    I just got a Halot One. I watched many videos on it and noticed that all of them had the same complaints. I was worried that the one I got would have the same issues and frustrations. I am so glad that Creality listened and took into consideration all of the ideas and complaints that all of you put in. All of the issues that you and other vloggers brought up seem to be fixed. There are probably still quirks, but overall I am glad to see progress.

    Thank you! I just purchased a Halot-One and it is my first experience with 3d printing. I am a total novice. I did level the build plate per instructions, (I saw on another TH-cam video) and used their software, (which is the Alpha level) and like you, I saw that the supports pulled away from the raft, but being new, I did not know that that was an issue until I saw this video. So, thank you. This is most likely the problem I have been having with the dozen or so prints I've tried.
    I will try to get the updated software from Creality but in the meantime, I will use Lychee or Chitubox to slice my models.
    Again, thank you.

    This is probably a response to Chitu encrypting their mainboards to only allow files sliced in Chitubox. There is a lot of discussion about this move and how Creality was very against it. This means Creality had to design their own mainboard and software to support it in a very short time span. This is only a theory but it tracks.
    This also explains why they are in talks with Lychee to support the printer but no mention of Chitubox.

      Chit are using very suspicious phrases to act like they are not being anti competitive. But it is looking that way. The inconvenience of having to model and support in our preferred software and import to the machines slicer before printing seems to be the way we are going to be doing it until companies get the message that locking software to machine boards is not the3d printing community ethos.

    Your bitching paid off. I bought one of these 3 days ago and I was able to immediately install the Mac software on my M1 MacBook Pro and the software was hosted on their website. (I didn’t even think to look on the thumb drive lol, glad I didn’t) Also, sending the file over WiFi from your computer when using HalotBox works without having to manually type in the ip address as long as you connect the printer to WiFi first. I haven’t tried with Lychee yet because I’m very new to printing and literally only learned about that today but the Halot One is on the compatibility list according to Lychee.
    The Halot Box software is still basic but the bug where adding supports raises the boat off of the print bed is fixed. Haven’t checked the other issues yet but the first thing I did was do a firmware update

    Wow thanks for this video! so this printer was (for a very brief time) $100 on amazon mid to late July and I've always wanted to get into the hobby so I pulled the trigger without knowing basically anything about 3d printing. it arrived a day later but resin wasn't coming until the next day so I tried to find the slicing program (didn't check the flash drive) -- took me an hour of googling to do but I got it eventually. The program is super janky but everything somehow managed to print almost perfectly except the user error ones but almost impossible to edit generated supports if they're in a tight space because I don't know how to put them in manually yet. I downloaded chitubox but the sliced file is the wrong format I guess. There is little information on this printer even from creality, maybe because its so new? I'm having most of the problems in the video except the supports lifting so thanks for shedding some light on it. overall I'm having a great time with it and I've had it running since I got it lol.

    So I think it is great that some resin printers are thinking of doing something I felt was necessary for ages and that is separating the slicing from the exposure settings. I don't want to reslice my print every time I change my resin. not to mention it makes it easier to dial in settings as far as i am concerned

    • @ModBotArmy
      @ModBotArmy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @MaheerKibria
      @MaheerKibria 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ModBotArmy Yeah maybe because i an newer to hobby resin printing or the fact that I also use my resin printer to make practical parts using engineering resins as well as regular resins for fun pieces, I tend to have half a dozen resins and it isn't unusual for me to realize I chose the wrong resin profile and then have to reslice it to put in the right exposure settings. Not to mention that when prototyping i will use a cheaper resin so then when I finally have the part right it kind of sucks that i have to go back to my computer to slice it for the engineering resin. It would save time to just change the resin profile on the fly. It's something that i think would be good in all printers. Kind of like how i think RERF that anycubic does should be in all Resin 3D printers to find out the correct exposure settings for resins and how I think all resin printers should have a tank clean function like the elegoo printers where it exposes the entire print area to make removing debris from failed prints easier.

  • @binarybrian

    Thanks for the review. Still looking for that sweet spot to get into resin printing. It's unfortunate that Creality seems to be making things unnecessarily difficult for themselves for what appears to me to be an effort to maximize profits. They want to sell you cloud printing hardware and services so they make the wifi connection proprietary. They don't want to pay a license to the established slicers so they have a half baked proprietary format. I have a feeling they're never really going to completely, 100% sort out the software issues and they've minimized their profit from me to 0 with their current strategy.

    • @IdeaBoxful
      @IdeaBoxful 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the price that they are charging you are only paying for the hardware. When manufacturers close source their code and put licencing, you the consumer has to pay for it. Very informative video & echoes my viewpoint. New to resin printing & when I purchased this I thought it'd be able to do the slicing on the printer side if you just input the .stl file via a usb thumb drive. I feel that would be a step forward for this technology, as I'm sure the onboard processor would be capable of doing the necessary workload, even if it took a few minutes. Do you think this would be possible for them to do via an update (if memory/storage permits)? It would definitely put them ahead of the game if currently achievable.

    • @IdeaBoxful
      @IdeaBoxful 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is the game plan, but onboard slicing will be a bit too much for the Cortex M0 Chip. So it will be mostly download from cloud of files and network based printing. Besides on a faster processor, the print quality can be maintained with improvement in speed because of faster render times.

    You have all the reason, this is a great machine, but the software is soo bad, and the adjustaments, i will return it to the company waiting a new version or a new relase, because is a headheach to configure the parameteres.

      Thank you! Hopefully the software is more developed by the time you receive yours. It sounds like they are expecting to release a new update in the next week or so.

    Sad outcome. I bought a Creality LD-002R over a year ago and it worked out of the box and prints beautifully. It does however use Chitubox as it's slicer and Chitu firmware. They should have stuck with that?

    you should do more than 1 video a week, have u thought about building a printer like the ratrig or voron and doing a video on it

  • @Jynxx_13

    Why would such an established company release a product half baked as this?? This is gonna kill Creality's small piece of the resin market.

    • @ModBotArmy
      @ModBotArmy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is a great question. I dont see why it would be a race when there are so many printers out there already. I get wanting to take a product to market but releasing and incomplete product is much worse than delaying a bit.

    Lets not call the creamy resin "flesh tone". What shade is even Flesh tone?

      The web says “ a yellowish pink or pinkish cream color”

      Ahh valid point. Yup that is definitely my mistake. I think most of my life that sort of cream tone has been called flesh tone which does not make it right. It is something I need to make a mental note of and break. I apologize and will do better.
