Yes, looks like someone tried to fix it years ago, gave up and just threw it in a pile. Quite impressed more wasn't missing. Cap leakage damage is quite standard on these.
@@MarkFixesStuff Yeah, and that can be super corrosive. Mouse pee SUCKS as well. I took a page from Perifractics book and have ran a few disassembled machines through a dishwasher a couple times then bleached the dishwash afterwards. YUCK! It works pretty well. I had to rebuild quite a few traces on a couple. Heat shields on the Apple 2GS were wire brushed then primered/sanded and painted with Herculiner in an aerosol can form. They came out quite nice.
Part 2 of this Sega Mega CD Repair series is almost complete! Some interesting results to come!
Looking forward to it
Still need to edit this one LOL
I'm sure It will be worth it
That desktop background is f**cking hilarious. Serious mistrust and bafflement towards that screwdriver.
From a pristine box on a shop shelf to broken and in an old bag, how the hell does this happen, thank you for saving these old neglected creatures
It's horrible right!
Never fear though. It will sing again.
Great video mark, nice to see you fixing something that most people would throw away.
Cheers David. The Hoarder in me says NOOOOOOO!
This is going to be a good series to follow.
I hope so. It's taking a lot of editing.
Great work Mark, useful info and great to see the MCD getting resurrected 👍
I knew you couldn't be all bad really 😎
I'm definitely all bad mate.
DUUUUDE I really like your videos! Keep up the great work!
Awesome: 1 week ago my Sega Mega CD 1 PAL UK didn't power on any more. I hope I can repair it with this video.
How did you get on?
Great video Mr Mark. I may dig out my master system and megadrive and fix them too.
I insist that you do!
Ooh nice! Your new video has taken inspiration from somewhere 😀
Yes. I was compared to others and found wanting I am afraid. Trying to "up my game".
I do similar stuff on my channel, keep up the great work!
Good video.
Thanks mate!
The shielding is not essential. I would store it or throw it away :) I hate this stupid shielding...
I'm not a big fan either, but it is a part of the machine so I think I will try to restore it as a part of the project!
What a delicious treasure.
+nonp I love hardware like this. I never had access to such things back then.
Mark Fixes Stuff same here,I remember salivating over the adverts.
Can I ask if anyone knows why dose clicking occur in the disk drive an is there a fix
If anyone knows 💯 percent appreciate the education
I thought this thing was going to be a complete and utter fork'n basket case from the social media shots.. Buuuuut.. It doesn't seem that bad..

Short of the bashing around, I have seen MUCH worse (literal) barn storage machines :-/
Yeah, I have a Japanese Sega Dreamcast that was literally covered in chicken and rat poop which had been rained on and had run through the case.
