- This was by far the greatest test of my skills… Thankfully I am super pleased with how it turned out! Watchmaking is extremely fun and step by step I feel as though I am getting more confident! I'm excited to see what the future holds! Who knows, this time next year I might be restoring vintage watches? Building custom watches from AliExpress has been so fun and has built up my confidence so much, I have had a lot of people ask me to try and build one from Amazon so here you go, enjoy!

You have a lot of DREAM watches, Elliott
I agree maybe be more creative with the title
Well he probably dreams every night
Yeah, but this is dream watch from Amazon!
If it works don't fix it @@MrLorenzo190
You'll always know what time is it, even in his dreams.
Elliot please never stop making custom watches i love watching u make them
Elliott, hi, i am a watch maker and i do sell custom watches,i love your work, these things are kind of entertaining for me, but i want to point out 2 mistakes i saw in this video, first the dial feet that you cut need to be trimmed, ever feet i cut i grab sand paper and wipe them off so there will be no extra feet that will probably bend the dial a little bit, second my friend I don't know if i saw it right or no, but i kind of noticed that you measured from the bottom of the crown directly to the case, you should measure from the bottom of the crown to the top of the screw so it leaves a little bit of room for you to press and make the movement come back to its working state before screwing the crown, but overall i love your builds keep up❤
These are my two observations as well. This is one of those videos where I could see him making the mistakes as he went and I was hoping he'd figure it out in the end. Glad he showed this process despite the mistakes, because we've all made them, and no one is perfect. When he measured from the crown to the case I was 99% sure he was going to cut the stem too short. lol. Glad he gave himself some room for error which ended up being needed.
@ sure man we all do mistakes and i really loves his videos and his progress, and i am bot here to judge i am here to be entertained and watch, and i am just telling him what he did wrong so next time he can avoid them
thanks for the advice! ❤
One more thing to note. the dial would fit even better if you filed down the broken off dial feet completely flat. at 25:44 you can see the dial raised up because of them.
Was just about to comment the same myself :)
@@yuvalp1998 me too!
Love your content Elliot. In fact your earlier watch building videos triggered my addiction to do the same and I can't stop building mods now! I love your style - so fun to watch and it's refreshing to watch content creators like you to show the mistakes too. I've learnt more from your videos than some of the so-called pro watch builders. Keep them coming!
Please never stop making these videos, i could watch these forever😮
I think it turned out well because you persevered when it wasn't going right. Like you I was sure they sent the wrong dial! The finished watch looks really smart.
I've done four builds now and there's always been something that doesn't go right at first!
I've learnt a lot from you Elliott, I really enjoy watching your watch builds so please keep them coming 👍
With appreciation and kind regards.
That's the beauty in build stuff. You learn from it and grow. A little scuff is mark of learning and solve the problem. Keep it up my guy.
Props to you for persevering and correcting the mistake !!
Thank you for the great and instructive video! Your videos on watchmaking are so much fun to watch and really inspiring. Great to see your chanel grow, keep up the great work.
Milanese armbands are my favorite for watches. My Raketa Goroda came with one and it's the most comfortable metal strap I've ever worn. Plus it has way more adjustments than any buckle or butterfly straps.
you should def get a custom logo so "we don't have to" you're a national treasure
Finnally Something I Have Been Waiting For 😆😆
I'm pretty sure this movement is a DG-2813, which is not a clone of an ETA movement, it's a clone of a Miyota 8215 with some modifications. According to caliber corner it's sometimes wrongfully listed as an ETA clone.
Yes this seems to be the case! The more you know.
@@elliotcoll Bookmark that site Elliot! :p
@@elliotcoll I thought it looked so much like a miyota when you said ETA in the video lol!
Don’t beat yourself up so bad! You’re learning along the way which is okay ❤ great job either way and as you said it’s a learning experience full of value from the lessons learnt x
There is a huge learning curve between NH and ETA movements. You can break ETA movements very easily. You'll definitely learn from this experience and good luck with future ETA builds.
this whole process is learning itself so it is perfectly normal :) Thats why I bought everything with spare parts :)
Always professional Elliot and informative too ;) 10/10
It's all a learning curve Elliot, but the watch looks pretty good when finished, although I suspect you'll be back to Ali Ex for your next build, I've just completed my third build and I seem to be getting better.
How’s your other watched so far? Reliable? I just order kit because of you! Thank you for teaching us
Almost more of a nightmare watch than a dream watch with all the troubles it caused you, but it looks amazing once it’s all together and you’ve figured out the problems. Great video Elliot!
lots of dream watches
love the style of the watch
yayyyyyy another build finally
Awesome!
About the dial feet, I’ve found on Ali express a shop that sells spares, if you accidentally cut or damage the wrong one you can glue one of those spares in place and thus still use the dial.
It’s just the little pin with a small plate attached and that plate can be glued on the back of your dial 👍
You are supposed to grind away at the dial from behind so the plate you described sits flush with it. They are not just glued into place.
Do a digital one next
Waiting for ur next dream watch build 😂
“Dream” (TH-cam content)
The metal ring is probably a spacer to raise the dial away from the date ring. 😊
It is used in watches without the date as well, it is meant to put slight pressure on the gear right below the hour hand so it doesn't disengage with the minute gear driving it. At least that's what it does on my vintage russian watches with no date or day
File down where the cut off feet are. Also they make tape for watches called Dial Dots, it is basically what you used but pre cut to small squares or circles.
I have a question about assembly. How is the movement secured in place once in the body? Somehow i cant wrap my mind about it. I want to build a watch myself, so for me it's important to be well educated about the process and its nuances. Thanks!
yes, that spacer ring is for letting the date wheel rotate freely under the dial
I like a watch without a date complication
perfect my friend i love to watch your content
really enjoyed this one dude
Nice watch I really like it
A lot of the amazon products are just dropshipped, so essentially the same quality as aliexpress
If this channel turns into just Elliot building custom watches, nothing would be better
After watching your videos, I want to build some at some point.
next watches, you need to up your game by changing the bezel or/and the chapter ring ;)
That little ring holds the dial away from the date wheel so that the date wheel can rotate.
Please take the stem out when in time setting position, else you'll mess up the keyless work. Unlike the nh you been working with.
Updated: Saw it was a mislabeled movement, not 2824 clone which needed the above procedure. And a 2824 clone would have clamps for the dial feet.
Looks a lot like the Squale 1521 Blue version, same beautiful color!
You should try to make your own dial!
“I can try with a sound…. EEEGH”
What watch are you wearing in the video? Looks really good!
Looks amazing! Any plans to buy an old secondhand / used / broken seiko from ebay and mod it with new parts / movement?
I think its high time you got your own logo for your watch builds
I got an ali express ad when you said it. Google does hear and see all.
Hi elliot, It was just an Idea. Why not include annotations for the items you're using for the viewers who wanted to check on their local market to check 😊 Keep on building man
You certainly have a lot of DREAM WATCHES
Reminds me of the Lilienthal Berlin watch.
Do a panerai hommage
thanks for letting us learn from your mistakes!
Could you also try DIY Watch Club?
Change the bracelet to a dark brown leather strap and the watch would look perfect!! 👍
ive looked into it and from what i can tell the parts from amazon are the same as the ones on aliexpress, just more expensive
I was wondering, do you have any plans on building a watch with a chronograph functionality? Like using a vk63 movement as a basis
Really interesting to see alternative movements, how about a quartz movement for the next video? 😁
I'd love to watch him tackle putting hands on some of these quartz movements...
@@_BangDroid_ a quartz chronograph 😈
How do you know the movement Will fit in the case
It would be cool if one day, you could take commissions to make custom watches. It would be cool for us who don't have the time or patience with such things, lol
I'll do it
It always pays to do even 5 minutes of research when working on a new movement, never assume you'll just be able to _wing it._
But you figured it out in the end I guess.
Elliot, any tip to clean inside the crystal of my watch. I tried with everything but the dust or mark remain. Thanks!
Finally we get to see you work with a Swiss (clone) movement!
You should next build your dream movie watch.
What watch are you wearing while doing this?
the dial is the same as the one in my blue casio mtp-b145d. except mine has a date window
What's with the "18k" stamped on the back of the case?
The screws unscrew to hold the feet do they not?😊
You need to look back and see how the dial pins you cut off still stick down and arr causing the dial to NOT sit flush like it should. You need to file those by hand. Nice watch though.
Kinda looks like a milgauss rolex
That watch is beautiful :)
But I would file off the unused legs off the dial, as they lift up the dial where they should not. And anyway, if you buy the right tools, you can punch your own date window, too.
By the way, where are the Game Boys and the other Nintendo handhelds?
Wait, there's tools for that? I want to get into making custom dials, that would be great to have!
@cozmo4694 before Elliot was making his own watches, I didn't know that there were hand-pushing tools to fit the hands. I had to fit them with a pair of tweezers.
Hey man, whats that greenish blue putty stuff that you use to unscrew casebacks? I REALLY need one lol
It’s a deflated case ball! It should be inflated but i’ve never done it haha.
@@elliotcolla case ball? Lol im gonna have to get me one, looks super convenient for screwdown casebacks
Your dreams are the nightmares of Chinese factory workers 😂
What watch your wearing in this video?
try the white strap
How many dream watches are you going to build?
The stems are readily available on ebay.
It's a pretty watch, but I don't feel te secondhand is quite right for it.
Those TMI movements dont seem that bad now, huh?😂
its a date calender rimg i think
Dial dots. You need something called dial dots
Looks like a Rolex Milgauss
I dunno about this being a dream watch for anyone
The title seems thoroughly played out at this point. People will watch these custom watch build videos. There's no need for clickbait-y titles.. It might even turn some people off of them..
@@Unhomiee it's doing exactly that for me. Becoming obnoxious now.
how many "DREAM WATCHES" does one have
Welcome to watchmaking, you're going to screw things up and learn along, just be glad you did this mistake with cheap parts and not an expensive watch repair.
US amazon selection looks even more sparse than UK, definitely going to eat the risk of shopping with ali when I take the plunge for my own build
W video
ps it looks great
Another DREAM WATCH. Getting a bit old now, Elliott.
I mostly dream about girls, to bad I can’t build one of them 😂
Aka 'I cobbled together some tat from Amazon and really need to dream bigger'
Are you not meant to unscrew the side screws and put the dial legs behind, then tighten back down to hold the dial in place?
Just built my first NH34 GMT watch and am obsessed! Thanks for making your videos!
EDIT: Commented before watching the whole video 😂. Great discovery!
Oh look another Dream Watch......
one minute ago is crazy
How many dream watches (made from cheap Chinese parts) can one person have? 🤨
Why buy from Amazon ?
It's still Chinese made parts, the same you get from Aliexpress only 2 or more times as expensive.
Anyway -
Great build and nice watch 👍.
I doubt that movement will last long.
This one looks very cheap, unfortunately. Proportions are missed, fully polished case looks cheap too :/
