  • Josiah takes the throne at the age of 8 and determines to reign in a godly manner. At some point, the law is discovered while cleaning out the temple, and he immediately embarks on a campaign to follow it to the letter.
He removes all idols, high places, and religious prostitution (male and female) and re-institutes Passover. He also removed all occult activities including mediums and witches.
For some reason, later in his reign, he decides to attack the Egyptian armies as they are on their way to wage war with Assyria, and he is killed by Pharoa Necoh. Egypt then subjugates Judah, demanding tribute from the next 2 Judean kings, Jehoahaz and Jehoiakim.
Both rebelled against Egypt, and Jehoahaz was taken to Egypt where he died. Jehoiakim paid tribute up until the time that Babylon conquered Egypt -- at which time Judah became a vassal of Babylon.
