    McG you popped up on my feed this morning and I jes had to give it a watch. You're living the good life and not only that but you have the wood cook stove outside the house where it belongs. I was looking at the wood walls calculating that I'd never be that rich. Anyway, times being what they are I planted my first ever patch of field corn...Reids Dent, in my neighbors yard next door. I have my customary 300 ears or so of Golden Queen raising in mine. Gotta get out there EARLY of a morning to shake those stalks to get that corn dust flying bekez my sweet corn is way too close to the field corn. Don't want no intermixing. Wouldn't be prudent.
    Got me a corn grinder and I'm planning on making my first ever meal, grits, masa. In my late come by prepper way of thinking that's what we call 'sustainable' eats. This year is the experiment. At least I hope it's just an experiment. We'll see this fall. But back to you... Who knew they were teaching the ace sort of video perduicin, editin' and so forth skills out on the farm like that? Monster UPVOTE! Ya done GREAT! (I may just invest in one of them half mile long pulley belts myself!)
    Your bestest fan way down in Alabam,
    Norm

    Motorizing that grinder was the best idea. Hand cranking may be good for you, but it certainly is time consuming. Great looking cornbread. I sure it tastes as good as it looks.

    I’m glad you aren’t a helicopter parent, you allow your boys to split wood with an ax Caleb was feeding corn to the mill. You may not know this but your young men have learned better life skills than probably 90% of the adults of today. Thanks for another awesome video.

    I like the set up you guys have. Definitely need to invest in some of the machines you guys have. I’m over here with a hand grinder from Cabelas trying to make venison sausage every year and a pestle to grind my seasoning and stuff. Might be time to upgrade my equipment lol.

    Good video!!! How do you store your ground corn and wheat ?

    • @McGieHomesteadAdventures
      @McGieHomesteadAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      About a gallon of it we can use without it going bad if we stored in a dry cool place. More than that will need to be frozen. We have propane freezers and also access to in-laws freezers!😉
