R I P to all those who have lost their lives at glencoe and well done to the emergency and search and rescue for bringing them home finally
The weather and topography in the highlands are quietly unforgivable. If we want to confront nature, we must always do our best to be prepared. Im sure the hikers that died thought they were prepared, or they would never gone. Ive been close but not that close, i can only hope those three helped to comfort each other and just fell asleep expecting to wake up.
Such a shame. My condolences to the families. I'm a novice at hillwalking, and my mate is well experienced, and he's taking me up north tomorrow. I'm staying on the lower parts. If you go up into the Highlands, please take care...
One of them was my friend Graham ,still in shock how this has happened .😢😢
Sorry to hear that 😢
😢
Youre shocked that a so called "mountain guide" took unsuspecting tourists along the Aonach Eagach in torrential rain and they all died? Im not shocked in the slightest. Basically manslaughter.
I scrambled en Garbanach ridge less than two weeks ago not as difficult as this but still pretty frightening. The 3 were roped together one fell causing them all to fall RIP to those that never made it home x
Very very sad, condolences to the families, iv Done this ridge twice and got off with it twice. Rip fellow hikers..
Where are their names and photos???
It was lead by a guy who ran expeditions 3 roped together one slipped took all 3 down. I would never do a ridge roped this is so sad
A tragic ending ....condolences to all ....was there years ago on a good day ...a roping together seems a likely explanation.
I generally wonder how this happened. I've hiked that area along with many Scottish munros. Usually I go solo and there have been many times where I've had climb down after sunset with a torch. Aside for hypothermia or starvation theres not much that can actually kill you. Unless you unfortunately fall and hit your head on a rock. That could happen to one guy but not 3. How they could of all possibly died from arguably some of the least dangerous mountain regions in the world IDK. I say this because Scotland doesnt have bears or wolves nor are most of its mountains that rocky or tall. There are no summits that require more than a day to reach. If you pack the proper gear (food water warm clothes and a power bank) you should be totally fine anywhere in Scotland tbh. Unless your rock climbing some of the hard ones like on the Isle of Skye or something .
You seem quite naive and generally quite stupid. Scotlands mountains can be as challenging as anywhere in the world.
The ridge can be dangerous and has several points where you could potentially fall to your death. Very likely they were roped together and this is why all 3 were killed.
@maybe-vl9ny I get what you are saying but plenty still do rope up on the Aanoch Eagach. Apparently it was a Male, Female, Experienced guide group, so it makes sense they could've been lacking a little confidence and the guide decided the rope was best option. The descent to the Clachaig is hazardous though and the scenario you have speculated is a distinct possibility for sure.
I actually have zero experience with ropes and so I don't understand why they would be used just for the sake of roping together and not to attach to something else. I'm sure it's a technique that's used though for whatever reason.
@@maybe-vl9ny Maybe the scenario you described on the downward section to the Clachaig is the most likely then.
