These prices are out of control. People need to stop buying these things until the companies start lowering they're prices.

    • @domestique3954
      @domestique3954 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Absolutely! For a piece of “plastic”.
people should remember there are other materials to build frames like steel and titanium, you’ll get these custom build for half the price.
Ethics in the bike industry have never been that low.
Race bikes have become status objects.
Who needs thru axles and creeking bottom brackets, squeezing disc brakes that start to rub after a descent?
My titanium race bike from 20 years ago is 8,5 kg/58cm,today they are at least a kg heavier and often less aerodynamic.
The beauty of a bike always has been the simplicity

Kidding. The two rear bolts have space within the frame to rotate around the headset and the front is anchored into the front of the fork. Obviously you wont be doing any bar spins on the S5, but everything is really simple to work on.

I'm hoping that by the time I save up enough money for this bike: 1. Bike companies will figure out that they aren't making cars and charging car prices, or 2. I become wise/smart enough to understand that I don't need a bike this expensive and can be 100% happy with no regrets with a bike half or less its price. Chances are 2 is a non-starter so I'm really banking on 1.

“Gimmick tech” didn’t come to mind at all when looking at the S5. Words like “fast”, “responsive” and “cool” come to mind when I look at the S5.
The bike I associate with “gimmick tech” is the Trek Madone, the previous Madone and the current Madone.

I own this bike. It's heavier at 7,3kg 17k than my Soloist 2006 7,2kg 3,5k, but what I actually want to mention is that you could buy an old Cervelo P3 with almost the same frame profile and it's likely still more aerodynamic than the new S5. You should have to look at the older TT frames and you'll realise they're merely adopting these geometries. The stiffness claim's are so minimal it's less advantage than you think.
UCI is a joke, they keep relaxing the rules and now the peleton is just riding TT frames for road racing.
I loves these gravel weekend warriors on their 28 - 32mm tyres trying desperately to keep with my 22mm tubulars. The latest frames must have pretty atrocious BB tolerance of these so called "high-end" frames I even managed to drop a Canyon Speedmax rider on my 9kg Colnago Master steel frame on very short flat 15km distance. Probably his bearings creating a lot of friction and that poor bastard didn't even know.
I'm not going to deny that these frames couldn't be efficient if they were slimmer and lighter, but they're gravel aero bastardised road bikes. Less for racing and more for whale consumer riding on the shittiest, low maintenance, cheapest roads (gravel paths). The recently downgraded a road nearby for lower maintenance during winter so the city could save money.
The most important thing on the bike is YOU, the engine and also the most drag. Get good bearings high PSI slim tubes, Shimano 105, high quality wheels Xentis, DT Swiss or Corima, 23mm Continental GP tyres, a high quality frame from Time, Look or good quality Chinese carbon brands and if you're fit not even the weekend warriors TT riders can stand a chance with their sad 35km/h.
If it's still too much for you to build the bike yourself then buy used. Theres plenty of dentist with inferiority complex selling their bikes they rode 500km.
Because if it were up to these brand's you'd be leasing these bikes forever.

This bike was really easy to assemble th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
