I've just bought a 2l petrol TSI, 3 weeks ago and I LOVE my car... 17 plate. Absolutely wonderful... Not had a car in over 10 years and the only car for me was a Scirocco. I adore this vehicle. I hate not driving her. This car makes me so happy.
I love the Scirocco! I was able to sit in one before it launched because the son of Ferdinand Piëch went to the same boarding school as me and both Ferdinand and his wife showed up with the newest cars on a regular basis, and one of these was the Scirocco. I really wish they made a new Scirocco, could imagine this car with design elements of the Arteon
Someone wrote off my scirocco. Used the money to get a golf but after 2 months I'm already regretting it. After having both I am seriously considering going back. What scirocco have people got? I had the 1.4 dsg 160 model on a 2010 plate. Went to a 1.4 manual 122 on a 14 plate and I actually really don't like it. Hesitant to use the word hate because I'm grateful to even have it but I think I'll be back in a scirocco by Christmas. Any reasons not to get the 2 litre? I didn't like 160 bhp going through that little 1.4 engine but it was quick
I bought a brand white 2011 VW Scirocco 2.0 TSI DSG with tons of optional extras a few hours ago!!! I unveiled it and drove it off the floor...awesomeness!!! That car is the bomb. B-Xenon lights, panoramic sunroof, heated seats, heated mirrors, touch screen dvd and navigation...I can't remember the others...I'm still on cloud nine. But, to top it all, a MILF that I parked next to started chatting me up...that was worth every cent. I HIGHLY recommend this car!!!
And again guys... not even lying... bought the facelift scirocco now. Just the best insurance quote for a 2l diesel (auto) for my age (21) so unfortunately after this year of owning aother scirocco this will probably be my last, since i’ll probably be looking at a 640d or a 430d bmw. Its been good though guys, and a very emotional journey but what i can say to anyone looking for a scirocco, find a good one from a dealer with all service history etc and you have yourself a really good motor with tons on enthusiasts (along with haters just the way it is) you wont regret it, i definitely dont. And look forward to my last possible 2 years with the new shape Rocco 🙏🏽💙

I just happened to see on today 2 May 2024 and it looks lovely! I instantly fell in love with the look of the car because Scirocco is nostalgic for me. My first car while in college in the US was a 1984 VW Scirocco in the year 2000 🙂
I love my Scirocco even if it's just the entry level 1.4 TSI, but what really impresses me about the Scirocco lineup is you can get the GTi engine based GT but with much pleasing insurance and tax. So golf GTi performance for a lot less, just obviously not a GTi Rocco.
All together i paid near 12 2011 model with 45k mileage i got the insurance cheaper through my familes business and it costed me 2.2k Not bad for an 18 year old on a 2.0
Man what the hell, i was looking for a nice polo but this car is almost in the same price range! Definitly getting this one in the next 3 months, but blacks looks a lot better for this car :)

I'm about to buy the 1.4 tsi myself, some say this engine likes to be a pain in the @ss as it likes to break... How many miles is your tuned scirocco on and hows it doing? the one i wanna buy has the DSG gearbox with 95k miles but a full service history of all the trans and engine oil's.
@@TextuRePro As of now the car is running without any problems it has 78k miles The owner before me had to change the timing chain at 55k miles and all I had to do was replace a battery for the car .
Bought my 2010 plate Scirocco 2.0 TSI in 2013 it had done 23000 miles . Within months I had to replace the intake manifold flap ( common fault ) . My car is currently on 50k miles and I’ve just had to replace the timing chain as the chain had become so slack it was rattling ! The mechanic who replaced the timing chain said the tsi engine is so cheaply built . I won’t buy a VW again .

I really like VAG but I struggle to find a single car that is truly good value AND young spirited but not snobby and smug. Both the Megane RS and the Clio RS are kinda disposable but man, they are FUN and extremely good value too. DS3 and C4 are more friendly, comfortable and human than the overly gray and serious VWs. Also PSA has the best seats in terms of comfort, side support and materials for the price. The Scirocco and the Fabia RS are probably the only exceptions. I wish there were more!
I own one for 3 yrs now and there is no rust anywhere. Mind you I live in Singapore and the humidity is over 90%. My previous Chevrolet gathered rust just within months of ownership.
Just a little observation, why is it with any car review I watch they all assume that everybody owns a bloody iPhone? Although saying that there was one thing that was left out of this review, when he talked about the boot space, he didn't mention anything about "room for your golf clubs", as is mentioned in a lot of reviews. Like we all play golf & have iPhones, a nation of fucking nonses
This car is beautiful, practical, fast and comfortable, it honestly mops the floor with the current GTI, which mops the floor with any other car in its category.
I rented a Scirocco from Sixt, and I am very happy with it. The only thing I do not like is the visibility, but then it is a sporty hatch. The A pillers are very thick and far out and you have to lean forward when emerging from junctions. I also found the 2.0 diesel a little bit noisy. Otherwise, it is a lovely lovely ride. :)
Anyone heard of the 7-speed DSG problem in Scirocco, Golf, Jetta and Tiguan? The mechantronics & gearboxes of these cars keep failing and have to replaced. Is there a long term solution to this? :(

@Dima Gurevich I would normally agree but autos are getting very good and-- in the most recent crop of cars-- most actually achieve better fuel efficiency! I've only ever owned manual transmission cars but a spin in the Subaru brz with automatic made me second guess myself. The flappy paddles actually enhance the sensation of driving a sports car and I like that you can just slide it into drive when stuck in stop-and-go. In the end I still opted for the shift-it-yourself FRS...
Coming from Impreza STi I'm looking for something a bit more classy and fuel effficent. I was considering a Lexus IS or GS but perhaps the Scirocco is a better choice? It seems great and I love the looks.

I just bought one about 2 months ago and fuel economy is really quite good. Eve while driving sportily i can easily do 800km per tank or 900km motorway miles.

Somehow, yes. There were a lot of engine failures with the 1.4 tsi (all of them had issues, but the 160 hp had most of them). Those problems appeared somewhere in the early years of the scirocco (I guess up to 2011-2013) and under 60k miles. I bought a 160 hp model 3 months ago, clocked at 100k miles and I must say that the car runs pretty smooth (already done 10k miles with it and had no issues so far).
Go for the 1.4 TSI, the 2.0 might be more powerful but it is also heavier on the front wheels. The 1.4 is light, economical and can get a great boost in bhp if you chip it. This is not a car to buy as a diesel, it's far from sporty.
Martijn Westerink I have found a Scirocco for my budget, but it only has 122 hp which is pretty low. It's a 2010 Scirocco 1.4 tsi. I'm considering a 2.0 tsi too but it's unfortunately over budget. Any tips? Thanks in advance :)
never heard of this issue on the TSI. if you're talking about an american spec car then too bad for you, you get shit compared to the European version. blame that on your regulations
Plenty Americans fit in VW Golfs (and the Jettas from which they were once derived); if this is just a squished and widened Golf, it wouldn't be an issue. That being said... I wish this looked more like the Scirocco of old or the Corrado.

The R model is a 4 wheel drive beast, 550km with a beast is impressive.

Money Talkzz are the 2.0tsi chain driven or cambelt?
I have the 160 version of the golf. I don’t recommend it, just had a full engine rebuild on 70k miles luckily it was under garage warranty.

Should I go for the 1.4 tsi, 2.0 tsi or 2.0 diesel?

Go for the 1.4 TSI, the 2.0 might be more powerful but it is also heavier on the front wheels. The 1.4 is light, economical and can get a great boost in bhp if you chip it.
This is not a car to buy as a diesel, it's far from sporty.

Martijn Westerink I have found a Scirocco for my budget, but it only has 122 hp which is pretty low. It's a 2010 Scirocco 1.4 tsi. I'm considering a 2.0 tsi too but it's unfortunately over budget. Any tips? Thanks in advance :)
Look for the 160hp 1.4's, they were the most popular and should be easy to find. Can't go wrong with a Scirocco though, good luck and have fun!

if you havent noticed the previous scirocco ended in the early 90's. It might be a while untill a new one comes along..
how bad is the chain tensioner issue on the 2 litre?
never heard of this issue on the TSI. if you're talking about an american spec car then too bad for you, you get shit compared to the European version. blame that on your regulations
How is the price the "best bit" ?
Its not ridiculously expensive but still priced too high for what you get.

This is a gd car... Engine was powerful and allows for a smooth ride while gliding thru the road
If you have the Note variant then you can use the glove box.
Plenty Americans fit in VW Golfs (and the Jettas from which they were once derived); if this is just a squished and widened Golf, it wouldn't be an issue.
That being said... I wish this looked more like the Scirocco of old or the Corrado.
