The Meteor Gun is controversial because it becomes a more mundane weapon from something that was quite interesting, but as a replacement for the Heavy Lancer, it's exceptional.
@@jaotrx7163 It's not the damage that's mundane, it's more the delivery. The Lava gun was like a more interesting flamethrower, throwing a stream of damaging liquid like a rope. But the Meteor Gun just shoots heavy shorter-ranged shots.

N60 is fun but it does dicks for damage. Bouncer shoulda been a bit higher but I get why he put it there. There are just some cheaper weapons that do similar if not better damage like the Shock Cannon and Bomb Glove.

Found your channel randomly, so far I was blown away by how crazy the R&C speedruns have been!! I'll admit at first when I was watching this video I was a little skeptical about certain placements but with the explanations given and category comparisons it definitely started to make more sense. Kinda made me a little bit sad seeing the Blitz Cannon so low but I do understand why now. I definitely agree that the RY3NO would've been sooooo much better without the RYNOCIRATOR existing. Even casually it kinda bummed me out.
I know people really wanted to keep bumping up the Heavy Bouncer higher, even personally I love it, but with all categories considered I think its placement made sense! I think it kind of downgraded in UYA anyway.
Can't believe noone mentioned the mine glove + taunter combo. The taunter causes the mines' aggro range to increase MASSIVELY, turning them from a passive defensive weapon into an active one. Also those mines deal a shitton of damage. All it asks for is a bit of set-up, and after triggering them you can run to safety, so you gotta factor that aswell.

I can guarantee this will be one of your most vieweved videos. Rankings really get the attention from the general public and TH-cam algorithm. I can also say right off the bat, I think you should've have ranked weapon based on their style too. I mean, sure the Liquid Nitrogen gun isn't the most effective, but who cares? Those are the type of weapons that make R&C what it was for me, these whack unthinkable designs that would require great fantasy and maybe a decent dose of hallucinogens to come up with. Sure, a generic flamethrower/grenade launcher/bazooka will work better most of the times, but do they have the same fun factor?

@@matone1z Yeah but the lava gun had crowd control, and the ability to easily clear or dissuade trash. The meteor gun throws that out the window for high single target dps.
I want to make 2 points of arguments. Ryno 1, remember the first time you were able to buy it when you were a child. That feeling of power. The hover bots, think of the first time you finally had the little rebots out, the force fields around you, holding a golden devastater with the jet pack, and helmet, and all gadgets. The feeling of being a badass with everything out.
On the PS2 when I was little I found a glitch that made the RHINO II 3 shot the end boss. I honestly forgot what I did, but that memory will be stuck in my brain.
Just a casual slipping through to say the decoy glove is awesome even casually, because of it grouping up enemies, or for drawing fire on the more ridiculous sections.
As one of said casual ratchet players, (though I did learn the oob exploit for an easy ryno in the first game) I like that you gave examples for placements that use speedrun strats.
As a RAC casual only player who knows nothing about the speed running world. I expected the shock cannon to be pretty high because even for a casual player the sweep is insane.
I've had time off of work and been grinding the trilogy on ps4, really enjoying these videos from a casual player point of view. I didn't know ANYTHING about the basics even like clipping so this was super informative. EDIT: and then you bust out the Alex Ich reference? easiest and quickest sub of my life.
I gotta say, my rankings, being ENTIRELY a casual player, would have been different going in, but you gave such good reasoning for every placement that I don't even really know if I can argue against any of them. Though I do think the Tesla Claw and Visibomb Gun are getting unfairly punished for just being unfortunate enough to have been put into Going Commando.
Xem is downplaying the Infector so much. A V1 can still brainwash large tough enemies just for shorter duration than the higher V’s. The V5 Infectobomb becomes such a monster that infects a massive radius with each shot along with doing a mini nuke explosion on impact that does the same damage as the V5 nitro eruptor. It’s so underutilized. If used with the agents of doom and the mini-turrets, you can let a battle ensue without having to even lift a finger lol and the infection-bombnhelps with dealing with bosses that spawned with multiple backup enemies. It also becomes a godsend when doing the Quarktastic challenge when you have to save ammo.
Please add the deadlocked weapons to this list. I beg you. (Just so I can see the B6 Obliterator in trash tier and hear your opinion on the Harbinger, Quasar Turrets, Fusion Rifle, and Flail)

You can just use the hunter mine launcher (even the flail tbh) to do the same job as the B6, and the hunter mine is more versatile as you can use it for setup, it literally does more damage too. The B6 deals 60 damage at level 1 and the hunter mine does 120. The B11 does 750 damage at level 10, and the stalker mine does 500 at level 10... except the stalker blows up three times. Not to mention the flail does 1550 damage at level 10 with more ammo and attack speed and a comparable area. The B6 is outclassed, and compared to the flail and mine launcher, its bad.
My own personal experience? This gun can hit things OUTSIDE OF YOUR OWN VISION. That fact alone is terrifying. But it can also hit targets WAY farther than you ever expect it too. This gun makes me feel safe.

You have to farm manually but its worth it if you don't want to burn your console and also due to that in PS4/5 the old Rac games are only playable via cloud you can't tape your controler cause the game will close it self due to inactivity. So the taunter has lost its use in casual play

I think you should do this a little differently: Imagine you can play the game with just ONE weapon. Which order would you choose for them? The blaster is probably the best option other than the RYNO in R&C1.
well yeah we knew that, it's just not really a factor tbh. thankfully with uya there's so many spots where the game gives you a full ammo refresh anyway (for example every time you enter a ranger dropship)

I think it's totally fine as long as people have well-constructed arguments. I'm not infallible or perfect, so while I have much more experience than the average person, I'm also open to being criticized and challenged on my stances. I also don't have the best perspective on casual stuff (for obvious reasons), so I appreciate when people remind me that their experiences were different!

Unpopular opinion, the Chopper is not that bad, it's an alright DPS weapon and does very decently against certain bosses, I think it's at least high D tier.
There's a reason the upgraded Hoverbomb is more expensive than the Ryno II ;) Also the Disc gun from RaC 3 is so underrated imo. Sure, not used in speedruns, but I think it's one of the best guns casually. Same thing about the mine glove in RaC 1. From my filthy casual perspective that thing is basically a bomb glove with the added perk of homing in on enemies.
100% agree about the Bouncer. It's a great BACK-UP plan, but it should never be a first choice. With a poison upgrade in RAC2 it can be quite entertaining! Especially against the Proto-Pet.
I love Zem pointing out almost everything that makes the Zodiac less than it could be and is still like "BUT!" Everything the Zodiac CAN do, another weapon can do better, more powerfully, more quickly, more effeciently or in a manner that's just more fun (as far as fun fits most peoples' definitions, anyway.) If we assume C tier is for weapons that are just average, not good, not bad, just okay, then all of the Zodiac's good qualities add up to it belonging at a high C at best.
I remember as a child how disappointed I was in the Clank Zapper. 1,000,000 bolts AND being challenge mode exclusive made the obvious implication that this weapon was going to be the shit. But it turned out to be by far the most useless weapon in the game. Even if it was free I'd feel ripped off. God only knows what Insomniac was thinking when they created this god-awful weapon, lol.
I remember just farming nonstop to get that as a kid (the impossible challenge was too hard for 5 year old me) and when I first got it I bought it and killed a yeti in one hit that had gotten hurt by my shield a bunch already, so I thought wow it's just a one use 1 shot kill weapon. I was wrong haha
The liguid nitrogen gone does some pretty nuts damage against arena bosses in uya. It really helped me get through the qwarktastic challenge. I'd put it A tier personally.
You mentioned that the Shock Cannon is useful in every situation. I think that applies to everything in SS except for the Tetrabomb Gun, which is only useful for bosses primarily from the sound of it.
While I think the spider-bot glove is pretty decent, being able to kill megacorp troopers with one hit, it's the upgraded form that I really love, just spamming its rockets does awesome damage, sure it's not great for speedruns, but my reflexes suck, so I only ever casual the game anyway. At least once a year I'll 100% the three originals, Gladiator (britain), Tools, Quest, Crack, and the Remake, so I'll get and upgrade all weapons, including challenge mode stuff, and all the skill points, except in Gladiator, just too many in that. I still don't have a ps5 to play Rift Apart. But yeah, I absolutely love the Flux/Splitter rifle, it goes through multiple enemies and EXPLODES with every enemy it hits, it is a Sniper that Mister Torgue himself would be proud to own.
Dude I was way too much interested in this video than I should have, this was super fun and sick. I really hope you will add deadlocked to the tier list too because it's my favorite of the quadrilogy. If you would like to I can already say my arguments why I believe the stalker mine launcher, the scorpion flail and the omnishield launcher are the top 3 weapons of the game. If you plan to do this for deadlocked too then when will you do it on twitch? I really want to be there this time. Btw I think you should make more criteria for the weapons in general like range, ground cover, how long it leaves you open, etc...
I really don't get the N90 hate train bandwagon. It's such a reliable weapon that you can always whip out even in the most dire of situations through casual play, and in multiplayer its 3 kills upgrade is the best middle range combat tool… like, my man, please give it the credit it deserves Also the infect-o-bomb is the only gun that doesn't functionally need to be upgraded to v8 to be powerful in casual NG+
Im glad someone agrees about the bouncer. Im only a casual player, but i usually dont even buy it unless im going for 100%. The mini nuke does everything it does, better, without lagging the game and dealing with the rng of the mini bombs. Its cool, but thats all it is imo.
The Annihilator/Decimator is so good and It gets so much unwarranted hate because it’s expensive. It’s better than the bouncer by leaps and bounds. It has quadruple the DPS.
In every tierlist video, i see the aniliator from RC3 at A-B tier. I've just finish the game ones again and the more it deserve is C-D tier. Exept the 3 next planet from purchase, it deal 0 damage. Even at rank 5 you need 6 to 7 ammos to kill a big monster. Same thing for the grenade laucher, on the last level you need 7 ammo on 8 available to kill middle size foes, this weapon deserve a D-E-F. Plasma is just brocken, 100% agree to S-SS tier. Edit : happy that you rerank the rocket laucher at C tier at the end of the video :)

yeah, with lock on and acid it's actually really powerful, especially since its ammo costs the same as the heavy lancer
Lock on + acid = most cost effective way to kill the YETI enemies. 3-4 shots are enough.

I think the Pyrocitor is really good casually as well. It's just an insane crowd clearer and absolutely trumps close range enemies
Its very useful for the grind rails as well, the pyrocitor gets them without having to time it like the wrench or jumping

B6 doesn't have alot of ammo but it's solid. Far from trash. Did you try it out with mods?

I think the shock cannon didn't get enough attention. Weaving, high ammo, usage in canceling charges. It has to be top three imo.

I think it's totally fine as long as people have well-constructed arguments. I'm not infallible or perfect, so while I have much more experience than the average person, I'm also open to being criticized and challenged on my stances. I also don't have the best perspective on casual stuff (for obvious reasons), so I appreciate when people remind me that their experiences were different!

The shock cannon is low key awesome, but the beam function uses a lot of ammo so I never used it that much.
Unpopular opinion, the Chopper is not that bad, it's an alright DPS weapon and does very decently against certain bosses, I think it's at least high D tier.
There's a reason the upgraded Hoverbomb is more expensive than the Ryno II ;) Also the Disc gun from RaC 3 is so underrated imo. Sure, not used in speedruns, but I think it's one of the best guns casually. Same thing about the mine glove in RaC 1. From my filthy casual perspective that thing is basically a bomb glove with the added perk of homing in on enemies.
+ the trap / area denial utility.
If nothing else at least for the fun of it.
100% agree about the Bouncer. It's a great BACK-UP plan, but it should never be a first choice. With a poison upgrade in RAC2 it can be quite entertaining! Especially against the Proto-Pet.

Everything the Zodiac CAN do, another weapon can do better, more powerfully, more quickly, more effeciently or in a manner that's just more fun (as far as fun fits most peoples' definitions, anyway.) If we assume C tier is for weapons that are just average, not good, not bad, just okay, then all of the Zodiac's good qualities add up to it belonging at a high C at best.
I remember as a child how disappointed I was in the Clank Zapper. 1,000,000 bolts AND being challenge mode exclusive made the obvious implication that this weapon was going to be the shit. But it turned out to be by far the most useless weapon in the game. Even if it was free I'd feel ripped off. God only knows what Insomniac was thinking when they created this god-awful weapon, lol.
I remember just farming nonstop to get that as a kid (the impossible challenge was too hard for 5 year old me) and when I first got it I bought it and killed a yeti in one hit that had gotten hurt by my shield a bunch already, so I thought wow it's just a one use 1 shot kill weapon. I was wrong haha

The liguid nitrogen gone does some pretty nuts damage against arena bosses in uya. It really helped me get through the qwarktastic challenge. I'd put it A tier personally.
I threw up bile this morning and that still felt better than hearing him not only trash the bouncer but also trash us for having high opinions of it

You mentioned that the Shock Cannon is useful in every situation. I think that applies to everything in SS except for the Tetrabomb Gun, which is only useful for bosses primarily from the sound of it.
While I think the spider-bot glove is pretty decent, being able to kill megacorp troopers with one hit, it's the upgraded form that I really love, just spamming its rockets does awesome damage, sure it's not great for speedruns, but my reflexes suck, so I only ever casual the game anyway.
At least once a year I'll 100% the three originals, Gladiator (britain), Tools, Quest, Crack, and the Remake, so I'll get and upgrade all weapons, including challenge mode stuff, and all the skill points, except in Gladiator, just too many in that. I still don't have a ps5 to play Rift Apart.
But yeah, I absolutely love the Flux/Splitter rifle, it goes through multiple enemies and EXPLODES with every enemy it hits, it is a Sniper that Mister Torgue himself would be proud to own.
Dude I was way too much interested in this video than I should have, this was super fun and sick. I really hope you will add deadlocked to the tier list too because it's my favorite of the quadrilogy. If you would like to I can already say my arguments why I believe the stalker mine launcher, the scorpion flail and the omnishield launcher are the top 3 weapons of the game. If you plan to do this for deadlocked too then when will you do it on twitch? I really want to be there this time.
Btw I think you should make more criteria for the weapons in general like range, ground cover, how long it leaves you open, etc...

I really don't get the N90 hate train bandwagon. It's such a reliable weapon that you can always whip out even in the most dire of situations through casual play, and in multiplayer its 3 kills upgrade is the best middle range combat tool… like, my man, please give it the credit it deserves
Also the infect-o-bomb is the only gun that doesn't functionally need to be upgraded to v8 to be powerful in casual NG+

Im glad someone agrees about the bouncer. Im only a casual player, but i usually dont even buy it unless im going for 100%. The mini nuke does everything it does, better, without lagging the game and dealing with the rng of the mini bombs. Its cool, but thats all it is imo.

The Annihilator/Decimator is so good and It gets so much unwarranted hate because it’s expensive. It’s better than the bouncer by leaps and bounds. It has quadruple the DPS.

In every tierlist video, i see the aniliator from RC3 at A-B tier. I've just finish the game ones again and the more it deserve is C-D tier. Exept the 3 next planet from purchase, it deal 0 damage. Even at rank 5 you need 6 to 7 ammos to kill a big monster.
Same thing for the grenade laucher, on the last level you need 7 ammo on 8 available to kill middle size foes, this weapon deserve a D-E-F.
Plasma is just brocken, 100% agree to S-SS tier.
