  • Out onto the table tumble more ‘ultracast’ sprues from PSC - the Plastic Soldier Company. This time it’s a total of 105 figures forming a Mortem et Gloriam Carthaginian Army. Or at least that’s what it says on the box, we’ve actually got 36 African spearmen when apparently we should have 30 (bonus!).

I was quite happy with the new resin which I got on some warlord games Roman cavalry, I liked working with it, the flexibility seemed good to prevent me damaging the horses.

Hmm. These look like they could be nice figures if you can do a bit of corrective work, but the problem is that we simply shouldn't have to do corrective work. They should be correct when they come out of the box.

That material doesn’t seem to hold the detail all that well, and certainly not better than metal or hard plastic, besides being riddled with deficiencies that the buyer will have to correct, such as malformed spears and swords, hideous and difficult mold lines, and even holes in some shields. I would certainly not buy any.
Also, there are not 105 figures, but 81, according to PSC’s own website, for 45£ (and not 35£, as the video states), whereas you get actual 105 figures (in metal) from Forged in Battle’s War and Empire Carthaginian starter, for 48£, which means there are no savings at all. I think that this is one of the worst deals I’ve seen for 15mm subpar models. And this is a shame, because Corvus Belli actually produced very nice 15mm models and this is a disservice to them.

Forged in Battle are ridiculously expensive...

@@comteroi9219 I didn't get the numbers out of a hat, mate. I went to both websites and checked what I was saying. 48£ vs 45£ doesn't sound to me as ridiculously expensive. In fact, If I do the cost per figure, I get ~46 p per metal figure in Forged in Battle, against 56 p per plastic figure from PSC. Is it still the same price today?

hmm in their site the price is 45 pounds not 35, not to mention these are not 105 but 81. the deal is pretty bad if you ask me

Those are horrible. Badly mangled spears, holes in the shield, maybe okay if they were cheaper.

Why not Xyston instead of Corvus Belli...

Would have to include the elephants and a better variety of poses before I’d be interested

Looks disappointing compared to the metal equivalent I’ve seen. A real shame as I was looking into picking some of these up for MEG.

I hate the new "resin" models, no matter who makes them, there're crappy just like the ones in this review! Plastic for me is still my choice for miniatures.

I'm not a fan of this material, but hey I've dealt with worse molds in my time wargaming over the years.
