryan in particular, forget that tall tales exist. We’ve been telling fairy tales to warn each other about the dangers of (insert bad thing here) since before the dawn of civilization.
Not true. He was describing it and even put it on a map. Atlantis was real, but it didn't exist in the ocean. It existed in Africa, which in those days was a lush and tropical with a sea. Its already been proven
@@Carbon_Based_Life_Form Where is the evidence about Plato describing it and putting it on a map? What do you mean that Africa was "lush and tropical"? Do you mean the Sahara? The Sahara hasn't been green for at least 5,000 years.
@@Carbon_Based_Life_Form I recommend watching the video on Atlantis by Overly Sarcastic Productions. It explains the information we have on Atlantis from Plato’s original writings to modern day searches and examples of Atlantis like land masses. It’s very interesting. I won’t argue against your statement that Atlantis did exist, although I do disagree. From as far as our understanding can maintain, Atlantis was a metaphor for the luxurious lifestyle of modern Athens and showed how Plato believed that if Athens didn’t change their ways they would fall. In his story he depicted Athens as strong and humble, a description more close to Sparta at the time. The story was attempting to shed light on Athen’s imperialistic society and combat its constant conquering.
I always remember my dad, who came to Australia by ship, say that you think the ship is huge, but when you're out on the ocean, it's tiny in comparison. That triangle is a big patch of water!
came to the comments to see if anyone else said this. as soon as ryan said many people pass through it very often i thought that maybe since more people go through that area the numbers of missing cases would be higher too
theory 1 : true north and magnetic north combine theory 2 : magnetic field phenomenon theory 3 : aTlANtIS GO BRRRRRR theory 4 : *they're lost in the deep abyss of the black hole* theory 5 : *_AREA 51_*
It is surprising how none of the missing boats and planes have been recovered because usually when things crash and/ or sink to the bottom of the 12,100 foot deep ocean they're very easy to find.
True, also Shane's comments make the series much more realistic: they both accept the fact that things might not be real, they're not trying to convince you of anything and don't fall into the "Ghost found on camera" type of cickbait. They just go to creepy locations and investigate as much as they can, and I'm here for it.
9:37 When you actually take the story of Atlantis written by plato in its original context its very clear it was a thought experiment that was supposed to show Athens what will happen if they wouldn't slow their roll. It was never hypothesized to be a real place with real people untill historians went *OWO WHATS THIS ANCIENT CIVILIZATION* and completely missed the point.
Exactly and he used his own historical stories about the minoans downfall as the framework. Ppl still searching for it seriously crack me up with their ignorance
listen, the ocean is insane. We know more about space than we do the ocean, so I don't think it'd be THAT crazy if we suddenly found out that a merpeople civilization lived in some dark part of the ocean. The ocean's fucked man, anything could be down there.
@@hopoffmydick9574I guess that’s technically possible, but it doesn’t change the fact that the city of Atlantis was always fictional. Plato created it so that he could make a point; no one was ever supposed to think it was real.
Actually there’s just a lot of ship and plane routes that go through that area. Yes, there are a lot of disappearances, but when compared to the number of boats and planes that travel through, it’s actually a perfectly normal amount.
I remember Mythbusters did an episode on this way back in the day, their conclusion was a collection of methane vents that are scattered across the ocean floor. Massive methane bubbles were shown to have the capability of not only shutting down engines and propellers when collected in plane turbines, but can also split ships in half from the massive pressure they generate rising up from the ocean floor. On top of this, tectonic faults where these vents occur have magnetic properties that shift North to South poles over small distances which affect compass direction. Science muthafuckaz, shaniac *_out_*
I did some more research on this; the methane vent theory is just a possibility, not established fact (as to the disappearances). They happen pretty rarely.
@@PoochieCollins you're completely right, it was more of a possibility rather than an outright claim. Still a much more plausible explanation than Atlantis if you ask me though

Ms.Eleanor Widya but that's what an entertainment company does. they hired creators to create for them it's kind of fucked up to think they get paid for ideas but take the best ones to use for themselves to make money only for themselves when they got the idea while being paid by a video making company

Annartistic they actually can't, buzzers owns this channel and the videos
in school we once learned that in the triangle there are imbalances of chemicals (naturally in water) that change the density of the water in some areas so it can’t hold the ship anymore
Yeah I've heard there were methane vents on the floor of that area of the ocean that cause the change in density and sinking. Possibly also effects the air causing issues with planes and radios.
He kinda sounds like BS for being honest, i mean, bubles of methane? Meh...

you'll be surrounded be many, many cruise lines (if they are running again)
My granddad has went over the Bermuda Triangle 3 times and he said nothing unusual happened apart from some turbulence.
Yeah it's a pretty normal stretch of ocean and islands, sorry to burst your bubble
I can see it now, you’re lying in bed with your family around you and you’re just like “lemme go to the triangle, there’s something I have to find out” and everyone’s thinking you’re going insane in your last days and it actually causes trauma for them to live with for the rest of their life
I've been through the Bermuda Triangle six times while in the USS Navy on the USS John F Kennedy CV-67. The Sargasso Sea was beautiful and the water so clear. We even had a fun in the sun day in the Sargasso Sea and there was no wind blowing. For three hours I had duty, but enjoyed the day afterwards. If you study all the ship, airplane losses in all the Earth's oceans and seas you will find out that the Bermuda Triangle is no different than the other seas. UFO's and USO's have been seen in all the oceans and some large lakes nothing new there. The ocean can be a beautiful lady or she can be a terrible lady of doom!

Someone probably commented this already, but it is now known that Plato’s Atlantis was a fictional place written as a metaphorical representation of Plato’s belief that if his society continued its “immoral” behavior, their civilization would fall. It was meant to be a moral story, and not a historical account of a real place.
I've been shouting that on every video that mentions Atlantis and so far no one's listening. It's so frustrating when people are willingly ignorant

Plato never once said atlantis exsisted. It was writing about hubris and a warning. ITS A STORY!

When you actually take the story of Atlantis written by plato in its original context its very clear it was a thought experiment that was supposed to show Athens what will happen if they wouldn't slow their roll. It was never hypothesized to be a real place with real people untill historians went *OWO WHATS THIS ANCIENT CIVILIZATION* and completely missed the point.
Also, why would they be more advanced than us? they said it was advanced for its time, that does not mean they have lasers weapons or flying vehicles
Well maybe they are living somewhere..given we don't know much about ocean...plato had actually heard from others..i saw in one documentary
@@hopoffmydick9574I guess that’s technically possible, but it doesn’t change the fact that the city of Atlantis was always fictional. Plato created it so that he could make a point; no one was ever supposed to think it was real.

Theory number 3 is now my favorite theory out of the entire series. Hands down. Nothing will ever compare
Science muthafuckaz, shaniac *_out_*
What was their confidence interval of that theory?
Uhhh why so confident
Mithbusters was created to discourage conspiracy theorists on the right track
I did some more research on this; the methane vent theory is just a possibility, not established fact (as to the disappearances). They happen pretty rarely.
