The Tempest is just so fast. You can't dive away from it, you can't extend and you can't zoom climb... You can only sustain climb and even then it has a decent climb rate down low. Coupled with the insane armament of 4 20mms and it's a monster at low altitude.
Landing in a crosswind is tough. Next time, use ailerons into wind and then opposite rudder to keep you pointed straight. Your right main will hit first but the rest follows quickly . Aileron keeps you from drifting left or right, rudder stops you turning when using the aileron.

All those 109s carrying gunpods =P. That is something you might get away with against bombers or inferiour / slower aircraft. But for a 109 (Especially a G or F) going up against the Allied fighters (Spit,Tempest.P-51,P-38 and to a lesser degree P-47) you need every bit of Agility and performance you can get to where the gunpods really reduce your chances... It especially bothers me seeing G6,G14s and K-4s with Gunpods since if you want extra firepower just go with the 30mm and if you cant kill your target with a short burst from the 30mm then you need the armament is not the issue.
@@Jbroker404 my tactic is generally to get extremely close before i fire (around 50-75m ) and at that that range velocity is not an issue. Downside with this tactic ofc is less time to fire / adjust so if i miss the initial burst i will generally have to break off and re-attack. and when deflection shooting etc where the velocity is a problem you always have the 13mm machineguns untill you are able to get a proper 30mm shot.
Oh, the JF-E skin. Perfect. I just picked up Kuban (plus Stalingtad and Moscow that I had) . Once I get halfway competent then I can justify buying the Big Boys of Bodenplatte. And then "Le Grand Charles" will be mine! Muahahahaha!

And Tempest is about as fast as the P51D with 150 octane at low alt and high alt, unlike the Tempest, the P51 doesn't need other engines to compete higher up or down low. But objectively spoken, both planes are close.
I used to wonder why all of the planes always had their sights on a separate little piece of glass instead of just using the windshield... now I know why no other plane does that.
I'm cruising along in continuous power and good oil temps and then my engine blows. Is this a random mechanical failure or am I doing something wrong? This is with the upgraded Sabre with 11lb boost. I read somewhere that it was unreliable. Hasn't blown for me when I am actually at full power but it has done it several times now out of nowhere when cruising at 3150rpm and 4.5lb boost. Could it be something to do with the supercharger gear like if I switch it to stage 2 too early or forget to switch it back to stage 1 while down low?
I dont know. You can blow the sabre engine when suddenly throttling up while the engine runs at max RPM. other than that I dont know. I doubt it has something to do with the sc.
I think the Tempest is the best allied fighter of the 3 recently released. I like the way it manoeuvers compared to the mustang. It reminds me a bit of a spitfire, but it feels a good bit faster (don't quote me on that, I'm not sure about top speeds).
Some of the things (faults) that they need to urgently fix in this game: (1) The terrible aircraft render distance / visibility range bug which spoils the game. Compared to real life (I live near a light airport) it's unauthentic. I can easily spot a Cessna 3 Km. away without binoculars but an enemy fighter "cloaks" when over 1 Km. away. One of the biggest issues with this game for everybody. (2) Wrong engine sound for the Tempest V. Sounds like a Cessna taxiing if one is next to a Tempest with the canopy open. The flyby shots spoilt by God knows what they used as a audio place holder (Sounds like the engine is only firing on 12 cylinders instead of 24!!). No excuse as there is an RAF wartime recognition training film on the Tempest V on U-Tube which they could have sampled. The 24 cylinder 2,400 HP (120 Octane) / 2,850 HP (11 Pounds boost 150 Octane) Napier Sabre II sounds awesome. IL-2 1946 has it pretty close. (3) The 68 Pound "Tulip" HEAT anti-shipping / anti-tank rockets aren't available. They are for the Tempest in IL-2 1946 and they complete the plane.

@@Jbroker404 The Tempest wouldn't have seen a G-2 in War Thunder, that's true. I was meaning more in general, as there were a number of other non-historical matchups thanks to the battle rating system (Bf 109 E-3 vs La5FN or P-51D vs Bf 109 F-4 for example).

Coupled with the capability to dogfight almost any of the bodenplatte axis fighters at lower speed if needed
Not any 20mm too, hispanos! They are simply the best guns. Fast firing hard hitting and most importantly, very good balistics

My issue with the K4's 30mm is that it can be tough to hit things with the low velocity round. I wish you could take the K4 with 20mm nose gun.

@@Jbroker404 I just shoot the 13mm at high deflection. Those hurt as well and you get higher accuracy when you dont try to pull lead for teh 30mm.
