  • For today's video I'm looking at 4 of the leading luxe photo gallery brands and pitting them against each other to see who reigns supreme....or, ya know, who does pretty good with what I toss at them.
    I've got 6 categories that I'm going to be judging each system on, and I've split this video up into 2 parts. In this part we'll be looking at:
    The Free Zone (a look at the free tiers each brand offers) - 3:09
    The Best Bang for your Buck - 5:15
    Ease of Gallery Creation - 10:16
    Fastest Uploader - 15:05
    If you are unfamiliar with these brands or what a client photo gallery is, let me quickly explain! A client photo gallery is anything that allows a photographer to deliver digital/downloadable images to their clients. These systems give the photographer the ability to share and deliver images quickly and stylishly. The 4 brands we are looking at: Pixieset, Cloudspot, Pass, and Pic-Time are extremely popular amongst professionals for their sleek designs, easy uploaders, and print shop capabilities.
    Tune into part 2 for the remaining 2 categories + a little bonus snarky category that I couldn't help but include :P. Let me know in the comments what your favorite system is, and if I should look at other systems!
    (Quick Note - The opinions expressed in this video are all from my personal experience. You may have a completely different experience with these systems and that is perfectly fine! I chose to do this video series because I wanted to show the differences in these galleries that all feel extremely similar and can be overwhelming to look at when you are considering one for your business. This video is not designed to make a decision for you. Instead I hope that it can assist you when trying to weigh all of your client gallery options.)

    One thing to add, Pixieset has a Lightroom plugin that lets you upload/create your client galleries from inside lightroom. I haven't tried this on an actual shoot but it seems like this would speed creating and uploading the gallery because you can do it while you're editing.

    Good review! I've been using Pixieset for a couple of years now, mainly for sending clients real estate collections and to run my website; their website look is clean and decently robust. One little trick to get around the upload time is right click whatever it is you're needing to multitask and open it in a new tab. I typically hit upload and continue on creating or managing collections in another tab, etc., so I'm not stuck waiting. Cheers

    I think you missed the main category which is the ease for clients to access, shortlist and communicate with photographer. Client comes first - if they get ease of use then that is the main thing.

    • @BritneyClause
      @BritneyClause  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Thanks for watching and your comment! The thing I love most about this video is that these categories are totally my own, if you have a different set of categories you'd look for when shopping a new gallery - that's totally awesome! My video and categories aren't going to match everyone's ideas of what should be looked at, and that's why I encourage doing your own research and doing your own testing before committing! Thanks again for watching! 😄

      @@BritneyClause Thanks for the response. I was shopping for a gallery that my client would love and wanted to know what their experience would be like on the client side. At the end of the day they are called 'client gallery'. But following on from your video I signed up to trials of the shortlisted ones and found the experience is very similar - almost as if they are using the same technology.

    As a Pixieset user, Thank you for making this video as it is helpful to understand what options are available.
    I will sat that you can update the dashboard while uploading files. While you can not continue to upload and update on the same page, you can open a second tab. Actually, you can uplaod in multiple tabs at once and upadte the gallery settings in separate tab as well.
    This is not a HUGE negative, you can be highly effecient with Pixieset.

      Thank you so much for your comment! That is awesome to hear! Knowing that there is a work around for one of my big sore spots with PixieSet is great. And who knows! Maybe a future update to PixieSet will make it so that users don't have to open tabs or find workarounds 🤞. Thank you again for your comment and watching! Does Pic Time have a invoice system like pixieset?

    • @BritneyClause
      @BritneyClause  ปีที่แล้ว

      Pic-Time does not, but I'm not going to be surprised if more gallery systems move to an all inclusive type offering like PixieSet offers! A little off topic rambling incoming: I signed up recently for PixieSet's Studio Manager to test out their invoice and contracts since they are one of the more affordable places to actually do direct links for those client items. In my mind, the ability to direct link out puts PixieSet's Manager above systems like Honeybook even! I can't wait to play with it more!

    Do all of these compress your images the way cloudspot does?

    • @BritneyClause
      @BritneyClause  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! I just went through and tested some downloads from all 3 services (I'm combining Pass and Pic-Time since they use the same system) and it looks like the other galleries do not compress images. Now, I can only download social media sized images from CloudSpot since I'm using a free version, but I can still see the compression rather clearly on the images. I truthfully did not even realize the compression on CloudSpot images until you brought it to my attention, so thank you for mentioning this!

    • @glennmeader626
      @glennmeader626 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@BritneyClause Pixieset compresses images (jpegs for social media downloads, for example) and gives the client options for which size image to download. Of course printing is done from the full-resolution uncompressed image.

    I create online albums using Lightroom. It’s included in my subscription, and it’s way cheaper ($240-includes Lightroom and Photoshop) than the 4 you tested. I get 1TB of storage. Am I the only one that uses this?

    • @BritneyClause
      @BritneyClause  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can create online albums with Lightroom (not LrC) but it’s definitely nothing near a proper client facing gallery like these sites allow. Adobe portfolio is included for free and is pretty good for making a portfolio site but doesn’t have tools for clients or any way to sell stuff

    why is Pass made by Pictime? I don't understand the strategy :(

    • @BritneyClause
      @BritneyClause  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't understand it either! I've tried searching for an answer, but haven't been able to find anyone talking about it. I've seen other labs using similar uploaders, but that's nothing in comparison to the exact same system that Pass is using from Pic-Time. I have a few guesses as to why this might be the case, but I'm still looking further into those guesses 🤗.

      Thank you so much for your comment! I went and checked that timestamp in order to I confirm that I did in fact mean to say PassTime and I did give both Pass and Pic-Time a point because they both "won" that category.
      At the start of this video I mention that Pass and Pic-Time are very similar, and that when those similarities end up giving both of them a point I will refer to them as PassTime - a combination of the two system names. Thanks again for watching and commenting! 🤗
