I think it's great to see more games going back to retro aesthetics but adding modern innovation as well sound modern design. It's pretty much the possible combo of yesteryear and today.
I was shocked when I found Splattercat's video on this, it's so up my alley.
yea, i was really immersed in the writing and depressing narrative beats. The lead up through the last chapter is also super epic.
I played a lot of gold box games back in the day and oh man does playing these games scratched the right itch.

Not to be that guy, but I like to know how to pronounce things and it’s not a common word, so I mean this with the best intentions:
It’s not pronounced like the phrase “a priori”
A “priory” is basically a sort of monastery, and it’s pronounced with the stress on the first syllable: PRAI-ur-ee

Enough talked about it that I heard, and bought it.
I’m just gonna play Dread Delusion first (currently on sale in a bundle with Lunacid, an awesome King’s Field-like, btw) and then give it a go
since the day i tried the demo during one fest I have been waiting for this to drop!
I remember trying the demo, this was the first time a games "retro" aesthetic and limitations got in the way of the actual game. The over-use of dithering, the low-bit color palette, and restricted resolution, made it hard to see what i was even looking at during combat. ITs a shame because it seems the art assets are baked-in at that resolution and dithering, this isn't just some shader applied over the visuals. So its literally unfixable unless they re-do all the game art.
Of course no one is talking about it. Is this video serious or a comedy show? SKALD is a game for gamers who played Ultima. That's it.
Its a magnificant game.

it may be a little tough to see. I actually couldn't get it to work on my ROG Ally due to the mouse being so important.
Just get a cheap windows tablet anything would run this.
