There is a glitch that can help you practice Z-Counter First go to training and choose Vegeta END SSJ2 with "Piccolo Type Potara" vs Goku END with "Piccolo Type Potara" Try to do three beam clashes the first and second time you must win In the third clash let Goku win Now the glitch is activated Goku will do Z-Counter every time you try to hit him
The easiest way to improve your z-counter is to bind up+square (z-counter) to one button. You ever notice how easy it is to vanish an attack as opposed to z-counter it? For me, I binded the z-counter input to the L3 button so now my chances of z-countering an attack are up at least 2x.
Only now did I realize you're Jahred Mario. I've been watching your TASes long ago and was wondering where your channel was, only to realize TH-cam might've done something unfair to you. Nice knowing you're back dude. Also, good tutorial, been playing the BT4 mod and was wondering if it works the same as the NTSC-U.
Some people already know that this tutorial isn't finished, since there are lots of things I haven't mentioned in this video. Looking forward to share more infos soon. 😊
Came back to this video since sparking is out and i gotta say this is a perfect video to give an idea of how to do it i never understood how to do it as a kid but now i realize its legit luck most of the time
I play mostly in the competitive discords for BT3 on the tournament standard Wii (Dolphin) PAL version at 120% speed to make it 30 FPS. I'm not entirely sure how that may differ the timing, but in that ISO the ZC is only 1 frame, and to my knowledge it's only 1 frame in every version of the game, so I thought I should just mention that. Great video though, the demonstrations were extremely well done!
How the hell do you counter a counter? I'm guessing it's like when someone tries to grab you, you then Z counter that grab. But my head hurts with understanding the idea of "you can Z counter a sonic sway" .. like what. I don't think I have ever seen that in action before. 💀
@@NinjaXFiles Basically, depending on the character, some counter attacks done after a sonic sway take long enough to where the person getting sonic swayed can return to neutral before being hit, thereby allowing them to ZC the follow-up. It's quite literally only by a frame though. Here's an example: th-cam.com/users/clipUgkxnofwpyJYlY0823B-2ojfTYhaOjgnHZ4m?si=vVWxRxwz6zTxJeEn
I forgot to mention as well, it depends on the character getting sonic swayed as well. They need to have a fast enough rush to return to neutral before the counter attack finishes. It's a very uncommon scenario but still very possible.
Max level cpu has Z-countered some of my sonic sways in the past, I've always tried and failed haha, was never good at z counters in BT3 tho, Sparking Zero has it much easier as the game is rendered at 60fps, flows easily and better to me that way. Super counters inherited almost everything of the classic Up square Z-Counter, I think it's not possible to super counter perceptions and sonic sways, the rest it's all possible.
I spent so long looking for a video like this and I now realize I will never be able to pull these off reliably😭.0033 of a second isn’t fair, I bet sparking zeros isn’t that bad if it has z counter. I’d love to have the satisfaction like “Hey alright I got this now!” But this is too much
what about when 2 characters vanish at the same time and start clashing and siaapearing, but no button input is shown so u don't know how to win, the camera switches perspective and shows them clashing in like a 3rd person view. It happens a bit in story mode I think one time with Nappa. What is that called or how does it happen and how do you win it???
Are you talking about Aerial Clash? If yes, it's only possible in story mode. If you want to win that clash, you need to react fast. Unless you wanna play BT4 mod.
Is there a lockout window for z-countering? If so how long is it(if you know it by the frames). Does vanishing have the same lockout window? Do the 2 coincide or can they be used alternative to each other, back to back? Dunno if you'll make another video answering these but it'd be nice to know.
Are you talking about the Vanishing Z-Counter (After a first person uses a Z-Counter)? They have bigger frame windows to counter a Z-Counter. This video needs part 2 of course. 🤔
this may be a stupid question but I use analog stick, is that wrong? for a z-counter do I need to rapidly switch to the directional pad + square and the continue with the stick?
I honestly don't know, since the in-game FPS is capped at 30 FPS in order to not lag. If you see some people who play at 60FPS, they're probably using Lossless Scaling, and/or some video editing stuff.
@@leadster2256 - I'm afraid it's not also possible to make 60 FPS in PS2, since people are using some interpolation stuff too, and/or maybe just modifying the settings a bit so it looks smooth, but the gameplay is sped up. 🤔
@@XenoCarmesin I wondered if there was a demo or something I may have skipped showing Z counters. Yeah we'll have to wait till the whole thing comes out.
@@NinjaXFiles oh no. They showed Z counters in sparking zero alright. Only reason why you didn't notice is because back in BT3 Z counter will have the character teleport behind their opponent and smash attack them. However, in sparking they changed that. Now they don't do that at all unless you vanish and then they vanish.
