this was insanely helpful. Just uploaded my first collection from a family shoot this past week. So glad I found this website and this dope video! Thanks so much xx
Great start to the video ... wish you would have provided instructions on how to set up the collection like weddings and then different sessions within the weddings. I do a number of cancer organization events through out the year (like Easter, Christmas, gala's etc.). Would like to know how to set up and organize these events 1) by year; 2) my event, 3) and subsets of events.???
This was helpful! I am starting out as a youth sports photographer and this video so helpful! Will definitely use your link when I am ready to go live with my website.
Thank you for demonstrating Pixieset! I've been looking for a smooth, professional platform to get photos to my clients AND having a way for them to order. This is PERFECT for me. Again, thank you!
What dimensions/resolution do you recommend when uploading the photos to Pixieset? I know for social media use the photos should be exported at 2,048 pixels and 72 for resolution, and then it is different for prints. But which one should we choose when uploading them here since clients will most likely do a combo of both?
Hey Ryan! I was looking for a Pixieset tutorial and I landed here. In a channel that I already follow, watch many videos and for some reason just now I discover that you are a Kelowna fellow, yay! Thank you for putting such nice content together. I work with food photography around here. Maybe we will bump into each other one of these days :)
Hi Ryan, thank you very much for the amazing tutorial video, very helpful and I shall certainly watch it back a few times. My question to you is, I am also interested in creating stock photo galleries to which can be purchased, no specific client but as I travel I would love to take beautiful scenery photos which I'd upload potentially to sell? Do you have any advice on this?
Thanks for demonstrating pixieset. I just noticed that you have a typo in the email template shown in the video (I don't know whether this has been corrected in your download link). In the email template shown in the video you start with "Its the moment...", whereas it should be "It's the moment..." (with apostrophe, short for IT IS = IT'S).
how do you re-edit your clients photos using the lightroom cc plug in? I have everything set up...just don't know how to pull the favorite list from pixie set to LR
Is Pixieset still a good option in 2023? I have used SmugMug for a while now but it has a very annoying issue with google indexing thus I'm looking to replace it. I have researched many web site builders (carbonmade, zenfolio, showit, etc) but I'm still not convinced. Thank you for the video and all the insight. Cheers.
Hmm that's actually a great question Stu! I have never considered that... Personally I'd probably make a favorite list for each of the albums, then download those favorite lists and design the album from there. There might be a better way though! If you find one let me know!
Thanks for this tutorial. I have a question. When I import my images into Pixieset they don't import in sequence, they get all jumbled up and I have to manually move them (pixieset's move tool is unbearable!) I noticed that your filename's were renamed with the couples names then numbers, how did you do this? I hope that made sense. Thanks so much!
I have used Pixieset for a few years but did not know about certain features. Thank you so much! Question...I am interested in creating a website, store, gallery all through Pixieset and I am stuck on transferring my domain name. Do you utilize their website option as well? The cname in particular.
Hi Christie! I actually use wordpress for my websites as it's much better from an SEO and design flexibility standpoint. Personally it's what I would recommend (or squarespace) over pixieset right now as their web creator is still in its early stages. Good luck and let me know how it goes if you switch!
A question I have is if I sell a package with 100 photos how do I deliver those images plus still have images inside of the gallery that they can purchase for an extra fee?
Thank you so much for sharing this video! I am very new on this business, but I've taken good photos already to share with my friends and start building up my portfolio. I really need some good advice and I would be totally pleased with your help. I've done portraits, events photography (not weddings yet), boudoir photography, and friends that are selling lingerie clothing, solo, and couples photographs My question is: do I have to always edit all my photos? Or just when I feel the need for a simple adjustment of lighting or balance? I am mentioning this because with Event photos or family photos, they are almost more than 100 photos that look amazing out of the camera, and for me to edit each one will demand a huge amount of time 😔 As I am a beginner, I am going to start charging only for an hour or 2 photo shootings in order to gain more experience and people to know my photos. But this option was without editing as it will be at a very affordable price and delivery of around 50-100 great photos. I really appreciate anyone with their best advice, thanks!
No one really orders prints anymore. I'd like to find something that charges them per photo download. I used to included all images but now want to charge only for what they want.
Thanks so much for this video! It was a big help. Also, how could I download the e-mail templates? I clicked the links in the links and neither took me to them. Thanks in advance!
how di you get so many photos in your sets? i have one set with 400 photos and its telling me i have used to much space saying its 8 gb used out of 3 available. there only jpegs so im not sure whats going on
Hi. Thanks so much for the video! I'm also Canadian and was curious how the pricing works for printing. (1) Do the prints ship from the USA or Canada (2) Do you give high res digital print resolution files to your clients in your wedding packages or they have to pay per photo for a high res file? (3) which photo print companies do the printing on behalf of Pixieset and do they ship automatically in Canada? Thanks !!!
Hey! 1) Prints ship from USA only as far as I can tell 2) I personally include the full res files with packages, but you CAN allow them to purchase them if that's more your thing... I think this makes more sense for engagements or family shoots etc. 3) To make sure you get updated info on suppliers you'll be best off just checking on the pixieset site yourself. Yes they will ship automatically to Canada to your customers, handle all payments and processing etc so you don't have to do ANYTHING. It's actually pretty great and has been flawless in my experience so far.
Just created an account, searched something on TH-cam and your the first video I watched. Thank you so much for the guide as it was so easy to follow! I don't normally comment on things so keep up the good work!
I recently had a problem with pixieset. They promised me 3000+ photos. I was only able to upload around 700 before going over storage space. I did not upload in raw (doesn't allow you to) all my images were converted to jpeg. So why am I running out of space ? If you have a better way to upload so I'm not running out of space. Please let me know
Thanks for the very helpful video (like all your stuff). For the life of me I cannot figure out how you added the banner with the discount code for free shipping of orders over $150. I love the idea and want to utilize it myself. Thanks...Sean
Hello Thanks for this intro. I have a question. On the "free" plan will clients be able to favourite images and I get to know which images they have choses for me to fully edit for them?
Some one PLEASE HELP! In one gallery, I want to sell a package but also give the option to sell single photos for a different price as a way to upsell single additional photos. I can not figure out how to do this with the price sheet!
Beginner user here- I have exported my photos from Lightroom to my computer all as Jpegs. I began the upload process on pixieset and only a few fully uploaded. The rest had an error message. I exported all of them the exact same. What did I do wrong?
Hey Greta! Impossible to say without knowing more. It might be that your internet timed out and you just need to reset the browser. If you find the solution please share here for others!
Hey Raymond! Inside pixieset all you do is hit "Add set" in the left column inside the gallery editor. Then you type in the name of the subfolder. After this you can migrate images into each folder by selecting them and hitting the > arrow icon and selecting which folder you want them moved into!
Thank you for the video! 🙏 One question: I am struggling to make the preview/highlights (whatever they're called) private. I choose the privacy option, but then it shows this:What is a public photo set? And. how do I make the entire collection private (I want people to only see the cover photo, and would need the password to access and other photos)? THANK YOU
Hey Sammy! I think all you need to do is select "password protected" when you create the gallery, but TBH I don't know if there is a way to lock the gallery like that other than just keeping it unpublished (private) - I'd recommend contacting pixieset directly as they're support will be able to help much more than me!
I m sorry, not quite clear on the concept. All the photos must be in jpg. format, correct? I shoot in RAW, so I need to convert them first before editing? Than somehow the client needs to access their file [how?], pick and choose, what they want, or I choose which pics to give them, and already create a gallery with the edited ones? confused. thx
Yes, you'd need to export the files as jpg! Normally YOU choose the good photos, then you edit them, then once they're finished you upload to Pixieset and send to the client for delivery. Watch some of my full wedding edit tutorials for an idea of how this works!
Thanks so much! I'm just starting out and this was very helpful! I do have one question. What if you do a mini session and take say 50 photos and your fee only includes 5, with option to purchase more. You want to show all of the photos so they can choose which 5 they would like. How to you disable them downloading the photos so you can then enable only the ones they choose later? Is this possible with PixieSet and if not, do you have any other suggestions?
when I try to connect my Lightroom to pixieset it wont allow me to do it even when I upload on LR and save the edit pic to reupload it that don't work either
Hi there, I shoot Mountain Bike competitions and would wanted to use Pixiset as a solution for the competitors to access, purchase and download their images. So my questions is, would Pixiset be suitable for this as there are 300+ competitors and I would like all of them to have access to the images and be able to buy them? Thank you for your help and for uploading this straight forward video. Ingo
I have some holiday Minis that i would like to upset! the price they already paid comes with 10 digital downloads ! how to i make it so the client can download their 10 favorites and then get charged per additional photo ?
I understand you described how to set prices to order prints and other physicals items but can you set a price for the client to pay before they can download a gallery?
Nice to see someone else utilizing Pixieset like I am! But I do have a few questions since I see you’ve been using it for years. After you do a shoot, do you have a set amount of pics you agree to send to the clients or however many you like? If you do allow them to choose, do you have a way of letting them pick which ones they want or do you pick the best ones in your eyes? I thought about using the favorites list to get them to pick which ones they really want. But I also don’t want to upload a whole bunch of raw files for them to choose from. Sorry I know it’s a lot lol I just haven’t found many people using Pixieset like me. Thanks again for the video!
Great questions! *After you do a shoot, do you have a set amount of pics you agree to send to the clients or however many you like?* - No. I simply cull, edit & send them all the good ones, and let them know in advance that's how we work. In general for an engagement this is 30-50 photos, and for a wedding this is 400-600 photos for a full day. *If you do allow them to choose, do you have a way of letting them pick which ones they want or do you pick the best ones in your eyes?* - For the album, I let them create a favorites list! I'm a simple guy, so I try and make the process as simple as possible for myself - Which means setting the expectations up front and then minimizing the amount of back and forth between myself and clients. Hope this helps!
Signature Edits just the answer I wanted to hear for that first question! Thanks man! And I’m utilizing that Pixieset Plug right now. It’s great. When you make an album, are you designing it from scratch or using a template somewhere? I feel like just can’t creatively make new album designs from scratch so frequently 😂.
My albums are from Album99 which have their own templates when designing so its pretty straightforward - BUT I've heard great things about AlbumStomp - I use their other product BlogStomp and its epic.
Piggybacking from the first question, is there a way to upload all the unedited photos, then let them pick the ones they want to be edited? I know you answered the question for your preference, but I mean when you're on Pixieset. Sorry if the wording was odd.
@@clarissamuniz6170 Yes I think this would work! You could sync all the photos using their Lightroom plugin, then have the client create their own favorite collection, and then simply edit those ones - The edits will then automatically sync back over onto pixieset once they're complete :) Let me know how it goes!
Can you add a “Shop Feature” using the Pixieset Website? For example a shopping cart for them to buy photo gift cards from my website? I want to make it easy for my clients to purchase directly from my website. Thank you
Hey buddy! Thank you for uploading this content! Would it be a good idea sharing small files with the client and then delivering all the high resolution photos in a pen drive? I feel sharing all high resolution photos may hit your 10GB - 100GB easily and we wouldn't have available storage for other clients
Good question. Personally I've been using it close to 3 years and haven't come close to running out of space. If I do, then I'll just delete my oldest shoots off of pixieset (I still keep a backup on a harddrive) If the average full res file is around 10mb, and my average wedding is 600 images, thats 6gb per wedding.. So you fit 17 weddings before you need to upgrade for more space, which would be about one wedding season. Personally I just pay a little more for more space, but that would be fine if you wanted to save some money and delete last years shoots.
Hi Stephanie! I believe the best way would be for your client to just screenshot the photos to add to their phone - Downloading wouldn't make much sense because the file sizes would be huge and on a tiny screen like a phone you wouldn't need the full size images. The client app also allows them to download to their phone!
what export settings do you use to get lower numbered mb's? from lightroom classic they uplaod at almost 20 mb and I will run out of storage way too soon.
I personally use wordpress & siteground for hosting! Although I will say that if I were starting out I'd rec. pixieset just for simplicity and then build on it later if necessary.
Hey! Thank you so much for this video, I was wondering if you stop paying after using it for a month, will your clients also lose the images? Or will the gallery still be there?
Good question. Yes, you'll lose out on your premium storage space as far as I'm aware... Otherwise why would anyone continue to pay... But you can check directly with Pixieset if you want!
Just wondering how you handle an upfront charge like $1200 to cover costs, etc? Do you set a limit within Pixieset so it handles all payments or charge them separately/outside of the app? Thanks!
Hey Cliff - Don't totally know what you mean... I charge separately for photography, and then the prints is additional. You can set minimum order sizes up inside pixieset, and they handle EVERYTHING (Payments, processing, notifications on shipment, delivery etc) it makes it super easy and hands off.
@@SignatureEdits Hey thanks and to explain what I mean normally photographers in my area charge x amount to do a wedding upfront with optional extras like physical wedding albums, etc but since Pixieset is based on selling images what if the client only buys one photo from your Pixieset store. Is that where, like you said, you set a minimum order? And therefore you don't need to charge them an upfront cost? Thanks again
Hello, +Signature Edits. Thanks for the info in Pixieset. I'm strongly considering purchasing the platform. My client already paid for their pics which will be edited in Lightroom. I just want to give her the ability to go to Pixieset & download her fav pics. Is this possible? Thank you.

@@SignatureEdits how can I make em less than 6-11MB?
I m sorry, not quite clear on the concept. All the photos must be in jpg. format, correct? I shoot in RAW, so I need to convert them first before editing? Than somehow the client needs to access their file [how?], pick and choose, what they want, or I choose which pics to give them, and already create a gallery with the edited ones? confused. thx
Yes, you'd need to export the files as jpg! Normally YOU choose the good photos, then you edit them, then once they're finished you upload to Pixieset and send to the client for delivery. Watch some of my full wedding edit tutorials for an idea of how this works!
What settings are currently best in 2023 to upload to Pixieset from LrC?
Full size, no compression :)
I see there's an annual plan, but is it billed monthly? Can you cancel at anytime or are you committing to a year-long agreement?
Thanks so much! I'm just starting out and this was very helpful! I do have one question. What if you do a mini session and take say 50 photos and your fee only includes 5, with option to purchase more. You want to show all of the photos so they can choose which 5 they would like. How to you disable them downloading the photos so you can then enable only the ones they choose later? Is this possible with PixieSet and if not, do you have any other suggestions?
Add a watermark to the photos and have your clients favorite the pictures they want or want to purchase.
@@315images4 Smart! Great idea! Thanks!
when I try to connect my Lightroom to pixieset it wont allow me to do it even when I upload on LR and save the edit pic to reupload it that don't work either
Perhaps your Lightroom version isnt a supported version by Pixieset? Id contact them and theyll be able to help!
Hi there,
I shoot Mountain Bike competitions and would wanted to use Pixiset as a solution for the competitors to access, purchase and download their images. So my questions is, would Pixiset be suitable for this as there are 300+ competitors and I would like all of them to have access to the images and be able to buy them?
Thank you for your help and for uploading this straight forward video. Ingo
Hey Morishas! Wow I envy you - Sounds like a killer job. Yes, pixieset would be PERFECT for that.
@@SignatureEdits Hi, Thank you for getting back to me. I'm working on it becoming a killer job :)
Wishing that the Splash Cover page was just that a splash page that once you hit open it advances not through scroll.
Yes that would be cool. Perhaps submit a feature request?
Are you able to add a print release or do you add it to the email template?
Hmm great question! I don't personally do print releases so I'm not sure. If you contact them directly though they're super helpful :)
I have some holiday Minis that i would like to upset! the price they already paid comes with 10 digital downloads ! how to i make it so the client can download their 10 favorites and then get charged per additional photo ?
Honestly I'm not sure Kristine! But if you reach out directly to pixieset they'll help you with that :)
Where can I find the templets
I understand you described how to set prices to order prints and other physicals items but can you set a price for the client to pay before they can download a gallery?
Hmm I'm not 100% sure Robert as my clients always pay for their downloads in advance. You can contact pixieset though!
You can set up digital downloads for pur have on your store!
Are you able to upload raw images to pixieset
If I do, then I'll just delete my oldest shoots off of pixieset (I still keep a backup on a harddrive)
If the average full res file is around 10mb, and my average wedding is 600 images, thats 6gb per wedding.. So you fit 17 weddings before you need to upgrade for more space, which would be about one wedding season. Personally I just pay a little more for more space, but that would be fine if you wanted to save some money and delete last years shoots.
I have an Android phone and can't seem to find the Pixieset app in the playstore. Anyone know why?
If I send someone the link & they open it on their phone ... can they download them or does it have to be on a laptop or desktop?
Thanks!
Hi Stephanie! I believe the best way would be for your client to just screenshot the photos to add to their phone - Downloading wouldn't make much sense because the file sizes would be huge and on a tiny screen like a phone you wouldn't need the full size images. The client app also allows them to download to their phone!
Great thanks!!
Thank you 🥺
what export settings do you use to get lower numbered mb's? from lightroom classic they uplaod at almost 20 mb and I will run out of storage way too soon.
Hey Carissa! I have 90% quality selected, full size exports. They normally wind up about 10mb each this way :)
Did you figure this out? What are your mbs now?
hey there, I see you are using this for proofing and delivery, what are you using to host your website?
I personally use wordpress & siteground for hosting! Although I will say that if I were starting out I'd rec. pixieset just for simplicity and then build on it later if necessary.
Is this useful only with the Lightroom edits or PHotoshop as well? Thx
Either or... Pixieset only supports jpg though, not raw, psd or large file uploads.
Thank you.
Curious as to what payment company you use.
With pixieset you hook it directly to Paypal!
