    I totally second that emotion that they didn’t need any gimmick with a sound like theirs. These dudes were way ahead of the blue eye soul before another incredible group came along. - Hall & Oates . 👍👍👍

      I'm a huge Rascals fan, but just thought I'd toss in the fact that Ray Manzarek of The Doors covered Bass on a Rhodes Keyboard Bass. They were a trio w/a lead singer. And it wasn't long before Guitar, Bass & drums power trios like Cream were filling huge arenas. But I get your point! I saw The Rascals live & they sounded plenty "full." What a great group!

    • @tompastian3447
      @tompastian3447 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, only 2 musical instruments, organ and guitar. Just wonder if Felix ever played bass pedals on his Hammond Organ? I don't think that was the case because you can't hear any bass pedals. Just heard this live version today for the first time. Note how the little fill in harmonies by Gene and Eddie are done by french horns on the record. Living in the midwest when the Rascals came out, all I knew about them was their records, of which "Good Lovin" and "Grovin" gave me the impression that they were black guys.

      I disagree. Not sure how old you are. The Monkees at the time, with their TV show hit were red hot in popularity, like it or not. As far as pure talent and longevity, the Rascals win all day long.

    • @cashed-out2192
      @cashed-out2192 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's what I was talking about. The Monkees were a "ground breaking"' quartet, that were famous for being, untalented singers. They were marketed as personalities, and made a successful career at that.
      Rascals were less popular and more talent. Most people know all four names of each of the Monkees, not so with the Rascals. Rascals are forgotten in popularity.
