Hi Laura, I love the idea of creating a page for your client on your site. But can you expand on how the client would tell you what pictures they like on the page? Is there a like option? I am asking because it seems like a pain point if the client has to do something extra to tell you which of the 12 pics they want you to edit….

You can select an option to auto numerate the pictures by the website. I think Laura just skipped this step by accident in this video. So there will be a title with a number under each picture.

Your story, work and videos are so inspiring. Thanks for doing what you do. I joined your community btw.
I'm a full-time graphic designer but have been doing photography since I was a kid as a hobby. When my youngest brother got married I decided to go all in and start getting work from it. I'm getting a lot better thanks to people like you. I'm hoping I can make this a full-time gig.
As a designer, I never gave photographers their due but now I get it and it's literally changed the way I view the world. The pandemic changed everything for me and photography became my new creative outlet.
Again, thank you so much Laura. :)

Thank you. I use Lightroom Classic and sometimes sync a Collection to the Adobe cloud to share a collection of images with a client. It keeps me from having to export images. I mostly use Pixieset Client Gallery for sharing proofs and for providing digital downloads of Final images.

Hi Michael! You’re very welcome! That’s another great way to do it. For some reason, I never use the Adobe Cloud. I love doing it this way but it’s so nice to hear different ways to do it as well so others can get even more ideas. Thanks for sharing it! Big love from London! 📸

Thank you Laura! I have been using Google Drive and making my clients download the photos through there it’s a nuisance!! I use squarespace so I’m going to use this method of password pages to show my clients. I’ve always wanted to use the password settings I just never found it useful until now. Thank You!

I've come up with my own way of doing this with my clients. I started numbering my images with a watermark that has a sequence. You can do it in Lightroom CC slideshow export options. This way the client can point to specific pictures.

This is SUCH an awesome video! Thank you for sharing!! I never thought about being able to use my SquareSpace like this but I am definitely going to now! My only question is how does the client make their selections? By explaining which images they want? Can you add a numbering system? Just thinking about the 200+ images for them to go through & how they will tell me which ones they want 👀🙈 Still much better than the drive link I was going to send them! 😅 Thanks again! You made a subscriber outta me!!

Hi! Thank you for the video! I see in the comments some of the questions I have on the topic...would you consider doing a follow up video?? Thanks Laura, that helped so much. I own a Squarespace website, too (and not being paid for mentioning that). So, my two questions: How give your client feedback which photos she select? So does she see the file name in the gallery and give you that file name of her favorite photos? Or does one have to make screenshots of the photo (which is very unpracticable in my opinion). And question 2: When you upload generally photos on your website, which size and format these photos have when you upload them (resolution, pixel color space etc)? I struggle so much about that because I guess when photos are too bit it can take ages for the client to see the website

I put numbers under every photo in the description option for each photo in the Squarespace gallery. At the top of the client gallery I made a Squarespace form for the client to input the numbers they want. I receive the form by email and then I edit the photos they want. The tricky thing I’m deciding on now is where do you deliver them? I could make a Squarespace private store where their photos that were included in their package that they selected are free. But it’s cumbersome to select each photo and then they have to add it to cart and check out like it’s a product. Or use a 3rd party delivery service like smug mug or shoot proof. Really these sites need it to be all in one

In “Collect”, if the board is shared via an “edit link”, the client can download also the low resolution images to send you.

I have a question, when you send your clients the images to select through the beautiful Squarespace gallery, how do you know which ones they selected? Does it automatically go in a folder? Does it show up or they have to tell you by email because that is one step I do not want to deal with. I don’t want them to say example, “the third image down” or “ image DSF_12345” how do you know which ones they selected?

I was wondering two things. First, is there a way in lightroom to label the photos with numbers or filenames for the client to choose which ones they want? (Just started learning lightroom😊)
And second, when you upload the photos for the client to choose are they edited or do you edit just the pictures that the client wants?

When exporting in Lightroom, both classic and CC, you have the option of custom naming the export. For both programs, you'll need to right click the image, hover over export, and then select export again in the sub-menu, rather than doing a quick export with one of the pre-built settings in the sub-menu (JPG Large, JPG Small, etc...).

I'm new in photography (year and a half into it) and I'm looking to trying out to branch and make some money out of my hobby. When you send the final edits to your clients do you use your website again, or wetransfer with option to download? Also, do you remove your watermark then as well?

    • @LauraBC
      @LauraBC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hola Gerardo!

Great video and great information. I love the idea of sharing the link (for the gallery) in Squarespace. My question is this: How will the client indicate exactly which pictures they want? Ie: Are they numbered? Will the client as for 1,4,5,7,? Thank you in advance. You have a new subcriber now.

I can't find this answer anywhere. Does anyone share unedited images to clients to choose which to edit???

Regarding clients reviewing and selecting photos before editing: my sony raw-files often look like shit before I've edited them, so I don't think they are representative of the end results. Especially with food photography, that is often heavily dependent on editing in order to look good. Can anyone relate to this? My method so far is selecting and editing all the photos that I like first, including some alternatives for them to choose between. Let's say I edit and complete 25 photos out of 100, and they only really need 10-15 of them. The downside to this is that I'll often end up editing more photos than needed. But if the option is to show them flat, greenish and somewhat underexposed raw-files, then I'd prefer my current method.

Hi, your contents are very much useful as a photographer myself. Sorry for my opinion, speak slowly. As all our pronunciations are different, so to understand better and to cop-up your ideas, it's better for your audience to understand what you wanna pass. Sorry if my opinion offended you, just my opinion.

I used Adobe for the first time. It’s very easy and if you are a paying sub its free.

@@superfluidity Exactly. PPI is only metadata and does not change the file or filesize.
