Spencer Carbery got the best he could out of a team that seriously lacked offense for most of the season. The Caps just need the young guys they already have to step it up this season. McMichael is a RFA. Which McMichael are they going to pay for? The one that gives them about 0.3 points per game over his career so far, or the one who shown during the second half of last season he can be a 20-30 goal producer? Caps are making some moves here on guys that have had some down years. PLD and Mangiapane can work out really well for them if carbs can get them going.
Allvin has been doing great work. Every signing has been been around 20% less than what could be had on the open market👌 Zadorov has already made good money in his career so if he wants over 5M per then bye-bye 🖖
Something that I feel like is getting missed with the Guentzel talks is that Carolina can give him 8 years whereas everywhere else can only do 7 years. We have to remember that even if the Canes only pay him something like 7.75 million per year for 8 years, that would be the equivalent of him making 8.8 million per year on a 7 year deal somewhere else. So Carolina might seem like they are lowballing if they offer him under 8 million, but if they are offering him the full 8 year term it kind of evens out. Hopefully they can get him locked up.
Jake Guentzel has played alongside one of the best hockey players in the world since the beginning of his NHL career. Not taking anything away from him, but could he be a little overvalued thanks to who he's played with? Does he hit 40 goals again without Crosby feeding him sick passes?
This gives Calgary close to 30M in cap space. There is a lot you can do with that especially with 1 or 2 year deals with older vets. I hope they try to out together a monster team for 1 or 2 years
As a Hurricanes fan, I'm worried what the Guentzel deal will mean for us retaining other players and what it would mean for us long term, because he's not going to be worth it the full 8 years like some alternatives (Necas) for that deal would. And Guentzel alone doesn't replace the players we'd lose to make that work
Jake is getting 3.5 and playing in Toronto. Like who isn’t going to want to play there in a couple years with Draisaitl and McDavid, Matthews, Tavares? Talk about center depth!
The Guentzel contract will be worth it in 2 trades and at least one retention but whoever signs him this season is set for a rebuild after the gamble. Looking at you Utah.
all we know is that on july 1st, UFA's will secure the bag and NHL GM's will have buyers remorse in 12 to 24 months. My most wild prediction is Patrick Kane getting 9M per year for 5 years with Detroit.
I think Guentzel gets maybe 8-9 million. He's a point a game player even without Crosby as he proved with Carolina. A 2 time 40 goal scorer. He lacks defensive awareness though. But the offense makes up for that. Just put him with a good defensive center like Crosby or Aho.
I loved Jake during his time with the Pens but holy cow he's not a $10M/year player. I think the max he could get is $8.5M but I don't know who pulls a trigger on a deal like that. Maybe he heads to Seattle?
Calgary has been dumping players ever since losing that high scoring series against the Edmonton Oilers. They were a decent team back then. I’m a bit frustrated over the way they’ve been treating the players from back then.
I can absolutely see Guentzel hitting $10 million per, especially if he accepts a shorter term. How many wingers in the league would you put ahead of him? Three or four? How many of them are free agents on Monday? Figure he's staying in Carolina, but he can afford to go wherever he wants. A few teams are big game hunting, and he's the top prize.
Jake is worth 10 million on the right team like Coyotes ,I mean Utah, great young team, lots of Cap space building for future, six solid years let ,win-win!
Guentzel gets 500 yr and three trillion from Espoon Pallo Sadosts. My local team. Another sport all together but who would not sign to a 500 year deal?
I'm sure alot of Shitsburg fans would agree with me in that Guentzel should have stayed a Pen, but I get that Jake might not have wanted to be a part of a sinking ship.
We can't pay big Z $5mil for being a number 4-6th dman. The problem is that you can't play him too high up for too long because then he's prone to making mental mistakes. I think $4.5-4.75mil times four years is decent for big Z. Maybe someone will randomly pay him $5-6mil/season on July 1st...
Don’t see the Canes going anywhere near $10M for Jake. I hear $7.75M x 8 years is their offer. He seemed to really like playing with Aho, but if someone is silly enough to offer $10M, Jake should probably take it.
0:32 Honestly, this is my least favourite move the Canucks have made in their flurry of activity this week. Having said that, it's not brutal. If Jake wants to get paid, he won't be wearing a Canucks uniform in the fall. And that's not to say I'm calling him greedy. I'm just saying, it seems almost everyone in a position to re-sign in Vancouver has left a little bit of money on the table.
I liked Mang. I just thank God that godforsaken Markstrom is gone. I would've traded him to Siberia for used jock straps after that Oilers series a couple of years ago but that's just me.
That's why I can't get invested into the NHL so much - not even 2 or 3 years gone and all of your favourite players from a team are already scattered all around the continent. There's so much movement going on you've got no chance to grow attached to a team the same way as in, say football (vel 'soccer'). At least if you don't have a club in your area :)

Caps are making some moves here on guys that have had some down years. PLD and Mangiapane can work out really well for them if carbs can get them going.
probably around 8.5M/6years
Allvin has been doing great work. Every signing has been been around 20% less than what could be had on the open market👌 Zadorov has already made good money in his career so if he wants over 5M per then bye-bye 🖖
Shannon is wearing Caps colors and I get to root for my favorite name in sports for at least one season. Today's okay.
As a kraken fan, I still have a small grudge on Mangiapane because of his cross-check on McCann and the 1 game suspension that the DoPS gave him.
Sweet jersey. Can’t believe the Capitals dealt Forsberg 😖 coulda had another Cup maybe…
The talent the Flames have traded away in the past 3 years is stunning.
The NHL now has it's own "G-league", and Calgary is the posterchild.
Does he draw out the logos for each video? they look really good
Magnets
With raised team caps on the horizon, I fear GMs could go nuts in free agency. That 10 mil for Guenzel might not be far off.
I subscribed today because I appreciate your passion for this wonderful game 🏒 Thanks for your efforts to keep us updated!
Jake Guentzel has played alongside one of the best hockey players in the world since the beginning of his NHL career. Not taking anything away from him, but could he be a little overvalued thanks to who he's played with? Does he hit 40 goals again without Crosby feeding him sick passes?
Watch Seattle give Guentzel like 9.3M+ on a 7 year deal July 1st. YHIHF
You buy them for the now not the later I heard that somewhere …
So I guess the Caps management believes they have no chance of landing a big FA.
This gives Calgary close to 30M in cap space. There is a lot you can do with that especially with 1 or 2 year deals with older vets. I hope they try to out together a monster team for 1 or 2 years
They should look at 1 and 2 year deals on players and try to flip them for picks at trade deadline.
Guentzel is a really good player can score you some goals but if I were a GM I wouldn't give more than 7mil/yr
all we know is that on july 1st, UFA's will secure the bag and NHL GM's will have buyers remorse in 12 to 24 months.
I'm really glad they got Myers, 3x3 is perfectly fine exactly what I was expecting
calgary’s been rebuilding since they traded zadorov to vancouver early this past season
Respectfully, at this price I think the Myers singing indicates that zadorov will stay.
Steal for the Caps. A 2nd round pick is cheap.
He's actually 34, so to me his final year would be the only question mark for me.
I loved Jake during his time with the Pens but holy cow he's not a $10M/year player. I think the max he could get is $8.5M but I don't know who pulls a trigger on a deal like that. Maybe he heads to Seattle?
3 million is too much to pay a 3rd pairing guy, even someone you're familiar with and like.
Only way he gets 10M is if he takes a 3 or 4 year deal. I doubt he’s gonna do that though. Some sucker will pay 6 or 7 year term. Maybe Seattle 😝
Guentzel should not make more than 8, maybe 8.5
Give Guentzel 7.8 or something per year it feels more than fair.
"Cup winners are usually made up of really good players" but no stars. GMs take note of this.
Guentzel 7x9
Jake is worth 10 million on the right team like Coyotes ,I mean Utah, great young team, lots of Cap space building for future, six solid years let ,win-win!
Flames gonna overpay Debrusk
He’d look good in a Flames jersey, but how much you think he gets from Calgary?
He gets 8.5 to 9.
Guentzel gets 500 yr and three trillion from Espoon Pallo Sadosts. My local team. Another sport all together but who would not sign to a 500 year deal?
Calgary needs to be honest with their fans and tell the plan. Not this "retooling"
Chicago should give guenzel 15mil for 2 years
I'm sure alot of Shitsburg fans would agree with me in that Guentzel should have stayed a Pen, but I get that Jake might not have wanted to be a part of a sinking ship.
Washington Capitals rebuild will be the most brutal rebuild since GM Ken Holland left the Red Wings.
Hershey has so much talent being developed. What are you talking about? Lol
Don’t see the Canes going anywhere near $10M for Jake. I hear $7.75M x 8 years is their offer. He seemed to really like playing with Aho, but if someone is silly enough to offer $10M, Jake should probably take it.
Guentzel is good but hes realistically a 70-80point guy, If you pay more than 9million its not worth it.
Now Kadri back to the Leafs . JH and a 1st to Utah for a water bottle.
Not a Canucks fan but 3mill for Myers is a sick deal
He's only had a single season where he hasn't looked like a giraffe on skates.
He lives in Kelowna. Apparently, has a sick kid, wanted to stay for that.
@@bryanbest5113 people tend to underestimate the human aspect when thinking FA/the nhl in général
rangers PLEASE do not sign Guentzel for more than 9mil. we dont need the scoring that much
I liked Mang.
10M
I like Jake, but he isnt a 10 million player. If he goes to a team without a big name 1C, i fear he could become Huberdeau 2.0
Its good to see Calgary begin to tear it all down. Just clean house. Teams a total disaster and hasnt done anything exciting in 2 decades.
3M for a 3rd pairing dman is wild and the 3 year term is a yikes. i could see 1 year at 3m but 3x3?
Cap is going up next several seasons and 3 mil will be normal in year 2 and cheap in year 3.
He falls down alot
