Nice video series idea, did not know you could use the turrets or about the last guy! For further videos you could start with a more clear explanation to us casuals whit what the game expects you to do. e.g. trough the trophy description: "Kill all enemies with a wrench and without dying on Planet Joba." It's self explanatory to you but maybe not to all viewers :) That way your explanations on the inconsistancies with the expected are more impactful imo.

@@Kalmaro4152 Yeah this is quite easy if you grind your way to the carbonox armor hyper strike everyone in your way plus turrets. The issue is... Well these games are kinda coded with bubblegum, tape and children hope and dreams.
But he didn't do any speedrunning strats at all. All the strategies he used are very common: let enemies hit themselves, steal their turrets, make use of a nanotech boost if you have one. A casual player would usually think of all that. The only ones that are not very casual are the strategy of grabbing the nanotech, because most people would grab it immediately instead of waiting (unless they don't know how to get to it) and remembering the hiding spots of enemies (and to be fair, I already knew the position of all the enemies after a few attempts at the skill point)
Im pretty sure the reason the enemies seem to act weird when you're in a turret is theyre programmed to go somewhere specific to hide from turret fire, so if you're not fast enough they essentially just hide out until you leave the turret.
It makes me smile.seeing such a big runner runner in the Ratchet and Clank speed running community doing things like this to help casual fans like myself out with stuff like this. I really appreciate it
To be honest with you, these types of videos might actually be my favorite, I love seeing R&C tutorials (especially of the first 4 games) that teach you about how this game works on a deeper than surface level stuff, whether I know how to do this or not, the original games are so fascinating in how they work, they might be really fun casually, but they're even more interesting once you know them from the inside out.
This is the shit I live for no joke. My autistic brain loves the living shit out of deep dives into a specific skill point in my favourite game from like 20 years ago. I love you.
Thank you for the insight! That swingshot is in fact evil. It was visually demonstrated but I think it's worth noting that the green laser shooter's melee retaliation also fires at you.
I remember the GDQ hotfix, when you show this particular skill point that you tried like 3-4 times and at the same time explaining this weird mystery. And now this is not a mystery anymore congratulations !
Because of the skill point description there were a lot of assumptions I made about how to tackle the challenge, and this video helped to clarify what tools I actually had available to me to prevent from further banging my head against this brick wall. Thank you very much.
Earlier this year I was searching everywhere for a video like this. After all these years I was still very curious about why the game seemed so stubborn at giving out the skill point. Thank you for this!
I know this is a slightly old video but THANK YOU!!!! I just platinumed this game because of you haha I played this part A LOT and didn’t know the very last enemy was the one causing me not to get the skill point. THANK YOU ZEM!
Thank you so much for clarifying all of this information. Years ago, I tried getting the platinum trophy for this game. This was the last skill point I had to earn, but the game just wouldn’t give it to me after countless tries. My friend told me I had to wipe the game data from my PS3 and start from scratch (which fixed the skill point glitch), but what you’ve said in this video helps a lot
This is one the the best videos I've seen on here. Really engaging throughout and informative too. Didn't even realise this video was almost 20 mins long!
I never realized this skill point was so challenging for others… I got this without using the turrets or friendly fire. I just waited until I got the last upgrade on the wrench and it made this a breeze. Props to this guy for taking the time to help the R&C community! 🤘🏼I know this comment is way late lol, this video randomly showed up in my feed and I had no idea the struggle people had with this
It’s only challenging because a lot of people tend to forget about this skill point in up until doing ng+ which makes it ten times worse than it normally is. If you have last two armours before the carbon one on your first play through then it’s practically a breeze. But if you still have those equiped within ng+, enemies on this level can take you out within a few hits just by melee or maybe when 3 shots by the turrets/guns. I made this same mistake when revisiting this game so I had to grind for the carbon armour
I'm playing through the R&C games right now going for 100%. The last guy was the one causing me to fail. I did exactly what you did and got the achievement. Thank you so much! :)

I really wish this video existed when I tried to get that skillpoint
Hey, good video my guy. I like that you were quick and concise on all your explanations, while adding in a good amount of humor. There is one more thing to note about the skill point: if you're doing this in NG+, you cannot use the first person mode, or else you can no longer gain the skill point. I spent way too long trying it out with FPM, not my happiest moment 😅
Thank you so much for sharing more information about this skill point I actually didn't know the Turret was allowed and didn't know the game would've denied the skill point if you kill the dudes while they're far behind that last door. I was actually trying to achieve it with only 4 nanotechs health bars without any armor too. The last part was the hardest one for me, hate that part a lot because of the 2 turrets spammer and the snipers. The snipers are by far the most dangerous enemies for my run, they're the only one killing me in one hit and it's pretty scary dealing with them, especially while doing that skill point
By watching this, a memory unlocked in my head. I did this on the remaster for PS3 back 4 or 5 years ago. This skill point was obviously driving me mad and was the last thing I needed for the platinum. I remember watching a similar guide back then to get it done. Well explained and done, you make it look effortless.
never knew people were having issues with this skill point, never had any problems with my PAL copy when i was going for it, only thing new i learned from this was that those button doors are breakable, i would always push the buttons, never thought to shoot them.
I've personally never had an issue with this Skill Point but I love R&C so here I am. Plus, I was just curious about what these tips would be. I like learning new things about my favourite games. 👀
bro thank you very much, you helped me make this trophy in 5 minutes and I struggled with it for 2 days, I've been playing on PS4 through a streaming game and mentally I couldn't cope anymore, your video helped me a lot, thank you for making such a guide, the trophy is somehow broken because normally it doesn't work it works and it only works the way you did it, thank you very much once again, may your life be good and may God always take care of you. god bless yoou ily
Hehe that’s funny. I recently came back to the game and while trying to get that Skill point I crashed my game at the turret that you said could warp me to the end of the level.
Thank god you made this video, I was first following someone else's video while they just brute forced it doing it with wrench only and not utilizing turrets, thanks so much for this!
This Skill Point is pretty easy typically. Now wanna talk about pain, let's talk about "Be a Moon Child". Grelbin is an Arctic hell I never want to go back to. Or saving the tourists. Honestly the one that takes the cake is "B2 or Not B2 Hit" if you try to get it on your first run through of Maktar. However I did fine a bug with the skill point. In the tag team fight with Chainblade and the Brawler, when B2 jumps into the arena after defeating Chainblade, that technically counts as fighting him "Fresh" even if you where hit by him previously in the fight. So all you have to do is kill him when he's at low health.
Be a Moonchild... Just save it up for late Game, when you got the Ryno and Charge Boots and Mapper. B2 or not B2 hit... Wait for the last Omniwrench Upgrade and then do it
I think the fact that you can't fire a weapon at all (even if it misses) is why they allowed turret kills, as you're forced to use them to open doors in order to progress/kill everyone. Amazing video though dude
You technically don't need to use the turrets to open the doors, since there are buttons all around the map that open the doors for you. The turret is certainly the most useful way to do it, though! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Honestly i think we should get more guides for games well over 10 years old. Would be really nice to have a lot of those old videos updated with new info, exactly like this!
Not on this Rac but in Uya for the comic skill points the 5th one where you escape, I spent like an hour trying to get it. That's what actually got me into looking into speed running uya. It also led me to your channel
Still took me 5 bloody attempts to get it right. So fully sure what i did different the 5th time, aside from an enemy not falling after the floor dissappeared during the Dynamo section. Truly thank you for this man, i can finally rest at last and start focusing on the other Skill Points.
I think my favourite thing about watching Xem is just how much he clearly, genuinely loves these games. Its just nice to see, especially since I wholeheartedly agree.
Wow this guide makes it like 100 times easier, thank you so much! Whenever I played this I struggled with everything you were talking about, dying and just trying again and it didn’t work, missing the swing shot node, not knowing you could use the turrets, not taking advantage of the nanotech, pretty much everything 😂 using the charge boots a lot and taking advantage of friendly fire is also genius
Got recommended this after completing Going Commando 100% for the first time for the Plat. Entertaining vid and will def look at ur speedruns once I beat each of the games for myself.
For the longest time I thought the skill point was arena based since Wrench Ninja 1 was in the first arena. Needless to say, I was very dumbfounded when I defeated Megapede with only the wrench and did not get the skill point.
Xem, I've always been a massive proponent of your Zeldrin "Chickens", but now you've gone and added the Joba/Barlow "Dogs" to my list of actual canon enemy names in RaC.
Haha, thanks dude. I was running this on repeat and that last detail about the guy running forward is what was getting me. I was knocking him off the edge. haha
Great video, but in the future you should also tell what the skill point requires at the start, something in the lines of "For those of you who don't know, Wrench ninja 2 require you to kill every single enemy on the main path with only your wrench". It took me 3 minutes to remember what the SP is.
“If you’re like me, you’ve played these games a bunch…” Yeah, I can relate 😉 “…probably dozens of times” *Those are rookie numbers! Get those numbers up!* ⬆️
Great video! For me one of the most annoying skillpoints in the ratchet series was "Fast and Fiery-ous" in ToD. Seemed like easy one, but I spend an hour dying on that damn bridge. Got it by luck when the game decided to bug out and gift it to me for no reason.
Definitely interested in hearing more about how the last guy not walking forward invalidates the skill point. And here I did this SP the "hard" way as a kid, killing every single enemy with a wrench (though I imagine there was friendly fire too). Though I honestly don't remember it being much of a hassle. I probably did it on a NG+ with a ton of health and the best wrench though.
I’m really enjoying these types of videos. Thanks for this xem! And thanks to your editor too! Also, I freaking knew this was the skill point you were referring to haha
This skill point was a doozy, but at the same time, It was still easy. I would recommend having the electrosteel or carbonox armor equipped before doing the skill point.
I only recently gotten this skill point after years of having that game. I couldn't believe my eyes when I finally entered the museum. Man, I hated this skill point so much.
Great vid. I always found that the most important thing was to clear the main path before killing the enemies in the area with the platinum bolt. The game just refused to give me the skill point otherwise.
Omg i never understood this skillpoint, it always seemed so random. Also, i've gotten this skillpoint multiple times by killing the penultimum enemy, not the last one, which was one of the main reasons as to why it seems to random
To be completely honest, I'm not 100% sure if people are gonna be searching how to do this skillpoint this far beyond the lifespan of Ratchet 2 anyway, so I'm willing to make this a bit clickbaity for the sake of getting people's attention in the first place
Neat video breakdown of what was indeed the most inconsistent Skill Point in the franchise *, although you missed a golden opportunity at 7:21 to say that you were "going commando". *it's nice to see friendly fire as confirmed to not be a detriment, as I've experienced myself many times, though I was more wary of enemies falling off cliffs and I never tried firing with the turrets myself for fear of losing my chance; also, I swear I had a hunch about the last enemy, since I once gotten the Skill Point after killing everything and simply walking out of that last room, so it's quite nice to see what the trigger is a bit more precisely, in that regard.
At least in the NTSC versions for both PS2 and PS3, this isn't a wonky skill point in normal playthroughs. A player can just come back with the best wrench and armor and sweep up without issue.
Hey Xem I know this is a late comment, but I really hope you make more of these videos and I wanted to suggest a few ideas, i think the best ones are ones that casual fans can implement that arent too difficult, such as killing the Thug Leader mech boss at the Snivelak HQ quickly. That way a casual player can learn it to use when they replay the game if they dont wanna play that boss. Another idea I think would be really important that you have the power to show lots of rac fans is the best way to farm bolts in the games (such as using the Nuke in the Gorn mission repeatedly), and also videos discussing interesting properties of the weapons in ratchet and clank that people dont know they can use to exploit! Even though everyone who watches rac3 speedruns has seen it, not everyone knows exactly how powerful it is. Other examples include the Meteor gun with lock on mod defying the laws of gravity and physics and making it impossible to miss shots with it. Highest damage per second guns (like the tetrabomb perhaps?), etc. Sorry was a long comment but I'm excited to see more!
Now I finally know that the last guy was the problem. I was starting to think that using the chargeboots might have triggered the flag or something. Glad I don’t have to play it safe and walk all the way anymore, thank you!
This skill point was the thing that held me back to getting 30 out of 30 for 6 months. I honestly think the game just gave it to me rather than me earning it. Feels like S ranking in sonic unleashed.
How didnt I find you sooner? I've been playing RaC since 2004.. I was 4 years old. good times ! I recently got the trilogy on ps3 and i've almost 100% run them all. best game series :)
This is the last trophy I need for R&C2 for the ps3 platinum (Played on ps2 too, but wasn't as much of an issue due to no trophies) Been grinding my brain for a long time might give it another go since you uploaded this
Update: I had spare time today and got the confidence to boot up the game again. I went to an old save just before the planet, did a run and got the trophy so got my plat now!
This might be your best video to date! You did some great explaining of how everything works and I like that you do a playthrough right after with everything fresh in memory. The only complain that I have is that the intro and your explanation of the rules was a tad bit too long, you could probably have explained all that in 3 minutes instead of 7.
This skill point is something I got first try once I found out what I actually was supposed to do. I never knew it was so particular since I unwittingly did the correct stuff to get it. Kinda glad after watching this video that I'm one of the lucky ones.

“If you’re like me, you’ve played these games a bunch…”
Yeah, I can relate 😉
“…probably dozens of times”
*Those are rookie numbers! Get those numbers up!* ⬆️
Yeah me too dude, I tend to come back to those classics every now and then.
I was always worried that friendly fire would void the skill point, so I dodged carefully as much as I could... it was all for nothing.
happy that Xem calls it a quadrilogy, Deadlocked is actually my favorite cuz it made the fun arena battles into a game on its own
Xem, thank you dude. Ive been trying to figure this one out for so many years
I had a similar problem on Dobbo's skill point with Rac1 weapons, but this one is so complicated, ty Xem
Great video! For me one of the most annoying skillpoints in the ratchet series was "Fast and Fiery-ous" in ToD. Seemed like easy one, but I spend an hour dying on that damn bridge. Got it by luck when the game decided to bug out and gift it to me for no reason.
I second this 100%
I just started replaying this game again and this video showed up in my recommended! Thanks youtube and Xem!
Love how happy you look when you get the skill point
Definitely interested in hearing more about how the last guy not walking forward invalidates the skill point.
And here I did this SP the "hard" way as a kid, killing every single enemy with a wrench (though I imagine there was friendly fire too). Though I honestly don't remember it being much of a hassle. I probably did it on a NG+ with a ton of health and the best wrench though.
Been trying for a long time to get the ninja wrench massacre skill point, I did it in the first try after watching your video! THANK YOU
any time, gamer
I’m really enjoying these types of videos. Thanks for this xem! And thanks to your editor too! Also, I freaking knew this was the skill point you were referring to haha
This skill point was a doozy, but at the same time, It was still easy. I would recommend having the electrosteel or carbonox armor equipped before doing the skill point.
I only recently gotten this skill point after years of having that game. I couldn't believe my eyes when I finally entered the museum. Man, I hated this skill point so much.
If only 7 year old me could have seen this vid, keep up the great content Xem!!
Great vid. I always found that the most important thing was to clear the main path before killing the enemies in the area with the platinum bolt. The game just refused to give me the skill point otherwise.
Can't remember ever struggeling with the skill point. I remember I 100% the three original games a few years back and did it on the first try.
I always found it easy aswell. I guess becaus, we used the wrench only 🤣
Omg i never understood this skillpoint, it always seemed so random.
Also, i've gotten this skillpoint multiple times by killing the penultimum enemy, not the last one, which was one of the main reasons as to why it seems to random
Insane thumbnail and great video :) I'm just wondering if the people looking for a guide will find this video because the title is kind of vague
*it's nice to see friendly fire as confirmed to not be a detriment, as I've experienced myself many times, though I was more wary of enemies falling off cliffs and I never tried firing with the turrets myself for fear of losing my chance; also, I swear I had a hunch about the last enemy, since I once gotten the Skill Point after killing everything and simply walking out of that last room, so it's quite nice to see what the trigger is a bit more precisely, in that regard.
somehow this video found me stuck on ninja 2 LUL
ty for the vid xem, helped a lot!
At least in the NTSC versions for both PS2 and PS3, this isn't a wonky skill point in normal playthroughs. A player can just come back with the best wrench and armor and sweep up without issue.
Omg I was not expecting a video like that one my "fav" skill point
Holy shit, every idea you wrote is fantastic.
If you have any other ideas in the future, PLEASE don't be bashful!
Never knew of this skill point. . . man that looks like an easy one to do even without the turrets.
13:48 my favorite Xem quote. “Oh, the dog is knocking them up.”
Thank you for Acknowledging Ratchet and Clank on PS2 was a Quadrilogy and not a trilogy. Deadlocked doesn't get enough love.
This might be your best video to date! You did some great explaining of how everything works and I like that you do a playthrough right after with everything fresh in memory. The only complain that I have is that the intro and your explanation of the rules was a tad bit too long, you could probably have explained all that in 3 minutes instead of 7.
Didn't pop for me at first, but tried again, and just finished with the lasst guy then it worked, thanks!
Man's just dropping content, like its nothing. Keep it up xem!!
the ratchet quadrilogy... yeah I played those games fully, twice or more, such good games
This skill point is something I got first try once I found out what I actually was supposed to do. I never knew it was so particular since I unwittingly did the correct stuff to get it. Kinda glad after watching this video that I'm one of the lucky ones.
