Matthew 17: The transfigured Jesus has a summit with Moses and Elijah, then rebukes demons and taxes
Jesus takes His closest three apostles to a mountain-top where they witness his full divine glory expressed as His human soul shines through his skin and clothing.
Moses and Elijah show up to meet with Him as they discuss the coming crucifixion. Peter wants to make three shrines, one for each of them, but the Father interrupts to declare that the Son has fulfilled everything as is beloved; after which the 2 prophets are gone, leaving only Jesus.
They return to the base of the mountain where the remaining disciples are unable to cast out a particularly viscous demon. Jesus rebukes their lack of faith and easily dispatches the entity.
He once again declares his upcoming death and resurrection, but they still don't get it.
Upon entering Capernaum, Peter is asked if he and his master pay the temple tax, to which he replies, "Of course!"
Peter then checks with Jesus to see if it is true, and Jesus responds that, only conquered people pay taxes.
It is interesting that Jesus considered this tax to be wrong, but to 'avoid offense', Peter is asked to trust God for the funds -- which arrive in a very unusual way.
The world, government, and people often leave us at a loss financially, but it is part of our call to trust God to make it up to us.

Matthew 16: Opposing forces unite against Jesus; Peter declares Jesus' divinity, then rebukes him.
วันที่ผ่านมา
The Pharisees and the Sadducees were lifelong enemies, but when Jesus came along, they became united in their efforts to discredit and destroy Him. They demand a 'heavenly' sign, implying that all of His previous signs could be Satanic counterfeits. Jesus responds by giving them a lesson in reading the weather. Jesus warns the disciples to beware of their false and contaminated teaching, using ...
Matthew 15: Jesus rebukes Pharisees, goes to Tyre, then returns East to feed 4000 gentile families.

The Pharisees attack Jesus because His followers were not following the religious traditions of ceremonial hand-washing, so Jesus attacks them for breaking God's laws with their traditions. He declares that a man is unclean by what comes out of him not what goes into him. Peter doesn't get it, so Jesus has to explain it more graphically. They then travel to the coast (Tyre and Sidon) where they...
Matthew 14: Herod Antipas executes John the Baptist; Jesus feeds 5000; Peter walks on water

John the Baptist openly condemns Herod Antipas for his adultery with Herodias, his brother, Philip's, wife. Herod has him arrested, but not executed for fear of the people. He doesn't want to make him a martyr. However, when his niece danced seductively for him, he offers her any prize she wishes and her mother (Herodias) asks for John's head on a silver platter. Jesus' disciples bring him the ...

After the leadership of national Israel rejects Jesus, he stops preaching plainly, and instead, preaching only in parables to the masses. This chapter has 7 specific parables that begin to picture the coming church age. There are 2 main categories: Those that depict a future kingdom of great growth mixed with negative afflictions, and those that demonstrate the great price that will be paid so ...
Esther 3-4: Haman is offended by Mordecai's lack of respect and schemes for the Jews' destruction.
มุมมอง 6หลายเดือนก่อน
Haman (a descendent of King Agag, an Amalekite) is raised to power in Persia, and he becomes offended and angered when Mordecai refuses to bow and give honor. This is not because of a religious prohibition against bowing, but rather refusing to bow to an Amalekite. We have an interesting situation in that, if King Saul, 600 years earlier, had obeyed God and removed the remaining Amalekites ther...
Matthew 12: Israel's religious leaders reject Jesus as Messiah--and Jesus moves on to individuals.
มุมมอง 2หลายเดือนก่อน
The religious leadership, representing national Israel, categorically reject Jesus claims of messiah, even though he has checked off every prophetic criteria that THEY demanded. Once they claim that Jesus casts out demon by the power of Satan, Jesus declares they have crossed the line. By knowingly and willfully ascribing the Holy Spirit's power to Beelzebub they have blasphemed the Holy Spirit...
Matthew 11: John the Baptist has doubts; Jesus warns the nation of the consequences of rejection.
มุมมอง 4หลายเดือนก่อน
John the Baptist is in prison for calling out King Herod's affair with his sister-in-law. John is disillusioned, wondering if Jesus is, in fact, the Messiah, or perhaps just great prophet like Moses prophesied in Deuteronomy 18. Jesus presents the prophesies of Isaiah 35 and 61, confirming to John that He is, indeed, the Messiah. He then praises John publicly, in case people are concerned about...

In Chapter 10, Jesus gives his disciples/apostles the power to do the same miracles that He has been doing in previous chapters. He also gives a list of the 12 apostles' names. He instructs them in the procedures for teaching of the coming Kingdom and how to treat people and villages if they don't accept the message. It is a message of urgency and warning. The miracles are the authentication th...

After giving us a lengthy sermon demonstrating the teaching of Jesus regarding the kingdom, Matthew now selects 10 supernatural miracles of Jesus that demonstrate His sovereignty over nature, Satan, sin, death, blindness, and demons. (Matthew also includes the story of Jesus calling from his successful tax-collector career.) As Jesus checks off the miracle requirements of the Messiah from Isaia...
Matthew 7: Sermon on the Mount, Finale: Jesus turns his sermon to interpersonal relationships.
มุมมอง 12 หลายเดือนก่อน
After presenting the criteria for both righteous thought and righteous living, Jesus now confronts the audience with the command to not judge those whom you may perceive are less righteous than you. The command to 'not judge' is probably the most popular verse among non-Christians, and it is both a prohibition against judging other's motives and a prohibition against passing sentence. To judge,...

After establishing that only internal changes of the heart are accepted in the coming Kingdom, Jesus now teaches on how these changes will be manifest in one's motives and actions. At the highest priority is one's relationship with God, and only with perfect priorities can one receive rewards from God. Otherwise, the best you can hope for is praise from people. Beautiful, I’ll keep checking back for your next installment. As I see you’re a religious type, does your church have a pipe organ? If so and you can/do play it, please record that and share. I can only imagine what some one with your talent could do on one
Phenomenal, that’s all I can say
This is amazing! What a great arrangement and execution, well done!
Excellently played

Awesome stuff! Hope to hear more of your work. You should use some better recording device. You are a metal head with blues, classical, and jazz hands.
Thanks so much!
Thanks so much! Grew up playing jazz -- but did a lot of contemporary classical (ives, Messiaen, Bartok, etc.) at Peabody.
This is perfect, love it! This is one of my favorite songs from DT!
Mine too! Thanks!
That's one of the most impressive things I've seen on TH-cam. I absolutely love this song and never thought that what you have done could be possible!

Thanks so much! Labor of love.
Stunned by your work on this song, but perhaps more by your immense catalogue of Bible material on your channel. Thanks for this amazing cover, bless you and your family sir

As a Dream Theater fan, this is one of the best things I've ever listened to in my whole life. You got me in tears. You're a legend. Thank you
I agree, this is my favorite song by dream theater. I have listened to it in numerable times and have it memorized, and to see this gentleman play it so accurately is a real Joy.
Thanks so much! It really is a moving piece.
Arrangement deserves respect, but performance is raw, too far from public playing.
Agreed. I had limited time and eventually had to settle for what I could do -- my recording options were quickly disappearing. Thanks!
How long it took to practice this? Great playing
Fantastic job!!
Thank you!
Wow! Awesome job! 🤘Dream theater 🤘
