46:12 - The point of the Geth was explained. They are supposed to replace the Keepers. The Protheans on Ilos were able to interfere with Sovereign's signal to the Keepers to open the Mass Relay on the Citadel, throwing a wrench into to cycle. The Geth are the supposed replacement.
This. The geth troops are attempting to activate the relay. They went to Ilos for that reason as well. Shepard only made it back in time using the prothean relay into the Citadel, which Saren and geth used while Sovereign made a more... direct approach. It's even explained that the keepers were made to activate the relay the moment Sovereign (in this cycle) sends the signal, which didn't work because the protheans removed that from their programming. The geth being given the "access code" to do the thing in their stead follows.
Pretty sure he didn't. Or at least we see when he's choosing his team for the rest of the Virmire mission that Wrex is still a valid option. I'd say he let Ashley kill Wrex, and then reloaded a save.
Even when I played through as a renegade, I just couldn't let that happen. I did it once just to see what would happen and felt disgusted with myself and reloaded the game afterwords.
For the Garrus part at ~8:00 - basically Garrus and C-Sec started an investigation in reaction to Saren's actions, however - since he was a spectre, nobody gave enough evidence to Garrus to prove anything. Also - even if he had proven anything, he is STILL a spectre, thus above the law. However, Garrus trusts his guts and thus tags along with Shepard, since he thinks that she can bring him closer to the truth.
Seth-Tytarius Starrhorn HD Lyrics Probably not the BioWare that made Mass Effect: Andromeda, though. They had a cosplayer in charge of the facial animations.
Java Monsoon You're right about that statement, but the issue is that the cosplayer hired had no prior experience with animation when they were hired to oversee the ones made for Andromeda, hence why she is referred to by what she actually professes in.

Nano Steve no you didn't because I'm a fan, not a fanboy. A fanboy refuses to admit faults with the game, I will admit that even the only good ME game (ME1) has issues. However, to say it's as overrated as a series that hasn't been good for over two decades and yet somehow still has fanboys after Nomura's dick is completely ignorant.
Nano Steve it's true, Mass Effect isn't overrated at all. It's one of the few modern RPGs that actually deserves the title of being an RPG. And no, I'm not a fanboy.
Not that it matters, not that you're going to see this comment and hopefully you won't ever be in this position but the reliability of any bomb depends, in large part, to the person handling and arming it. I know a few people who've damn near been been blown to pieces because of a fuck up with an explosive. I've also experienced first hand an exlosive not going off because it wasn't armed correctly. On one of those occassions, had it been armed correctly I wouldn't be sitting here writing this pedantic ass comment and nitpicking a videogame nitpicking video by one of my favorite youtubers. 😂
It's revealed in the third game that the asari were well aware what the beacons were and how they were used. Yet, the asari councilor just plays along when the other councilors believe Shepard just had a "bad dream". And another thing, why didn't the asari councilor do that "embrace eternity" mindfuck on Shepard that Liara does several times in the game, she could have confirmed that Shepard was telling the truth.
Not necessarily. The asari knew it was a divine temple, whether the knowledge of it being a prothean beacon was lost or kept is not exactly answered (from what I caught from Liara and Javik bantering). Why the melding wasn't done? Because that's basically having s*x. As in, you can't just do it with anyone, there has to be a level of trust and regardless, the things Shepard saw aren't clear until melding with Liara like three times and not entirely. Also... 2020 should be proof of world governments being incompetent and pretending everything is fine.

Alliance: "Shepard, we really need you to save the galaxy from possible utter destruction. Also, could you take out that broken VI on the other end of the galaxy that literally any regular squad could do. Also, don't forget to pick up some milk while you're at it."
While I loved this, some of the insults towards characters like Ashley Williams was kind harsh. Though, I actually liked all the crew of the Normandy, so I might be a minority.
I liked everybody *but* Ashley, didn't think she was interesting, and that she was unlikable, her most notable feature as I rememebr was that she was a space-racist
@Dante Strife Yes, because being space-racist is the worst thing you could be in Mass Effect. To that end, I'll say this: being racist is not inherently a bad thing, especially in the context of Mass Effect and for Ashley's backstory. Sometimes, in the case of Ashley's backstory and ESPECIALLY between the Krogan and everyone else, it makes quite a bit of logical and reasonable sense.
There are quite a few instances of racism by others in the series, and even this game. I think Garrus calls someone a quarian bastard at some point and also says how he expected wrex to be different based on how all krogan act. Those are just two examples that come to mind.
I think it's funny, with RPG fans constantly harping on the importance of immersion and games not breaking it, that so many people complain about ME's desire to mask loading screens with elevators. Especially as how they aren't even static. The creators went the extra mile and filled them with crew member banter and news reports. Regardless of whether they were disguised or not, you'd still have to deal with them so why does everyone hate Bioware for trying to uphold immersion in an in-universe way during these otherwise "fade to black with a static picture" moments? I don't understand the anger and backlash this caused in the slightest.
Dog, me we had news net in those elevators; and event update on what shepherds choices. Me2 & Me3 broke that immersion with with actual loading screens. Masking loading times is Witcher 3, God of War (ps4), Spider-Man (PS4) need I go on? Dawg you sound dumb. P.S. stil lwas more useful then the Me3 slide show at end game which was loading the credits.
@@AudioVisualComicsClub ??? We're saying the same thing. Maybe I wasn't being clear enough or maybe you simply misunderstood what I wrote. I LIKE the elevator scenes in ME1. I DON'T LIKE the static screens in ME 2 and 3. What I was trying to say is that gamers are CONSTANTLY saying they they want more immersion in games yet they complained when Bioware gave them that in ME1. It's a case of people not knowing what they want. So, no "dawg", I wasn't sounding "dumb". I knew exactly what I was saying.
video game cliche #21 seems unfair - of course something you're searching for is in the last place you look, that's because YOU FIND IT in the last place you look.
Sin 147 (45m44s) is actually very much not a plot hole and is, in fact, *the* catalyst for the game's events, setting everything in motion *and* gets explained in the very same conversation with the Virgil VI. The VI explains that the best the Protheans could manage (once their extinction was assured) was to block future signals sent from the Reapers to the Keepers to prompt them to activate the relay. This plot point is absolutely crucial since it clarifies that a) the Citadel is actually a relay of Reaper design and b) the Keepers are a Reaper-modified race left behind to stop future races tampering with the Citadel *and* importantly, to activate the relay when the signal is sent. The Protheans blocking this signal is the most important point and the reason that Shepard's cycle is different. The events leading up to this game therefore are that Sovereign awakes, decides that it's time for the cycle to start, sends the "Go" signal to the Keepers, but crucially, nothing happens. Thus, he recruits and indoctrinates Saren, an organic with unrestricted access to the Citadel to find out what's wrong. They discover the Prothean tampering and so (and this is a plot hole) Saren somehow realises that the Prothean Beacon luckily unearthed on Eden Prime holds the answers and attacks with a squad of Geth, whose appearance prompts an Alliance response, thus beginning this game. Then ME2: Arrival happened and completely retconned this entire game's story, then ME3 happened and retconned both ME1 and ME2: Arrival by saying the Reapers didn't even need the relay, they could have made the journey in 6 months, by themselves, no relay needed. Then Andromeda happened and everyone suddenly has FTL and retconned the need for for mass relays.
From escaping reapers normally in ME3 not requiring relays, means ships regularly have FTL. Reapers themselves took years to reach the galaxy at FTL (thus not retconning ME1).
this has got to be much harder than the movies... i mean even some of the shortest video games are still hours longer than most movies... RPGs often take days on average... i mean i understand the "watch video with a notepad" but you have far more paitence than i do for these videos. Salute.
What? Surely, you can't be serious. Have you never heard of deaf people, who rely on subtitles to follow the dialogue in a game? And I, as the child of a deaf adult who grew up with subtitles on everything, prefer having subtitles. They help me catch any dialogue my ears miss, and if I'm wanting to hurry through dialogue, I can read it faster than they speak it.
@@ThePreciseClimber Also, a response threee years later. Check statistics. Around 95% of Assassin's Creed: Origins players had them on. It's a Mass Effect game? Fine! What about the the distorted voices of the aliens. No subtitles equals some people can't make out what they say, thereby won't understand the plot at some point.
To answer your question in 8:22 I believe that because Saren was there top agent, the whole thing was basically saying we'll launch a investigation to make you, humans, happy but nothing is going to be found because of his top status. So I think it was just to make the Humans "happy" that there was a "fair trial"
Sin 79: The way Garrus states it, he was ready and willing to kill the hostages if it meant killing the bioterrorist in his loyalty mission. Whilst he might have had a stigma around him being a maverick cop who is willing to do whatever it takes to stop a criminal, he would have been seen as a terrorist for blowing a seemingly innocent vessel out of the sky with no prior warning.
Mentally, I always add another +5 sins for Benezia's lines here. This is Marina Sirtis, aka Deanna Troi from ST:NG. +3 for the "fingers on my spine, teeth at my ear" line, another +2 for the "goodnight, little wing." Those lines are just terrible imho.
One sin that you missed that I have chuckling about for 10 years. The Council "disbars" Saren. Disbarment means to remove from the Association of Barristers. So the council forbids Saren from practicing law. The "bar" in "disbarment" is very different from barring, meaning blocking, like a bar across a doorway.
About the Volus, they rely on the turians for protection in exchange for helping them do business. That's probably the reason why they won't allow them on the Council.
One of the only channels when a notification comes up I stop everything, get popcorn and drinks and enjoy the ride. Seriously, GCN you are by far the best gamingsins channel on here(IMO). Keep up the amazing work and hope to see ME 2, Andromeda and much more content from your channel.
GCN my comment was aimed at the people who think ME2 is the greatest bestest Mass Effectest game ever, not you. The only think I really disagree with you on is the Mako, as I feel like with many other flaws with ME1, all was needed was _refinement,_ not outright removal.
A thing i never understood: why Anderson mention Shepard's vision during Saren's "Trial"? And why Saren try to defend himself from it? The vision don't have anything to do with Saren at that point (they just think he control the Geth the vision don't prove anything about that, even if the council believed Shepard that would have not incriminated Saren in any way) PS: Renegade Shepard is best Shepard
Around sin 86/87, the decision to give Tali the get data does in fact matter. It helps Shepard identify himself to Tali in ME2 because this is a conversation between only Shepard and Tali that no one else had knowledge of.
48:36 nope, the neutral options means one is a bigger priority, while the others just disregard entirely the council safety. It's the difference between "we'll do this if we have time" and "nope, not doing this, screw you" Also locking the relays is something only the reapers can do when they seize the citadel. I believe the Vi on Ilos explains it
46:03 You need to activate the relay thats on the planet that I cant remember the name of but its the one on the last mission. The Geth were used as an army for Saren so he can achieve his mission to find that relay that links to the Citadel. The relay lmwas pushed away into space from the the star supernova where it made its way to the random planet. The reason for Eden Prime was to get the Prothean becon?
Now personally, I think the biggest sin is the fact that the trilogy becomes kind of pointless the moment you learn that the only relay into Dark space is located on the citadel and nobody is smart enough to make the connection of destroy citadel + relay = reapers forever trapped in dark space, or at the very least until it's no longer our problem...
ok so destroying the citadel is both idiotically stupid and douchy as heII IN EVERY SINGLE WAY because A if you destroyed the citadel you would be destroying a very useful thing the citadel is clearly a very efficient colony space station B does it matter? CAUSE IT DOESN'T the protheans figured out that problem matter anyway and more importantly it didn't matter anyway because sovereign was stopped C again it doesn't matter anyway because even without mass relays including the citadel the reapers can travel throughout the galaxy all the mass relays do is make it more efficient and HEII this very thing I'm talking about happens im mass effect 3 (btw don't give me that buIIshit about "why didn't they just travel to the milky way without using the citadel?" work F%cking smarter not harder) D technically it's obviously worthless BECAUSE IT'S A GOD DAM VIDEO GAME * cough * I mean mass effect 3 made worthless anyway because of the crucible and E as bonus talk about an honorless douchbag destroying the citadel not only wasting resources BUTANDALSO just a HUGE dick move to delaying the inevitable is probably the most honorless andor douchy thing you could do
hahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahaha its funny because it doesnt lol yes the facial animations are better (thats because unreal is a better engine) but everything else is far far worse

YOU LET WREX DIE?
HOW COULD YOU?
Not in his actual playthrough. Wrex is still selectable...
Pretty sure he didn't. Or at least we see when he's choosing his team for the rest of the Virmire mission that Wrex is still a valid option. I'd say he let Ashley kill Wrex, and then reloaded a save.
he didnt lol
How could you? Lol why was that a question
Wait.. you actually choose your character's backstory? *SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!*
This game shall be mine!
Seth-Tytarius Starrhorn HD Lyrics only in 2 games, ME1 and DA:O
Seth-Tytarius Starrhorn HD Lyrics Probably not the BioWare that made Mass Effect: Andromeda, though. They had a cosplayer in charge of the facial animations.
Java Monsoon You're right about that statement, but the issue is that the cosplayer hired had no prior experience with animation when they were hired to oversee the ones made for Andromeda, hence why she is referred to by what she actually professes in.
Java Monsoon True, but it's very unlikely for someone to be a cosplayer and an animator in video games, both effectively, in their spare time.
Giving Tali the Geth Data will be brought up when you meet her in Mass Effect 2, and is what she presents from her pilgrimage. As a Tali fan, I kinda feel that's an important thing to do.
Sadly it doesn't effect anything game plays out the same anyway. It's nice that it was remembered though
yea but the data dont matter anyways because P R I O R I T Y : R A N N O C H
7:15 Actually, it's explained Hanar take special classes to let go of their problems with possessive pronouns if they are going to be working extensively with other species. Especially for a job as.... I don't know... A shopkeeper?
Yes but it still stands. They can only know their face name. Their soul name is known only to close people or drell who take part in the compact.
"Obvious setup for a squel is obvious." Sadly the sequel didn't see it that way and made its story ultimately pointless.
500 sins right off the bat
EA
They deserve it *clap clap, clap clap clap*
Too bad EA didn't co-develop the first game; that was Microsoft. Sin the right people their credit.
@@michaelmorton5698 nope
@@michaelmorton5698 EA deserve sins regardless.
Hearing that music at the start, god, so many memories, my fave games ever- best story I was ever lucky to experience I didn't mind the ME3 ending either tbh, left us all thinking all the way until now in the year 2017 5 years later!!
Love these games so much, never was I so attached to characters and a story in all my life aha.
500 sins for ea, FUCK sake
Nano Steve fuck off
Nano Steve no you didn't because I'm a fan, not a fanboy. A fanboy refuses to admit faults with the game, I will admit that even the only good ME game (ME1) has issues. However, to say it's as overrated as a series that hasn't been good for over two decades and yet somehow still has fanboys after Nomura's dick is completely ignorant.
Nano Steve can't tell if you're being serious or not
Yeah I know right? It should be 1000 sins for those greedy cock suckers.
Nano Steve it's true, Mass Effect isn't overrated at all. It's one of the few modern RPGs that actually deserves the title of being an RPG.
And no, I'm not a fanboy.
That ending song, though. One of the best in the Mass Effect series
quarians hitchhike on their pilgrimages, Tali did not leave a ship she owned on the Citadel.
M. Victor Howard I fucking love this comment, and thank you for your service sir.
Because the asari are an annoyance with limited utility
The only GamingSins channel I will ever sub. 10/10

Ahh GCN, as always a thoroughly enjoyable video. Your commentary is among the best in the sinning department. I will easiergly await your next video. Keep up the awesome work man you commentary always cracks me up.
Alliance: "Shepard, we really need you to save the galaxy from possible utter destruction. Also, could you take out that broken VI on the other end of the galaxy that literally any regular squad could do. Also, don't forget to pick up some milk while you're at it."
Why was “blast your virtual ass into actual dust” a sin? That line is iconic
@Dante Strife
Yes, because being space-racist is the worst thing you could be in Mass Effect.
Dante Strife she's better than Kaiden. I always killed off Kaiden because he's terrible at combat and Ashley isn't racist she doesn't trust Aliens.
There are quite a few instances of racism by others in the series, and even this game. I think Garrus calls someone a quarian bastard at some point and also says how he expected wrex to be different based on how all krogan act. Those are just two examples that come to mind.
Yep, sexualized insults have nothing to do with the character's flaws.
Never clicked on a notification so fast
Tywin Lannister same here... the video wasn't started yet and I was giving “like”

video game cliche #21 seems unfair - of course something you're searching for is in the last place you look, that's because YOU FIND IT in the last place you look.
Still waiting for the Dead Space series
Interesting that Ashley would try to save male Shepard in ME1, but Kaidan would stop her.
Yea so that sin with Ashley not letting Kaidan save Shepard shouldn't exist since Kaidan does the same to Ashley if it's male Shepard.
Sin 39: it's just a facade, to make it seem like the Council "did" something about Saren
21:58 ACTUALLY, that one counts as a point (hidden point system) towards peace in the Geth/Quarian War.
Salute.
Anderson calling out the frame was a direct callout to blade runner where deckard searched through a photo for one frame
Since you've done the Mass Effect, do you think you could do the Dragon Age series?
Too many dialogue options and possible outcomes. The whinging afterward would be unbearable.
yeah I'll admit the mako isn't perfect but it can actually take a hit unlike the cardboard box the hammer head.
"The last place you search has the item you're looking for." Yes... That's how that works.
"If l die in here, l'll kill him"
BEST quote in the entire trilogy
GamingSins sin: having subtitles for the narrator's voice but not for the in-game voices.
Subtitles are a failure of game design.
@@ThePreciseClimber no subtitles are amazing
To answer your question in 8:22 I believe that because Saren was there top agent, the whole thing was basically saying we'll launch a investigation to make you, humans, happy but nothing is going to be found because of his top status. So I think it was just to make the Humans "happy" that there was a "fair trial"
Surprised he didn't remove a sin for Garrus being ultimate space bro.
Sin 79:
The way Garrus states it, he was ready and willing to kill the hostages if it meant killing the bioterrorist in his loyalty mission. Whilst he might have had a stigma around him being a maverick cop who is willing to do whatever it takes to stop a criminal, he would have been seen as a terrorist for blowing a seemingly innocent vessel out of the sky with no prior warning.
I expected to hear Toto after the 'Hold The Line' part! xD
RockBandAddict666 exactly
Mentally, I always add another +5 sins for Benezia's lines here. This is Marina Sirtis, aka Deanna Troi from ST:NG. +3 for the "fingers on my spine, teeth at my ear" line, another +2 for the "goodnight, little wing." Those lines are just terrible imho.
I know!!
Is it bad that this game has been out for years, yet I have not seen actual gameplay for it?
I don't mean just for this game, I mean for all the games.
No wonder I haven't seen any gameplay, but just these conversations, and sex.
I actually have no interest.
Panther Same
I only knew about mass effect because of gamerpoop.
One sin that you missed that I have chuckling about for 10 years. The Council "disbars" Saren. Disbarment means to remove from the Association of Barristers. So the council forbids Saren from practicing law. The "bar" in "disbarment" is very different from barring, meaning blocking, like a bar across a doorway.
i like how you remove sins by disconnect the council XD.
About the Volus, they rely on the turians for protection in exchange for helping them do business. That's probably the reason why they won't allow them on the Council.
1 sin removed you CAN get the Mako through that rocky area its just really hard!
I AM KROGAN!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was actually going to post the same comment about how you can squeeze through the crack but decided meh fuck it.
One of the only channels when a notification comes up I stop everything, get popcorn and drinks and enjoy the ride. Seriously, GCN you are by far the best gamingsins channel on here(IMO). Keep up the amazing work and hope to see ME 2, Andromeda and much more content from your channel.
Despite all the flaws, this game was the height of the series; even better than ME2 and ME3
Fight me.
Wasn't gonna disagree with you in the first place.
GCN my comment was aimed at the people who think ME2 is the greatest bestest Mass Effectest game ever, not you. The only think I really disagree with you on is the Mako, as I feel like with many other flaws with ME1, all was needed was _refinement,_ not outright removal.
IMO this was the pinnacle of Mass Effect storytelling, where ME2 topped gameplay.
The only thing that makes ME 2 better is the fact you were able to romance Garrus IMO. Plus they got rid of the Mako. Otherwise I agree with you.
nah, they've polished gameplay in ME3,, ME2's gameplay feels a little too plebby for the game standards
"tell that to Mandingo"
you sir, need professional help
A thing i never understood: why Anderson mention Shepard's vision during Saren's "Trial"? And why Saren try to defend himself from it? The vision don't have anything to do with Saren at that point (they just think he control the Geth the vision don't prove anything about that, even if the council believed Shepard that would have not incriminated Saren in any way)
PS: Renegade Shepard is best Shepard
46:02 Is not a sin. Saren couldn't just walk into Presidium and get access to the Citadel without interruption from C-Sec.
it's Science Fiction. there is some things that don't need nitpicking.
Around sin 86/87, the decision to give Tali the get data does in fact matter.
It helps Shepard identify himself to Tali in ME2 because this is a conversation between only Shepard and Tali that no one else had knowledge of.
Ea... Well deserved 500 sins :p
48:36
nope, the neutral options means one is a bigger priority, while the others just disregard entirely the council safety.
It's the difference between "we'll do this if we have time" and "nope, not doing this, screw you"
Also locking the relays is something only the reapers can do when they seize the citadel. I believe the Vi on Ilos explains it
Did you like, intentionally make your Shepard look like a 12 year old ginger boy?
Love the channel btw!
Finally. I was waiting for you to sin this game
I'm so happy you made another video cause I subscribed not too long ago
same.
Much appreciated.
You didn't mention how Captain Anderson was voiced by Keith David, aka the Arbiter.
23:08 The moment I heard Armstrong, I thought about FMA's Armstrong just wrecking Geths.
I can very easily see Armstrong busting down a door and trashing Geth
3:05 I see someone's a fan of Vlad the Impaler. XD
CAUSE IT DOESN'T the protheans figured out that problem matter anyway and more importantly it didn't matter anyway because sovereign was stopped C again it doesn't matter anyway because even without mass relays including the citadel the reapers can travel throughout the galaxy all the mass relays do is make it more efficient and HEII this very thing I'm talking about happens im mass effect 3 (btw don't give me that buIIshit about "why didn't they just travel to the milky way without using the citadel?" work F%cking smarter not harder) D technically it's obviously worthless BECAUSE IT'S A GOD DAM VIDEO GAME * cough * I mean mass effect 3 made worthless anyway because of the crucible and E as bonus talk about an honorless douchbag destroying the citadel not only wasting resources BUTANDALSO just a HUGE dick move to delaying the inevitable is probably the most honorless andor douchy thing you could do
hurray, the entire ME trilogy will be analysed! wha'bout Andromeda?
The Krogan that says, "Tell me what I want or I will blast your virtual ass into actual dust." Is the funniest thing in all of Mass Effect.
Wow, you really have done a good job on this one!
deducting a point for "It's a big stupid jellyfish" was the highlight of this video
I miss the ability to farm money from selling loot.
3:11 I can’t believe I missed that reference
Are you going to do Mass Effect 3 again
I loved cutting communications to the council at every turn. So glorious!
Damn and to think that this Mass Effect look as good as Mass Effect: Andromeda.
hahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahaha its funny because it doesnt lol yes the facial animations are better (thats because unreal is a better engine) but everything else is far far worse
Say that when you load up a save and notice how nothing has textures
"Hold The Line" by Toto...Best reference ever!
