I see these are older videos.
I hope he is well. I miss his videos. Love his approach. Down to earth and straight forward.

Beautiful restorations as always. Just love the symphony quality sound of a properly tuned plane making shavings. So much more enjoyable the the noise of an electric planer, jointer, or thickness/planer. Thanks for sharing.

I am glad that you did this Video, but i have to point out that your description is Not spot on (for sure)-i’v collected/used daily/and sold and traded Stanley for near 40 years,..also* No.60’s are a passion of mine.-the first part of your description states that the “only difference” (between a #60 and 60 1/2) is the difference being the platting on the Cap.-there happens to be a lot more to it.,..No. 60’s were Never stamped with the Model number on the side (like it’s cousin the “60 1/2”),..the Plateing ALSO was on the adjustment wheel (not found to the same degree and hit and miss on 60 1/2’s. The type 2 no. 60 had the patd. Date cast around the thumb lever area. John Wells did an excellent type study on these.

I know he looks funny, but he knows planes, and he does good work. How strange are we to listen to a guy in a wooden wig? If you enjoy messing with old planes, subscribe!

First, Let me just say I love your videos! Thank you for sharing your methods of plane restoration with us. I do have a few questions though. I am restoring two block planes right now a 9 1/2 and a 9 1/4, and both have some jappaning loss on the lever caps. I want to completely refinish the 9 1/4 and dont have a sand blaster. Could I use paint stripper and then a wire wheel, followed by a wire brush and steel wool to prep it? Would that work for the diamond texture on the front and the hard to reach hollow on the back? Also the 9 1/2 has blue jappaning, what would you suggest as a color match for touchup? Your advice is much appreciated! Thanks again for your videos!

In one of your other videos I had made a comment about how the wigs “diminish” your credibility, that you are a craftsman and your talent doesn’t need a gimick. It occurred to me though that in this day and age a persons sexuality is more often overtly expressed. Being “old school” I find myself a little slow to see what is in front of me. If I have offended your sexuality my apologies; if you are happier with long curly hair then that is your prerogative and I support you “life choices”. Nice video as always, and again my humble apologies..... just be you!
