This would be funny if anything remotely close to this ever happened but we will never see this because ghosts aren't real and neither are demons
When I was younger my teacher decided to play a game called witch trials, she would go around the class and if she tapped on the shoulder you would be the witch, your job would be to make sure that you don’t get eliminated in stay undercover, and if you were a civilian your job would be to eliminate the witch at the end of the class, when nobody could figure out who the witch was we ask the teacher “who is the witch” and she responded “no one just like the actual witch trials”
we did this too with hunters and judges like mafia
That's head up 7 up

My favorite part of the Salem witch trials is how everyone goes along with it up until the governor's wife was interrogated. Then he quickly shut it all down. So those in power knew it was all B.S. They just killed ppl for fun.
I remember having a history teacher that made us go to a museum that explored the theme of scapegoats in history.
I initially hated the idea but quickly thought it was the most interesting thing I've seen.
Humans have a history of making scapegoats, from why there was a dry season, to the way they sacrificed people in different cultures, it seems to be part of our human nature to try blame someone for our misfortunes.
Like, several children were sacrificed for a field not granting as much wheat as it was supposed to, how the story of Jesus is the fiest time we have decided to actually openly mourn a scapegoat, and they discussed the witchhunt.
The witchhunt is an interesting one, because it seems to be associated with shifting blame for something in society.
The reason why I say this is because your comment almost makes it seem like the governor was just out to execute women for the heck of it, or that mysoginy is all the explanation this topic requires. Sexism punishes men and women, while it was an era of women being executed, it was also an era of men watching their loved ones burn, unable to grief their loss because it implied they were accomplices of their "crimes".
I think when we reflect of the witch hunt, we should not put all the weight on the notion that mysoginy is problematic, but check if we have been engaging in the witchhunt (in a modern transformed way) today. Have we maybr unloaded our frustration by searching for a scapegoat? We like to do that.
@@corneliahanimann2173I mean I'm just confused because OP didn't mention misogyny
@@bdkplaysx I am not sure if mysoginy then can be compared tl mysoginy today
Yep true the knew those poor innocent people were not really witches but still killed them for pleasure.
Prolly not just for some fun, they were probably getting some societal or political gain from it
Fun fact:
The youngest person to be accused of practicing witchcraft was a 4 year old girl named Dorothy Good. She was imprisoned for 8 months before being released.
Her mother, Sarah Good, was also accused and imprisoned but not released..Sarah Good had a baby in prison named Mercy,
But Mercy died shortly after birth (probably because of malnourishment and the harsh conditions in prison.)
and Sarah was hanged. She was only 38-39 years old when she was hanged.
That's so sad.
"she was only 38-39" despite the fact that the average life expectancy was less than 40.
@@Dismuth i've actually heard that life expectancy averages were dragged down because of all the kids that died young (but that's what my history teacher told us)
@@Dismuth average only because so many people died in infancy, bringing down the average. Taking into account people who reached adulthood, many people lived into their 60s.

Kerri Lamothe Dude, ikr.
Seems to me that if women quit buying stuff without pockets maybe the clothing manufacturers will get the hint. However, being male and not involved in the fashion industry, I could be wrong. Personally I don't buy shorts without pockets and if you think about it a certain way even my drawers have a pocket. Though from the male perspective, we don't have enough pockets because we always have to carry our girlfriends' wallets, phones, and possibly cigarettes. I have to wear cargo pants when I have a girlfriend. On a side note, someone once said that when a man stops wearing pockets he no longer cares about life.
@@revwroth3698 Sure. But when like 90% of stuff sold doesn't have pockets it's kind of difficult to refuse to buy some of that stuff. Even the few jeans that I have that do happen to have pockets can only really fit my mobile if I'm lucky. I guess I could just refuse to buy new pants and winnie the pooh-it from now on lmao.
Ps. I'm surprised that u always carry your gf's stuff because my experience has been the opposite. Since I often have to carry a purse or backpack (because no pockets) the guys around me tend to ask me to carry their stuff because they only have their pockets lol
That audio recording of “take it” was 100% just one of the cameramen shuffling around in the snow.

Considering it was actually women that did the accusations of witchcraft and some of the accused were men... Not really?

YamaSlushy lol their point still stands. yes men were also accused, but all the women that were accused were solely accused because they didn't conform to societal standards back then. & yea it was women who accused them, but the point still remains the same.

My English teacher was talking about this the other day and said that the trials came up because people were having issues with land and wanted to accuse others to steal their land. I'm a direct descendant of the guy who was pressed to death in Salem, so I always love to see people investigate this! What I appreciate most here is that they went to Danvers. Danvers is today what Salem Village was in the time of the witchcraft trials. The town that is Salem today is not actually the location of the trials, even though they push the most touristy attractions, which is fun if you are looking for cheesy goodness (I am a personal fan of the Salem Witch Museum with the animatronics) but not necessarily very accurate.
jeez, i'm so sorry. also that's really interesting, i never knew that. I just assumed that because it's called Salem that they just removed the word village at some point in time.
@@momo5734 It's pretty interesting - in the olden days, Salem was split into two sections: Salem Village and Salem Town. Salem Village was mostly farmlands and had a much poorer population, whereas Salem Town was full of wealthy people and merchants. Salem Village is where the witchcraft stuff went down and was later renamed Danvers; Salem Town was shortened to Salem.
Also don't be sorry; Giles was a horrible person and a complete jerk.
I grew up in Salem! My uncle runs a history tour through there and used to tell me which buildings are haunted because of the Trials (spoiler: if it's a hotel, it's haunted), so cool to see Shane and Ryan visit!

Sometimes I wonder, since it was mostly women and between such young ages such as 9-20 years old, wether the men of the community just accused them to cover up sexual assault ..
Like who are people gonna believe? A girl that’s accused to be in cahoots with the literal devil and has supposedly done unspeakable acts or the “good, hardworking and law-abiding” man from down the street?
You know? It’s like this “if you tell anyone I’ll accuse you of witchcraft” or something
A terrible, terrible game with no winners, really :/
I don't think there was a need for such and elaborate argument for that, SA in modern conceptions of it, was pretty normal all around
Well it would kinda make sense but not really because women were being assaulted then punished for enticing the men so it never mattered anyways if you came out you were punished same as today
I dont get how Ryan buys both demons AND psychics, but gets offended that Shane thinks he might believe in witches. Like, Ryan believes in both of the next nearest things.
Just once, I want to see Shane get spooked out of his socks. I wanna see the skeptic scream like a little baby
this comment was creepy as hell but i agree i would love to see shane get scared!
SydDrawsStuff I'm pretty sure he did get scared and really spooked at one of the haunted places like Bobby Mack or waverly hills or something. I'm pretty sure it was one of their ghost hunts which it seems they mainly do anymore. Did they do Elisa lam? I can't remember what Shane's theory was on that. And there's sooo much more mysteries to look into still like the lead glasses men, the rendlesham air base sightings, Area 51, the bell witch, michael Rockefeller disappearance, etc
Well.. he got scared at Queen Mary because a dove blew out of the blue and ryan screamed and shane screamed and the crew screamed lol

That's probably why they added him into the series, because the first few videos of Unsolved had somebody else and then Shane came with his dry humour and it was less creepy
Damn Slam No, but demons are.
Damn Slam then how do you explain the the exersism of Michel
@NEW MARKIPLIER It is called mental illness.
who's been pulling every evil string?
IT'S BEEN AGATHA ALL ALONG
Being in a house like that would just be unbelievable, literally, like you're standing in the place humans decided the fate of other humans, touching and standing where people did in the 1600s. It's just unbelievable and hard to wrap your head around, especially when the homes are repaired and taken care of. Also not a lot must have been happening in the 1690s, just so bored you decided "witchcraft"
*_I love the subtitles they put, I really do, but without the wheeze... It's just not the same anymore. :(_*

Reverend Hale: interesting. I’ll ask your wife about it when I speak to her. I also like reading books :D
Judge Hathorne: you are now a witch.
Hale and Giles: Now hang on-
I couldn't stop laughing when the scene cut to ryan and shane in period costumes - I didn't think Ryan was serious about that suggestion
Girl: *Shows any sign of intelligence*
Doctors, the Judge, the entire town, the demon in my fireplace: iTs A wIiTcH!
Grac Melendez hi romania, fancy seeing you here
You have Calcifer from Howl's Moving Castle in your fireplace?!? lol.
You do realize it was WOMEN accusing these ppl of being "witches" right? And it wasnt only women that were killed... but men too. Or do u only care when it fits your moronic narrative?
Grac Melendez *flash Mack to Monty python* if she weighs the same as a duck-

Hi there. I've lived in Salem my whole life. I figured I should let everybody know that what they call gallows Hill in this video is not where the actual hangings took place. The general consensus now including that of the mayor of Salem is that the hangings took place and what is now a small patch of wooded area behind the Walgreens parking lot on Boston Street in Salem. The park was named gallows Hill based on a guess however many years ago
Honestly that "take it" that the audio picked up just sounded like a sneeze
They need to have their own channel called BuzzFeedBlack

Sounds like the slave "Tituba" was pretty freakin' smart. She goes along with it and doesn't get set on fire...

Shane talking about the people in France that danced till they died was so funny to me. I’m glad Ryan paid attention to him due to the Professor having a whole lesson on it on Watcher
Ryan: “are ghosts real”
Shane: *shakes head in disbelief*
