I was then preparing myself for the Matric Exam when this event happened. A that time I was angry together with my other family members. We were at first filled with false news that the Pakistani forces were doing well but the Next day we got the news that surrender had taken place. Later many facts were exposed that made me ashamed of the whole situation. The Pakistan Army played a role that made the local population hate them so there was no local support. The locals were looking forward to see them go packing home. The Pak Army over there was demoralized therefore it was pointless to fight as they were fighting a loosing battle. I feel that it was a good thing that the surrender took place. Lives were saved. We still need to learn from this event. We Pakistanis need to apologize to the Bengalis for all the wrongs we did to them. Consequently let us now work together to work for peace.

(en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Chengiz_Khan) they were preemptive airstrikes carried out by the Pakistani Air Force (PAF) on the forward airbases and radar installations of the Indian Air Force (IAF) on the evening of 3 December 1971, and marked the formal initiation of hostilities of the Indo-Pakistani vvar of 1971. (And the Bangladesh Liberation vvar starred 9 months earlier on 27th March, 1971. It was only after this PAF operarion, that India entered Bangladesh) This operation by Pakistan air force targeted 11 of Northern India's airfields and also included artillery strikes on Indian positions in Kashmir. The targets were the Indian Airbases of Amritsar, Ambala, Agra, Awantipur, Bikaner, Halwara, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Pathankot, Bhuj, Srinagar and Uttarlai and air defence radars at Amritsar and Faridkot. So why did Pakistan carry out this operation? *Reason* : By October 1971, when there was no indian army presence in Bangladesh yet, our Bengali Mukti Bahini had started launching massive raids deep into Pak army bases of East Pakistan . The Mukti Bahini also launched an offensive on Jessore, Southern Bangladesh at this time.It was clear to Islamabad by this time that East Pakistan was indefensible in the long run, as the Bengalis were too valiant and strong. So basically, the var in Bangladesh in 1971 was a Pakistan civil vvar. Pakistan did the job of involving India in this problem by atakking India. You pakis yourselves invited the Indian Armed Forces in East Pakistan / Bangladesh, you Pakistanis deliberately called the Indian Army to Bangladesh with these airstrikez. But why? You ask? Pakistan has involved India in this war to implement the Red Cross agreement . Pakistan fought the vvar with the Bengalis of Bangladesh as a civil vvar. So at the end, there would be no "Prisoner of War" agreement with the Red Cross (as it only applied to international vvars), and the Bengali Muktibahini (Liberation Army) would not spare a single Pak soldier aliv€, had in case Pakistan Army solely surendered to bengalis only. But when India came to the war, 93,000 Pakistani soldiers who surrendered to Bengalis on 16 December , 1971 (one of the largest surrenders in history, as you can see in the video ) they were able to return to Pakistan alive. Without "India ", even The paramilitary Tiger force of Bengali Kader Siddiqui ( en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kader_Bahini) would cut those 93k i̸n̸t̸o̸ p̸i̸e̸c̸e̸s̸.̸ . Not Even a single Paki could return to Pakistan safely. Ships laden with bones would have been sent to Karachi port instead. I was then preparing myself for the Matric Exam when this event happened. A that time I was angry together with my other family members. We were at first filled with false news that the Pakistani forces were doing well but the Next day we got the news that surrender had taken place. Later many facts were exposed that made me ashamed of the whole situation. The Pakistan Army played a role that made the local population hate them so there was no local support. The locals were looking forward to see them go packing home. The Pak Army over there was demoralized therefore it was pointless to fight as they were fighting a loosing battle. I feel that it was a good thing that the surrender took place. Lives were saved. We still need to learn from this event. yes general Niazi was the only general in the entire high command who was in favour of surrender the rest of the Pakistani high command wanted to put a fight till the end to save themselves from the humiliation they suffer today. when the civilians that supported the government of zulfiqar ali bhutto and the peoples part were being evacuated general niazi was also asked to leave as his capture would mean an even bigger humiliation but he stayed at the end for just surrendering

As a Bangladeshi🇧🇩, I would like to tell all NaaPakstaniz..since all of you are talking about indian involvement, indian support etc. in our Bangladesh Liberation vvar, I ask you all, Have you heard of Pak air force Operation Chengiz Khan? (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Chengiz_Khan) they were
preemptive airstrikes carried out by the Pakistani Air Force (PAF) on the forward airbases and radar installations of the Indian Air Force (IAF) on the evening of 3 December 1971, and marked the formal initiation of hostilities of the Indo-Pakistani vvar of 1971. (And the Bangladesh Liberation vvar starred 9 months earlier on 27th March, 1971. It was only after this PAF operarion, that India entered Bangladesh)
This operation by Pakistan air force targeted 11 of Northern India's airfields and also included artillery strikes on Indian positions in Kashmir. The targets were the Indian Airbases of Amritsar, Ambala, Agra, Awantipur, Bikaner, Halwara, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Pathankot, Bhuj, Srinagar and Uttarlai and air defence radars at Amritsar and Faridkot. So why did Pakistan carry out this operation?
*Reason* : By October 1971, when there was no indian army presence in Bangladesh yet, our Bengali Mukti Bahini had started launching massive raids deep into Pak army bases of East Pakistan . The Mukti Bahini also launched an offensive on Jessore, Southern Bangladesh at this time.It was clear to Islamabad by this time that East Pakistan was indefensible in the long run, as the Bengalis were too valiant and strong.
So basically, the var in Bangladesh in 1971 was a Pakistan civil vvar. Pakistan did the job of involving India in this problem by atakking India. You pakis yourselves invited the Indian Armed Forces in East Pakistan / Bangladesh, you Pakistanis deliberately called the Indian Army to Bangladesh with these airstrikez. But why? You ask? Pakistan has involved India in this war to implement the Red Cross agreement .
Pakistan fought the vvar with the Bengalis of Bangladesh as a civil vvar. So at the end, there would be no "Prisoner of War" agreement with the Red Cross (as it only applied to international vvars), and the Bengali Muktibahini (Liberation Army) would not spare a single Pak soldier aliv€, had in case Pakistan Army solely surendered to bengalis only. But when India came to the war, 93,000 Pakistani soldiers who surrendered to Bengalis on 16 December , 1971 (one of the largest surrenders in history, as you can see in the video ) they were able to return to Pakistan alive. Without "India ", even The paramilitary Tiger force of Bengali Kader Siddiqui ( en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kader_Bahini) would cut those 93k i̸n̸t̸o̸ p̸i̸e̸c̸e̸s̸.̸ . Not Even a single Paki could return to Pakistan safely. Ships laden with bones would have been sent to Karachi port instead. Because we Bengalis would not have followed the rules of the Red Cross..You had no idea what we Bengalis had plans for these 93k soldiers you see in the video ..You Pakistanis should be thankful to India as that enabled you getting your soldiers back in Pakistan safely
