    This device, to be honest, blew my mind after testing it with a few demos and learning that it can be used for more than just AR/VR, which we'll talk about today.
    As a summary, we will focus on hardware specs, hand tracking results comparisons between Stereo IR 170 vs. Leap 2, as well as running the new beautiful Ultraleap Aurora hand tracking demo. This video should provide you with a great overview of the power of the Leap Motion Controller 2 and development tools including those for Unity and Unreal.

    Hello, what is the reason for the slight shaking of hands in the game in the video? It's not as smooth as cinema tahnk you

    • @dilmerv
      @dilmerv  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question, hand tracking normally is not very very smooth unless you add additional coding to stabilize it, there are also different variables here such as lighting conditions, camera position, and various settings available that I could probably tweak to improve it.

    Is it possible to use the Quest 3 with a dual usb C dongle? So wired to the PC and also to the leap motion 2 controller on the headset? Or do i need to wire both to the Pc it self?

    • @dilmerv
      @dilmerv  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Thanks for your question, I asked Ultraleap the exact same question when I was testing. This was their response:
      So basically there are 2 ways to use the Leap 2:
      1. You have a windows Hand Tracking Service, a windows application and run it via a link cable - this requires the Leap 2 to be plugged directly into the PC.
      2. You have an android Hand Tracking Service, an android application and you run it directly on the headset - this requires the Leap 2 to be plugged directly into the headset.

      If not i will make a twin usb c cable with 5 meters ;)

    Hey master ! Are game or VR devs still underpaid ? If so do you think it'll be changed in the future ? i want to be VR, XR dev but there are lot of horror stories about the industry you know..

    • @dilmerv
      @dilmerv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always tell people to learn C# or C++ very very well, then the engine comes down to specific use cases, same with XR, so I would say there are jobs available across industries as long as you can adjust quickly and learn quickly.

    I bought the first Leap Motion a few days ago but seems like it's pretty useless nowadays. No support for Mac after Catalina and all the examples that I found doesn't work very well.

    • @dilmerv
      @dilmerv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Leap Motion Controller 1 is definitely very old, it was originally released 2013 which is why there were different versions released after such as Stereo IR 170 and the reason why we are getting an upgraded Leap 2. This new one works very well with macOS and windows and I tested it a lot, I really recommend it!

    Is better to buy ULMC2 or hand rancking for pimax crystal? Is it possible to not have Motion controller 2 on headset, but have mounted on sim rig?

    • @dilmerv
      @dilmerv  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would assume hand tracking for pimax crystal is better integrated to pimax than ULMC2, but it turns out pimax themselves are using Leap Motion technology behind the scenes 😅 so other than having a cohesive accessory I would say get the Leap Motion version.

    • @dilmerv

      Different use cases to be honest, you can use hand tracking on a kiosk without needing to have haptics, same with a boxing game: perhaps haptics in that case is more application or during a realistic sim, but not all use cases are the same.

    Do you think that pipeline from Google will dethrone leapmotion as a hand tracking solution?

    • @dilmerv
      @dilmerv  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That won’t happen anytime soon, AR/VR platforms have very strict rules about sharing the camera streams plus doing so can be very expensive on the GPU, perhaps in the future I could see some of it but not completely. There is also the advantage of having a company focus on hand tracking & its SDKs to avoid all the complexity of integrating to multiple devices. So honestly, I don’t see that happening, yes it could take a few people to do their own custom thing with Google tools but it won’t really affect Ultraleap in my opinion.
      Good question Marco!

    is it possible to build AR app for windows 10 ?

    • @dilmerv
      @dilmerv  ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on what you are trying to build, there are plenty of examples that can do computer vision for you and simulate an AR app through your webcam, Vuforia does this today with their webcam simulation tools. I would say for a true AR experience having a phone or glasses makes more sense to me.

    what exactly is the point in putting a hand tracking device on a hand tracking headset?

    • @dilmerv
      @dilmerv  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great point and you are right Quest 2 has great hand tracking but unfortunately it just stays within the Quest 2. This device goes beyond just Meta, you literally can take it off and put it above your computer monitor and build an application that runs on a desktop, you can also use it for kiosks to enable hand tracking. This also works on multiple VR/MR headsets so you aren’t lock down to just Meta.
