Heya Peaugh! I can't remember for sure, but the story around Botcon was the tailfin design was based on one of the designers Grandfathers planes he flew in WW2. I REALLY hope they repaint him in a yellow and brown motif and call him Tailspin :) Thanks for another fun review!
At botcon the hasbro reps mentioned that the pretzel like symbol on his tail fins is supposed to be a kind of homage to a designers grandparent who flew one of these planes in a war years ago. This is only what I can kind of remember and piece together from one of the hasbro botcon panels.
I believe that his alt-mode is a P-52 Mustang. It is the only WW2 plane, and the only plane ever, to be shaped like that. I'm not sure, but I think that because of the design, it was a very agile plane and was hard to down in dog fights.
Another great Review Peaugh! Job well done with this one. Yeah thats odd that they didnt put a autobot or decepticon symbol on him. We will have to wait and see what the vertic is on that note. I like the fact that they decided to make him an old plane from way back when. It really makes him unique and gives him alot more charactor too. All and all, I really like this figure as well and im looking forward to picking up this one when i can.
@RiskoVinsheen Also the cockpit locatio0n seems forced backwards and the landing gear on a P-38 is tricycle in nature with a single forward landing gear wheel as opposed to the dual front wheels on the toy. Very cool toy though. The P-38 is one of my favorite fighter designs and it is nice to see something similar in toy form.
Finally! Suddenly realized where I've seen that face before. He's very close to the way the robots looked in the Doctor Who episode 'Robots of Death'. That's been bugging me for weeks! I really hope we get a yellow w/brown highlights repaint of this guy called Tailspin . I'd buy that in a second!
i actually really like the dual propeller-blade weapons. reminds me of Blackout's weapon, which was never really implemented in the voyager toy. man, i'd love to see a screen-accurate leader-class blackout.....
@blewweyezzme Elite Guard... that does make sense. Like the newer Voyager Class Lugnut, he is a semi-adaptation of his Transformers Animated counterpart, and I believe the Elite Guard figures in there prominently.
Yea, traditionally he is an Autobot, but i wouldn't be surprised if there was a faction change there. It would be awesome, i think, if they incorporated a third faction of some type though. His transformation and especially his head sculpt totally remind me of a crossovers figure. Im really liking this guy.
Nice review. I saw this guy on EntertainmentEarth & was debating on getting it but didnt kno if it was from the HFTD line r what. Will most definately cop it now.
@revetwrot A P-52 Mustang was a single propeller, single tail plane. This is closer to a P-38 Lightning, which did have twin propellers and twin tails connected like that. Only difference from the Lightning (which I'm sure was done for space and licensing) is the fuselage between the propellers. Check out both planes on Wikipedia for pictures.
the symbol on his tail fin that you think is the seeker faction symbol, you're right to think because I think that starscream has the same symbol on his wing.
damn highbrow really followed ironhide to the extreme. according to hasbro its is said that he is a autobot. so he is a good guy, about as old as the fallen.
He's actually a P-38 and the P-10 is a reference to director's father's last name, which starts with the letter P and is unpronounceable by English speakers, because he flew one in WWII. And the symbol is a pretzel and a tarantula.
I was eagerly awaiting this review. He looks like a ww2 p38 or other night fighter. When I saw him I thought he was going to be a deluxe. When I saw he was a voyager, I was kinda surprised. Not necessarily disappointed, but really surprised. The goggles are cool as crap though. The vehicle mode was amazing when I first saw him, but now seeing the arms that's a little disappointing.
its an autobot i saw him in the store and tyhe box sait autobot, plus on the side it said he fought alongside ratchet, the medical specialist of the autobot team :)
@chanelcute not the TV show and not so much the movie either The Hunt for the Decepticons was a continuation of the 2nd movie toyline meaning the two toylines share similar aesthetics and transformation and the new HFTD toyline can use movie characters like the new Battle Blades Prime and Human Aliiance Jazz
@gushers114 faction - -> autobot or decepticon symbol seekers ---> bots which share the same mold or body style...well atleast this is 1 variation of what it means
@carnut015 Yeah that's what I meant by the fuselage being different, the middle of the plane is different with the cockpit being forced back and the front being more flat. (I'm certainly not well versed in aerial phrasing so if fuselage isn't the right word then sorry :P)
I don't know if Hasbro thought of this, but Highbrow could use the propellers on one arm as a shield, just like the Union and AEU units from Mobile Suit Gundam 00.
wow it mite be a unicron symbol or something? that be interesting but his arms are a bit odd but over all he seems like a nice figure, wow this could be a sign of good things to come
The arms kill it for me. I love everything about him, but those weird crooked arms. He looks like he's half transformed. Like those engines should slide out more something so you make the arms straight and have the blades parallel to arms.
i think he has no faction symbol because he is a seeker. neither autobot or decepticon. he's before the time of both from what i understand of movie lore

Love how despite being an old-timey non-Jet engine plane, he has huge gatling guns on each wing that'll blow off his propellors.

Before this we had Ransack that turned into German Albatros D.III biplane from WWI era but this is defenetly first one that turns into WWII era plane.
@aldichwalter its a P-48, was used in japan, was a great plane
@RiskoVinsheen Also the cockpit locatio0n seems forced backwards and the landing gear on a P-38 is tricycle in nature with a single forward landing gear wheel as opposed to the dual front wheels on the toy. Very cool toy though. The P-38 is one of my favorite fighter designs and it is nice to see something similar in toy form.
I've GOT to get my hands on this guy--talk about awesome!
When you were talking about the gun holstering for a minute I thought Hasbro might have seen Warbot's articulation and added it to this guy.
I call him springer cause he looks like springer
Finally!
Suddenly realized where I've seen that face before. He's very close to the way the robots looked in the Doctor Who episode 'Robots of Death'. That's been bugging me for weeks!

he is definetly going to be in my series
Didn't know about this guy, gotta keep an eye out for him...nice
Perhaps he's a bounty hunter.
Pretty cool. Never seen a plane like that.
i actually really like the dual propeller-blade weapons. reminds me of Blackout's weapon, which was never really implemented in the voyager toy. man, i'd love to see a screen-accurate leader-class blackout.....
the head reminds me of the star wars transformers anankin. also i dought its seeker symbol because jetfire still had a decepticon insignia
@blewweyezzme Elite Guard... that does make sense. Like the newer Voyager Class Lugnut, he is a semi-adaptation of his Transformers Animated counterpart, and I believe the Elite Guard figures in there prominently.

He really looks awesome! I wish he would have made his way east. Like Universe Inferno, I never saw him in any stores in my area.

great review dude . you might be on the money about the seekers logo . thats would be cool .
on one site i read this Highbrow was indeed a Decepticon
i love the plane mode... instant buy
the symbol on his tail fin that you think is the seeker faction symbol, you're right to think because I think that starscream has the same symbol on his wing.
damn highbrow really followed ironhide to the extreme. according to hasbro its is said that he is a autobot. so he is a good guy, about as old as the fallen.
yes but imagine, he like the air form of iron hide, sometimes missles help and he has minigun pistols, i foind it intersting
He's actually a P-38 and the P-10 is a reference to director's father's last name, which starts with the letter P and is unpronounceable by English speakers, because he flew one in WWII. And the symbol is a pretzel and a tarantula.

Very cool, I hope for a G1 repaint of him that'd be SWEET!!!!!!
@JacOak Thanks! I will be sure to look for him! I just can't get past this ones arms. Lol.
the other easy way to tell faction is which side of WWII used those aircraft.
i think that is the first air craft mode i have see were you cant see any robot parts
its an autobot i saw him in the store and tyhe box sait autobot, plus on the side it said he fought alongside ratchet, the medical specialist of the autobot team :)
On the poster (from Comic Con), I think it says it's an autobot.
I like the unique alt-mode, but I am not sure if I like the robot mode.
Great review of a cool figure, but i am disappointed that this isn't a classic remake of the G1 Headmaster.
wow, this guy looks awesome in vehicle mode.
@chanelcute not the TV show and not so much the movie either
The Hunt for the Decepticons was a continuation of the 2nd movie toyline meaning the two toylines share similar aesthetics and transformation and the new HFTD toyline can use movie characters like the new Battle Blades Prime and Human Aliiance Jazz
this guy is brilliant!!!
highbrow was an autobot headmaster in g1
First movovie Stormsludge has the same "No faction symbol."
He has to be an Autobot I have never herd of a Decepticon Highbrow. Welk in Energon there was a Mirage as a Decepticon. I do want hin.
Nice review, I llike it! He's based on the P-38 Lightning.
@gushers114 faction - -> autobot or decepticon symbol
seekers ---> bots which share the same mold or body style...well atleast this is 1 variation of what it means
Love the plane mode, but the robot mode is only 'OK'. Wasn't he originally going to be called Lugnuts?
Will be seeking out Terradive first.
@Kevinisprime Yeah your right! It's springer!
looks awesome. whats the expected retail release fo this guy?
@carnut015 Yeah that's what I meant by the fuselage being different, the middle of the plane is different with the cockpit being forced back and the front being more flat. (I'm certainly not well versed in aerial phrasing so if fuselage isn't the right word then sorry :P)
Wow, he's a voyager right? The plane looks cool, the robot mmm so so. Who made this things?
@RiskoVinsheen Correction on my own post and revetwrot's. The Mustang was P-51, not P-52
well there was a gen 1 autobot copter named highbrow, so i guess this would betoo
It's a shame HftD is a line of mostly repaints. The new molds have been AWESOME.
Interesting, considering he came with teradive could they be rivals or allies...
He really comes over as a Star Wars TF to me, curious.
I don't know if Hasbro thought of this, but Highbrow could use the propellers on one arm as a shield, just like the Union and AEU units from Mobile Suit Gundam 00.
argh....
I thought I was off transormers, but this deiselpunk guy has sold the line for me!
I think he's more alike a Fw189 than P-38.
@theprimo100 too bad the fallen stole his GLORIOUS lugnut colours
According to the images on the side of his box, he's an Autobot!
sweet a lightning!
@chanelcute Spin-off of the Transformers 2 line.
@LaBambaMan I agree!
I want that. It's like a P-38 Lightning
wow it mite be a unicron symbol or something? that be interesting
but his arms are a bit odd but over all he seems like a nice figure, wow this could be a sign of good things to come
At 0.24 you say its a P-10; the model is actually a P-38 lightning
1:49 spacekees is a dutch rapper XD
Hey I love the old time look with the WWII plane but i don't like his robot mode. Do you have any suggestions of other older looking vehicles?
are you going to do a vid to show how to put the RC twins together?
he is suppossed to be something resembleing a p-38 lightning
it could just be me but when the goggles were down it reminded me of waspinator
The arms kill it for me. I love everything about him, but those weird crooked arms. He looks like he's half transformed. Like those engines should slide out more something so you make the arms straight and have the blades parallel to arms.
he's got nice battlemask
autobot ? decepticon ?
deluxe ? voyager ?
i think he has no faction symbol because he is a seeker. neither autobot or decepticon. he's before the time of both from what i understand of movie lore
i like his arms
box has description on side he runs side by side with ratche
i think they forgot about the faction placment
wish the blue paint/plastic could be brown or green
hasbro says its an autobot, checxk the site. also he has a battle mask, i thought only bumble bee has one
I think he is a Decepticon.
They Should Repaint This Into The RED BARON!
cool fig not crazzy about gimp arms but still cool
@Andreyax11 Dude were!? I've been looking for him for, like ever sense this video was posted!
you don´t have information about the new MP Rodimus prime?
i call him springer and i don't know why
highbrow is realy a cross between a P-38 Lightning and an XF5U "Flying Pancake"
for thouse who dont know your WW 2 planes
dude thats one sick looking airplane. looks like a p-38 on 'roids
@MegaTaylor1997 Yes
@PancakePrime ur rite he dos
I'm gonna get him.
9:25 XD, that transformers is cool
TFWiki says he IS an Autobot.
Is he Voyager of Deluxe?
what are the best military transformers that are the best?
it's incinerator's little bro! (the arms)
peaugh hes supposed to look like a variation of a P-38 Lightning just fyi other than that great review
His robot mode looks weird to me. i dont know why though
i thought i saw an autobot symbol on the one at botcon/sdcc. oh and his he a small voyager or is terridive a big deluxe?
You can not pose him? In robot mode he just stand straight just like that?
