You are an angel for posting this video! I have gone through 2 Keurig Supreme Plus Smart coffee makes as both died during descaling. There has got to be a problem with either the software or hardware when it comes to this process, and I'm after Keurig to give me an answer. I'm almost afraid to descale at this point. Thank you for all the tips and suggestions!

Omg! Thank you so much for this video!! I descaled it according to the bottles directions and the descale notification never went away. So I looked on the manual and it said nothing. So glad I was able to find your video! I did have the option to descake when I held those 2 arrow buttons down and it took 4 brews and a message came on and said finished, so that was good! Hopefully it'll work like this every time! Decale notification is gone, yay!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Helpful tip, if it says add water, instead of powering off and restarting the process just add a little bit of water until the add water goes away. Most likely didn’t top off the descale bottle all the way.

Just bought the 3 month cleaning kit to get rid of the descale needed message on our K Supreme Plus Smart. Everything went great until the "add more water" message popped up before starting the 3rd mug of hot water/solution. I added more water, the message went away, and I hit continue.. Only to have it dispense a table spoon or 2 of water & then it started spewing out steam and shut itself down. It doesn't power on at all anymore.. Called Keurig right away and a replacement is on its way.

Thank you for the video. It is very informational. Hoping to get my descaling solution delivered soon. Mine has already notified me. I always do a 4-ounce hot water rinse after a flavored pod. It must have counted those as part of the 250 brews. Hmmm. I only use bottled spring water.

@@JustADad I did a descale mode per your instructional video using the liquid bottle Keurig solution. It took 7 rinses in the final brew but I did remove the water reservoir lid to help remove snd weight from the spring because I was getting a bit worried that the machine was going to make me do a lot more rinses. It completed the cycle and the coffee does taste better. I will stop brewing a 4 ounce hot water brew after every cup because we had only brewed approximately 130 k pods when the machine said we needed to descale. We only use bottled spring water. I did purchase the Keurig rinse pods, I’ll use 1-2 a week. Thank you for making these wonderful instructional videos.

Terrific video and just what I was looking for. My Smart Coffee Maker's descale icon started flashing at me this morning. Following the steps in your video, I used distilled white vinegar, and everything proceeded as expected. However, it took TEN fresh water rinses before the descale process was completed. If the K button had continued to flash after the tenth fresh water rinse, I would have either powered off the coffee maker or looked for more TH-cam advice. 🙂 Fortunately, that was not necessary! Thanks, again. Lou from Georgia.

I think they keep messing with the descaling when they do the updates. The very first descale I did when the brewer first came out went pretty much as the directions on the bottle. On the second time and after it started requiring 4 to 5 reservoirs of water to rinse before it said the descale was complete, it was very time consuming.
But the descale I did today resembled the one you just did, in the way it ended. The first go around after very little rinsing the screen went blank then said to insert pod, but the message to descale didn't go away. So I let it start over with plain water but after the second cup the screen blanked out again without finishing the full 12 ounces first, there was only like 3 or 4. I unplugged it for a few minutes but the descale notice was still there when I plugged it back in. On the next try it rebooted, blanked out, or whatever it was doing after only 1 cup, though it was at least a full 12 onces.
So I unplugged it again and let it set for about an hour with it open and a fan on it to cool it off and dry things out completely. After I plugged it back in that time and tried the descale again it worked without a hitch. Except instead of saying that the descale was complete like it always had before it just went straight to insert pod instead of descale mode, hot water. The screen did not go blank for a few seconds like it was doing earlier. Those instances seemed like it actually was rebooting itself before the descale cycle could complete. It reminds me of how computers sometimes get bad updates and has glitches until it updates again with the fix.
I hope it receives the fix update before it needs descaled again.

Sucks that you gotta use the whole bottle. It's not that cheap.... Kinda was hoping it be good for a few haha.
But I already ordered one & I am ready for when it asks. Everything you said I made note of... Hopefully the descaling is more reliable since I'm sure these machines had multiple updates since you did yours.
I was laughing at how many times extra it made you do it. But to be fair... If it told me only 2 or 3 rinses.... I'd likely would do more on my own! (To be safe)
Idk if it has a sensor to judge... Or if the machines just get confused.

I had to return two supreme plus which i got a refund and bought the SMART hoping for a redesign. They die during descale like you mention but i read that they overheat and there is a thermal switch you can reset by opening it up, I wonder if that's what happened to you?
Eitherway instead of the vinegar I'll just by some solution in case that's the reason why

    • @JustADad
      @JustADad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yeah a lot of them die during descale. Keurig I think knows about this and will replace them for some people. The thermal switch is not resettable on the K supreme I opened up recently. once it opens you have to replace it to fix it. I searched on line and I could not find a new one.

Make long story short, never got the machine to do it. Keurig told me to do total reset...did that...hooked back up to wi-fi...whole 9 yards..still not descaling. Machine gets down to the place where 16oz of water is left in reservoir, says there is "error, please add water". I do, with same results! Keurig told me 2 days ok, fill all way to fill line and use until it gets down there. Well this morning, 2nd cup of coffee, and here we go. 16oz water left, and machine says error, please add water!! Can anyone tell me wth is going on with this machine? 2. I've told 5 different people my new address, it keeps sending pods to OLD ADDRESS.
