I’m really happy for you, Serina. I’m happy that you and Ian are choosing to be helpful to one another instead of enemies, that speaks a lot to your character and your love for your children. I’m happy you had male muscles to do the tilling and help with the compost hauling. And I’m happy for you that you are moving forward in thankfulness and vision for what you want your life and property to be. I think you’re a rock star!
What a great post. I agree. And am proud of you. Getting my hands in the soil helps me feel grounded, and the flowers gives me joy and peace. All the hard work will pay off in many ways.
Greetings from Crimea! I am 60 years old. 30 years ago with my husband and son (8 years old) I moved into my grandmother's old house. Near the house there was a plot of 16 acres, the third part of the plot on the hillside. My husband did not want to live in the village and we divorced. I had to work very hard physically to make the dry hill a blooming garden. "The eyes are afraid but the hands do" ...And..... "the walking one will master the road"
If you tip the wheelbarrow half way on its side up against the compost pile and then shovel it in and then tip it back on its wheels.. it goes a LOT faster than picking up individual shovel loads. Sincerely, someone who works alone outside a lot in between kids naps 😂
"she lives without fear, not because she is immune to challenges, but because she knows that there is a plan and a purpose to it all". GO SERINA and hello Sam, your strong helper ❤
I have been depressed for so long now, 7 years, Since my sister died. As Autumn has come around, my funk is lifting and I’m finding myself lighter and a little happier each day. Watching you on these videos has been tremendously helpful and encouraging and ultimately VERY *Inspiring*. Thank you so much for sharing your very tender journey with us. You are a LIGHT.
Life keeps changing. So very true. In my fifties I was a happily married woman. At 60 I was a widow. Not what I had planned. But I always remember my favorite line in the Shawshank Redemption. “ Get busy living or get busy dying.” Your plans look amazing. I know your garden will be spectacular. One day at a time.
Serina I moved that much earth when I moved to my new place. Filled up a number of raised beds and holes around the yard. I know how much work that is. I think it took a month of after work and weekends. I am much older so it was slow going. But once it's done it feels good. You have a great yard. Can't wait to see it in bloom.
May I second that last comment, because she said it all 😊💕💕 I am just so happy for you and proud of you for being proud of yourself!! Change is so damn difficult, but you are handling it with such grace. I want to send you a great big hug 🤗 Please know that you have a community here to cheer you on and help celebrate your journey sweetheart 💕
Sirena! I can relate to how physically exhausting it is to do that work! I spread 16 tons of 1/4" minus gravel two weeks ago in a sacrifice area next to my barn. I planted a bunch of trees that weekend too! It takes so much grit and determination, but take it one step at a time. Don't kill yourself off. Pace yourself. I'm nursing a pulled hamstring from the gravel spreading. Take time for self-care and give yourself a big pat on the back. We are all celebrating your wins! 🎉
I just love your spirit and openness. I completely understand the “ hidden struggles “. You’re so brave and driven and kindhearted. I love your content but I also really enjoy watching you and the family interacting. I can’t wait to see your peonies next spring ❤
Starting from scratch at my new home too. I moved about 3 yards of compost and 5 yards of soil by myself just to fill my new raised beds. Many yards of woodchips, compost, and soil to be moved in the spring for my landscape. Overwhelming, exciting, and tiring work, yet very rewarding!
So happy to see Ean there helping you start your new gardens, Your both such hard workers and do so well creating a beautiful involvement. May you always stay friends. Love seeing your start from scratch, looking so forward with excitement to see what things look like in spring. Have a blessed fall / winter season.
As soon as I saw the tiller going through with Ian, I knew your soil was good. It’s great to see you getting started. It’s also sobering to see the amount of work it takes even to set up this size garden. But what you said was revealing. It was obvious to viewers that you were doing too much at the farm - burning the candle at both ends. Your goals were really not in keeping with what was achievable by just both of you. So an an objective viewer and one that has loved more years than you and gardened and lived I would say - you are going to make it. But take it one day at a time. Don’t overdo it. Those two lovely children of yours are growing fast, They need their mom to be available to them. So don’t let go of your dream. But don’t overdo it this time. And kudos for a job well- done.
You go girl! You've got this!! I've had to start over a few times and somehow gardening has always saved me and been my source of happiness and satisfaction despite all the challenges. The garden community and all your followers are so proud of you! 👏💚👩🏻🌾
I am SO excited to see you on your own journey! I envision an abundance of personal growth for you in this chapter, and already can see what a difference this change is making. Happy to see you and Ian helping each other out too. All the best for the future!
Keep an eye out for a light weight electrical tiller for your use in the future. So many good options these days. Love to you and Ian, keep up the team work for the common good. I truly do look forward to what changes are on the horizon for you.
You go Sirena! You are a strong woman and I'm looking forward to seeing your new vegetable garden! 🥰 You will not only do this, but you will do it with the enthusiasm that is fully you! Also, make a stack of books you want to read and fill your spirit with good stories during this season of rebirth of a new dream.
You go girl!!! The aching you feel when you lay down at night has got to be one of the most satisfying and rewarding aches you’ve ever had. One step at a time…
I planted all mine like you did and gave them space, unlike Serina. Mine, however, got stomped into invisible by the family of stray cats my hubby feeds. Lesson learned....foot traffic might be paws.
Long time viewer cheering you and your familiy on from Europe. You are doing great team work. So determined - go Serina, pushing 26 wheelbarrows. And such wise and insightful words in the end. Yes, sometimes it is hard to explain the seamingly small things that take so much efford. But it seems like you are taking all the small steps whenever you find the courage and time and energy to do so. You are building a beautiful life.
Serina, I'm as excited as you are about all the potential you have in your yard. I can't wait to see all the flowers starting to bloom come spring. It will feel overwhelming when you look at all that needs to be done, or all you want done. If you take little pieces at a time and accomplish the task before you know it the job/plan will be done. Like you, I'm over- whelmed. I've learned to take a notebook write out all the things I want to do in my garden. Or draw what I want done with colored pencils. Then on the next page of that notebook, I take a little section of the garden and doodle some notes and drawings. Then just work that little section in the garden until I'm done. Then draw a line through the entire page when done. Turn the page of the notebook and take another little piece of the garden and design the next section on paper. Use the notebook like a little map a section at a time until your totally done with the back yard (garden). Then start another page (like a chapter in a book) and design your front yard. Continue this process until your totally done. If you just take little sections at a time it doesn't feel overwhelming. I use my notebook like a diary/journal and doodle to myself. When I look back at what I've doodled,I have to laugh at myself and realize all will get done on God's schedule, not mine. Serina, your doing an amazing job with your kids, your new home, and with yiur self (sending hugs your way).
I resonated with what you said towards the end. The invisible work is the hardest. And it is all a metaphor. Planting bulbs and bare roots looks like planting nothing-and sometimes when I’m pressing a seed into the earth, I can’t believe it would ever really sprout. And then it does ❤️
You seem so much happier than before. Love to you. During these times when much in the world seems off and scary, working on the land is core to being and so steady and true. I gain from sharing your yard journey. Thank you for being you.
Starting from scratch again too. Life Changes. Looking forward to creating a new garden space in a new place that has tons of trees but needs to be cleared. And having to learn a new growing zone! Mixed feelings of sadness but excited, yet a bit ovewhelming at my age.
I'm super impressed with you, Serina. I can't wait to see your hard, hard work pay off. You are my inspiration ❤️. I know you are gonna keep thriving. All the best to you and your family.❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊

Dig holes and just toss the bulbs in and cover them up…bulb planting the easy way! Excellent, Serina, and so excited to see all the growing things next year.
2 years ago we moved to our property and had to wheelbarrow 20 yards of compost for the garden. I feel your pain still. Looking at a wheelbarrow reminds me every time. I’m so happy and excited for you💚
Wow! I love the idea of a hedge of peonies! I’m so jealous! When I first saw you start digging I was also a bit jealous of your soil. It’s so nice and dark. Mine is straight clay and I thought I could amend as I go but it just hasn’t been enough so I started replacing about 1/2 the soil of each of my beds. Which means I had to dig up all of my perennials and bulbs. And and sift through the soil to find hundreds of teeny tiny baby crocus! What a crazy job! But next year it will hopefully be totally worth it. It is so overwhelming starting a new life but I just keep telling myself there is no right or wrong way to do it except to just keep chipping away little by little. At 52 I don’t have the strength and stamina I used to but I can still do it, it just takes a little longer. You can do this. I actually wish I had a slope to get creative with but everything is fairly flat.
You are doing a fantastic job, when 1 door closes, another opens..new opportunities & experiences await you. I am intrigued at your bulb planting method...I will be keeping my eyes peeled to see how they progress & maybe next year my days of setting out bulbs pointing up in neat rows will change. Because it is all about time. Looking forward to seeing your plans coming alive.
Sam will grow up enjoying being silly yet getting stuff done. Excellent combination. Every flower starts as a seed with potential, like we do. It takes time, care, doing goofy stuff, chores we don't really want to do, but slowly we bloom ourselves. You're getting ready to start doing your own bloom. The peonies will definitely be noticed by people who live blocks away.
Just stopped by to say that Serena this new garden looks good on you. You just look so much happier in yourself despite the challenges you are facing. I have to say though my legs and back hurt just watching the first 4 barrow loads. Well done on so a huge effort, the garden will be so worth it.
Thank you for sharing! If anyone can do this, YOU CAN! You've got this! 💯❣️ I love that you made a peony border around your garden. That's a great idea! I'm almost 67 years old, and I miss gardening! I have some physical challenges now, but you have INSPIRED me to try gardening again on a different level. I think you should add a border of marigolds in front of the peonies for full season color and insect deterrent, and as you know, they look beautiful. 😊
This is an even more valuable lesson than another similar season on the farm. A life lesson, flexibility in these difficult times. I keep my fingers crossed for you, greetings from Warsaw, Poland
This video captured so much for me. Your wgeel bartow trips reminded me a job I did wherevwe had 25 yatds of CV ompost abd 25 yards of mulch...and I did most of the labour...but i loved it❤... I could feel your drive. But what i really appreciated was you comments at the end! My husband has dementia, do everyday is a new learning at this stage.... But your comments remnided me that these new times are moments of getting through, step by step...beginning again. I think yiu abd wheelbarrow abd conpost could be a new shirt to market... Get it done .. or getting thriugh... Or starting again...starting over . Or how did you make this happen Whatever .. anyways. thanks for the storry ...
Great start, Serina. I know you will make a great garden and flower beds. You have so many leaves there you will be able to get your own compost going too. 💕
Wow, great progress! Sam is hilarious - "I'm the dirt man, I love dirt" haha, I love that! Thank you for sharing, I look forward to seeing this transformation and learning from you! I hope your not too sore from moving all that compost, rest well!
Rock it girl! That yard is going to look marvelous and it'll be a great place for you to express your creativity. Really happy and excited for all your possibilities ✨🏵️
Excited to see the next chapter and sending many blessing for a bountiful harvest for next yr, thanks for allowing us even a glimpse of your family journey ❤
So happy for you! Today as I look at my baby pomegranate tree I noticed five babies are blooming leaves are about gone. I thought it dead for the season.
Just watched a video from 3 years ago. Everything you said over the video was beautiful. It was at a small home. Kinda where you are now. Life is pointing you in the direction you need. Thank you for sharing your wins. And the difficulty that comes with them. The evolution of the garden and yourself is going to keep me coming back. I'll be following on Instagram also. I'm Huggsyy.

So true, either one sets about being active or just sit down and feel sorry for oneself. Widowed.
Your smile when the tilling was done and you realized the soil wasn't bad....your smile lit up the screen. Your joy in that moment was felt by us all.
Your son is doing great. What an awesome helper. The man of the house.
So glad to see Ian helping! Happy you two are getting along.
Honestly, you seem happier. I’m glad you’re doing so well during this time of life transition! Excited to see you continue to flourish! 💐
OMG girl you have energy, strength, and a vision. How exciting!
Congratulations 🎉 Happy that you have good soil. Also, wow! Moving all of that compost in a day is such an achievement.

Dig holes and just toss the bulbs in and cover them up…bulb planting the easy way! Excellent, Serina, and so excited to see all the growing things next year.
Go go Serena, I'm supporting you 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I cannot express how excited I am to see your garden this spring!! Ahh!!!
The yard's looking great! Can't wait for the spring updates!
2 years ago we moved to our property and had to wheelbarrow 20 yards of compost for the garden. I feel your pain still. Looking at a wheelbarrow reminds me every time.
I’m so happy and excited for you💚
After moving 7 yard of compost this summer my jaw dropped when I saw the thumb nail
Sirena! I think your very brave, you’ve got this… I’m so excited for your new beginnings … it’s baby steps!
Can't believe I have been following you guys since sam was a baby. Now he is all grown up helping his mom out tears 😢
I wish I loved something as much as you love what your doing. Your enthusiasm is inspiring. 😊
I can't wait till spring/summer to see everything come out of the ground and flowering.
Here for your next chapter, I know it'll be amazing!
So true what you said about the parallels between gardening and life
Love seeing the updates
So happy to see you making progress❤
Go Serena go!!! I’m most excited to see the peonies
I'm very happy for you! Everything will fall in place like you want! I'm pretty sure about it. You are an inspiration!
Looking forward to seeing your plans coming alive.
blessings to you and wishing you ease in all of these new endeavors, serina.
I found myself smiling by load 6 at the b reel of you and the kids. Keep pushing, we are rooting for you! I just know it’s going to look beautiful.
Love the ending xx 😊
So happy 😁 for you…..BLACK GOLD!!! ❤❤❤
The new garden is gonna be great! New ideas, new spaces and you get to choose whatever you want to grow.
It’s going to be amazing! With all the skill you have developed. We are all on pins and needles!
Love your out look! You can do it!!!😊
Power and prayers for!
Just stopped by to say that Serena this new garden looks good on you. You just look so much happier in yourself despite the challenges you are facing. I have to say though my legs and back hurt just watching the first 4 barrow loads. Well done on so a huge effort, the garden will be so worth it.
I love your spirit. You can do it. Keep moving forward and it will all come together. You know what you’re doing, get at it!!❤
Thank you for sharing! If anyone can do this, YOU CAN! You've got this! 💯❣️ I love that you made a peony border around your garden. That's a great idea! I'm almost 67 years old, and I miss gardening! Serina, you are rockin it Sis. Really enjoy you and your progress 😊
I’m excited to see what spring brings you! You are inspiring with how hard you work towards your dreams.
I am so happy for you and how good your soul looks (it looks good and black) on my video. You will do great there, so proud of you!
So glad you are taking us with you:) I second so many comments!
You are an inspiration .Going through very difficult life challenges with such grace, optimism and joy.
This is an even more valuable lesson than another similar season on the farm. A life lesson, flexibility in these difficult times. I keep my fingers crossed for you, greetings from Warsaw, Poland
Thank you for creating such a fun and inspiring video. It was so good to be back at ‘work’ with you. Loved all the speeded up sections.
You will get through this focusing on 1 day at a time. Good luck 🍀
So proud of you!!! Your garden is going to be beautiful! Happy Gardening and may you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Or how did you make this happen
Whatever .. anyways. thanks for the storry ...
It's going to be amazingly beautiful. Cheers to new beginnings and abundant life : )
Great start, Serina. I know you will make a great garden and flower beds. You have so many leaves there you will be able to get your own compost going too. 💕
Everything will be fine!❤ God bless you.😊

So happy for you! Today as I look at my baby pomegranate tree I noticed five babies are blooming leaves are about gone. I thought it dead for the season.
Just watched a video from 3 years ago. Everything you said over the video was beautiful. It was at a small home. Kinda where you are now. Life is pointing you in the direction you need.
Thank you for sharing your wins. And the difficulty that comes with them. The evolution of the garden and yourself is going to keep me coming back. I'll be following on Instagram also. I'm Huggsyy.
Thank you Ian ... all of us anticipating something, anything, resembling a lush garden space and "yield" are greatful for your tilling.
